Villa 2 - 1 Leicester - Post Match Thread

Did Kramaric score? TBH I switched the telly off after the 2nd Villa goal.  What an unambitious performance. Ball control out of the window. Pass backwards if at all possible. Really had enough now!

Hope Pearson gave them a bollocking for that 2nd half display, I really do.

Said after the Arsenal game that 5 - 4 - 1 will only be effective vs teams like Arsenal and Chelsea where we're not only on the backfoot, but playing way superior teams. It has to be 4 - 5 - 1 or 4 - 4 - 2 otherwise. Today we looked like a conference side scrapping for a draw. It especially pains me to see our 1st team out playing like that in that formation. Aston Villa looked shockingly bad as well, in the first 20 mins of the 2nd half, It was amazing seeing Cleverley, Westwood, Delph etc have so much space, and they had no idea what to do with it, we just allowed them to attack.. and that's wrong, we've proven before that we're better than them, so why on earth we stuck with the 5 - 4 - 1, different formations for different games, but this.. this was for the taking and it's disappointing to see an inferior team progress for doing f-all.

Danny Simpson, this lad has proven to be a lackluster full-back, and has only on a few occasions looked better than RDL. RDL is faster, RDL gets forward more, and RDL sticks to his man and closes down, Simpson failed to stay close to a man cutting inside on his strong foot, and - goal. Also, that 93rd minute off-the ball challenge deserved a red card, he's stupid, literally an idiot for making that challenge when Schwarzer would have comfortably cleared it. I fear for Simpson vs Everton.

-Mahrez, ineffective, any manager / player / fan could have seen Mahrez' game was up after 70 mins, Albrighton HAD to come on.

-Morgan, I have no idea what that over the head kick thing was leading up to Villa's 2nd, he didn't have to do much all game but still appeared clueless.

-Schwartzer, to me, some comfortable saves are costing us big time, Hamer is a better shot-stopper, regardless of experience or 'voice', Hamer needs to be in there.

-Schlupp, great to see him getting down the wings and using his pace, sometimes he's out of it like in this 2nd half - But circkey, how many games in a row can he pass like a 5 year old.

-James, our best player by a long shot, great to see one of his shots actually have potential of going in, shame Given got to it.

-Kramaric, looked extremely compsoed, was unable to do anything without midfield or attacking support and delivery, one of our best goals all season.

4 - 5 - 1 vs Everton please. Hammond in for Morgan, Huth in for Upson, RDL in for Simpson.

I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting, after calming down and reflecting carefully and in a nuanced way on today's performance, ........................................................................................................................................to register my complete ****ing disgust via the player/manager ratings, ie in the usual way....

Who would you replace him with?

The more difficult question is why would you keep him? :dunno:

Posted

I have to agree, there is no one out there to replace him now..................BUT to keep him next season would be a mistake IMO................... if he gets us promotion we will be in the same postion again, I don't think he would get us promoted next season, again IMO.

Time for a change and new style of play, the players are too comfortable, he picks his favourites, time for a change next season,  it is too late for this season...........new manager next season please

If / when we go down, there's nobody I would trust more than Nigel Pearson to get us straight back up. The question goes to the players / owners on their intent for a speedy return. If we can keep hold of our best players, and our young guns, we'll be more than good enough to come back up, and be able to challenge once again. You've got to look at player development, and how certain players are yet to reach their full potential.

James / Schlupp / Mahrez / Kramaric - if we can keep them (which is a massive task, and highly unlikely with the latter two,) then they'll most likely progress in to next season, Kram getting goals every week, Mahrez continuing his onslaught of right-backs, Schlupp as an all-round player, and James as our future captain and first name on the team sheet man. There's no reason why Pearson won't do the same again.

This is just going round in circles. I've put it elsewhere.

- Change for the sake of it is stupid and instability and poor managerial appointments have held us back the last 10 years.

- I think Pearson is capable of achieving promotion again if we were to be relegated. He knows the club and the club knows him. He's repeatedly reiterated his commitment.

- If Laudrup isn't available I just don't see who would be an improvement. Say he isn't, who would you bring in if you were in charge? Or at least attempt to?

just give up haydos I agree with all of what you've said but the people on here will just respond saying "ye but let's sack him" with no argument as to why we'd be better getting rid.

Schlupp had a good game, are you pissed?

I thought he was our man of the match, amazed by the number on here slating him.

Hamer plays, Morgan goes off instead of wasyl, we probably draw 0-0.

Exactly right. why did he take off was ??? Morgan is useless. Hamer had done nothing wrong previously and should still be in the side.

Nigel Pearson is completely out of his depth in this league it is untrue .He is tactically inept.

Wes Morgan is a championship player. Why do you think he has never been in this league before.

How Jeff Schlupp gets in the team week in week out is beyond me.he should be no where near the squad.he is so clueless it's embarrassing.

Paul Konchesky was absolute dross last season yet he still makes the team sheet?!

Ben Hamer wats he done wrong to lose his place?

Has someone kidnapped Tony Knockaert?

The club should refund all those fans who travelled to villa park today to witness that absolutely lacklustre, Abysmall, embarrassing, total lunacy bollocks of a display.

It's also annoying because I keep being accused of 'blindly' defending Pearson and shit like that despite repeatedly criticising him for most of his decisions today.

Too many numbskulls with tunnel vision.

Why because they are calling for his head, whilst challenging for a champions league place, and we are calling for a managers head, who gets it wrong most of the time, and couldn't win a game if his life depended on it.

My patients has ran out, that was ****ing awful against an awful side.

It wasn't my point, losing faith in the manager is fine. But it's a constant flip flop between there's only one nigel pearson and Pearson out. There's no middle ground, everytime Arsenal win it's in Wenger we trust and when they lose it's Wenger out. We're basically the same.

Tell me then genius what he did wrong? I'll tell you what he did right. He repeatedly calmed everybody else down to stop lumping the ball forward and actually pass to their team mates. The only time we actually created and used possession is when it came through him. He switched the ball nicely and didn't lose the ball in the midfield. He made some nice through balls that we didn't capitalise on. When you've got shite like Konchesky and Morgan in this team the last person to criticise is Cambiasso.

Is this the same Combiasso who continually passed to long when passing forward. He did a lot of lumping too.

It was shite, shame it was on BBC as millions will have seen that, and pissed their pants laughing.

Shame for the owners as Mahrez is now going to not command the millions they thought.

- Let us reward his failure.

It isn't change for the sake of it, he's been shown up as being tactically useless.

I'd get Lennon in tomorrow.

I don't think we'll get promoted, we need 5 new players at the back, we'll lose Hamer, Albrighton, Cambiasso, Kramaric, Mahrez and perhaps James.

Who does that leave to get us promoted?

Really solid first half. Gave them no opportunities, a decent away performance. 2nd half we gambled on trying to get a goal but were unfortunately outscored. Not our finest performance but it doesn't matter, plenty of positives to take back to the league.

This is a Leicester v Villa post match thread. You seem to be referring to a completely different game.

So because your opinion differs from others that gives you the right to throw around insults like a semi developed neanderthal? Learn some manners man were you brought up or dragged up?
