GaelicFox Posted 20 February 2015 Posted 20 February 2015 Not agreeing with that one bit. Ulloa has 9 goals this season (fantastic return so far) and Kramaric has 2 in 4. It's not a 'destruction of quality' its the difference in quality between this league and the Championship. Jamie Vardy couldn't get to grips with the Championship only a year and a half ago, has it really come as a great surprise that his technical flaws have been punished? In the Championship if a striker closes down a defender then the defender will make mistakes because of his poor quality. This just isn't the case in the Premier League and that is all there is to Vardy's game. You can't teach anyone composure or a first touch. Being a Premier League footballer is definitely more about actual ability than graft when your'e a forward. Nugent has played the number 10 role with success, albeit inconsistently. He's never been a poacher and will probably make the move into midfield before his career finishes. He's got talent on the ball and the squad plays much better with him in it. He's missed some massive chances this season, and will rightly be scrutinized but to blame Phillips for his mistakes is just taking the piss somewhat. Promotion has highlighted the lack of genuine quality in the Championship. The hardworking, but technically limited, front 2 of Vardy and Nugent was never going to keep up up, which is why we've spent 20m on strikers (which have scored us goals, whether you want to admit it or not). Our problems have been with the midfield and wingers not chipping in with goals. We've scored 22 Premier League goals, 12 have come from strikers (Ulloa 7, Kramaric 1, Nugent 2, Vardy 2, Wood 1) which means a striker gets a goal one every two games for us, which isn't too bad (could be better though) but only 10 goals between midfield and defence is, frankly, abysmal. That's where our problems have been this season. One every two games and 20m spent ....ok if that's your bench mark we better look forward to championship football , I agree with many of your other point though
StanSP Posted 20 February 2015 Posted 20 February 2015 Why would it mean the end of Wood and Nugent???
AKCJ Posted 20 February 2015 Posted 20 February 2015 One every two games and 20m spent ....ok if that's your bench mark we better look forward to championship football , I agree with many of your other point though Did I say that? Or did I say that we could do better? We've spent a lot of money on strikers and it's paying off. Kramaric and Ulloa are scoring goals it's the midfield and the wingers that aren't. If Ulloa and Kramaric average 1 in every 2 between them (1 in 4 each) then Ulloa will end the season on 12 in 33 and Kramaric will have 5 in 16. They're good records for strikers at this level.

That's where our problems have been this season. Not at all to me. But was slagged in the summer by Bert and his cronies that Vardy would be number one striker. Pearson gave him well to long. Bert where are you now like a lot in the summer you have hidden. I also said our strenghtening the bench was shite we should have bought first team players. But again slagged down we are stronger if the bench is (come on babs tell me I am wrong and your right now) You do not strengthen from the bench you strengthen from your first choice. You automatically strengthen your squad doing that (you demote first team players) But you both took the piss and laughed at me. Tell me I am wrong now? But not an anti and support our fight to the end.
johnny the fox Posted 21 February 2015 Posted 21 February 2015 Sign the bastard up... best young striker in the country... if he needs his cock sucking i'm spartacus!
Eddy Kellys Heroes Posted 21 February 2015 Posted 21 February 2015 Sign the bastard up... best young striker in the country... if he needs his cock sucking i'm spartacus! I'm not Spartacus
NewquayFox Posted 21 February 2015 Posted 21 February 2015 Its the defence & midfield we need to strengthen, players that can carry/pass a ball to create chances for our strikers to feed off, not just streams of boot outs and aimless passes....
Stadt Posted 21 February 2015 Posted 21 February 2015 Isn't his record about 1 in 3 in the championship? It's not bad but our current strikers all have similar or better strike rates.
gazzer Posted 21 February 2015 Posted 21 February 2015 Ironically Phillips got a lot of praise last season for the improvement in Vardy, yet now he is the scapegoat go look up ironic in the dictionary
Matt Posted 21 February 2015 Posted 21 February 2015 :banghead: WE DON'T NEED FECKING STRIKERS!!!!!!!!!! Ok, so that position is an issue but let's get the root of the problem sorted first, service, quality service, let's provide something for the strikers we have first, without getting that service sorted first it's pointless getting strikers in, I still say Kramaric is a pretty pointless signing due to lack of decent service and hardly anyone to provide for him, yes he's scored 2 in 2, that's very good but expect that to change very soon and he'll struggle due to the problem I am talking about. On Sunday he was too busy trying to snuff out of make his own opportunities instead of actually being a striker.
ramadaone Posted 21 February 2015 Posted 21 February 2015 Steve Walsh and Kevin Phillips were at Birmingham the other night watching him according to Leicester City news now. Might mean nothing, yet if they are looking at strikers, then that could well be the end of Wood and Nugent You sure that's who they were watching ...?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 21 February 2015 Posted 21 February 2015 You sure that's who they were watching ...? Tell me they were watching Demarai Gray, ramada
