Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 28 January 2015 Share Posted 28 January 2015 After putting in a winning bid of £1,149.50, Bernie said: “I’ve been a fan for over 50 years, and I’ve watched Alan Birchenall play for Leicester City throughout that time. “He’s a wonderful person to have as Club Ambassador, and all the work he does for charity, including his end of season runs, are brilliant. “It’s for a great cause that will help children across the country, so I’m really pleased with it. “Liam Moore’s generosity is fantastic as well – it’s great from him to donate his England shirt to charity, and I hope he goes on to earn a full cap in the future.” Read more at http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/moores-england-shirt-auction-success-2231691.aspx#FsAmCQxT2tGferob.99 What they mean is: After putting in a winning bid of £1,149.50, Bernie said: "ARGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 28 January 2015 Share Posted 28 January 2015 Over a grand on an England U21 shirt? Nuts. Is there anything about Bernie that isn't nuts? I'd be more worried for him if he'd spent under a grand

Robin JD Popley Posted 28 January 2015 Share Posted 28 January 2015 That is crazy - but to be fair, not as crazy as the last time I saw him in Loughborough walking down the road with a very attractive blonde lady. He truly is an enigma.
LanguedocFox Posted 28 January 2015 Share Posted 28 January 2015 He'll probably wear it every match for the next 10 years now Except that he might get mistaken for a Florist fan, and he would slit his wrists sooner than do that.

Jace Posted 28 January 2015 Share Posted 28 January 2015 Where on earth does Bernie get the money from!? He usually gets a couple hundred quid a night just going around the clubs and bars making celebrity appearances, much like this guy

Vlad the Fox Posted 28 January 2015 Share Posted 28 January 2015 Many years ago after a match at Filbert Street I spotted a couple of eager and then, (I assumed Bernie arrrhhhggggg'd into the microphone) increasingly bemused reporters trying to interview a fully Leicester City decorated Bernie along Burnmoor Street. Imagine my suprise when on the following Monday in the merc there was a little picture of Bernie with insightful and thought out comments on Leicester, Barcelona, Real Madrid and european football. The tone of his comments are similar to the time in this report, I say it's him. Or the reporters didn't have a clue what he's on about and made it up. Either way, nice one Bernie. To be perfectly honest, I once served Bernie when I worked at Budgens years ago. I was surprised by how coherent he is before his daily gallon of whistle wettener, a bit mumbly but spoke in actual constructed sentences. I was also amazed how he's able to carry things, his fingers are ridiculously stumpy
Ashley Posted 28 January 2015 Share Posted 28 January 2015 That is him. I'm sure he has a house in Quorn worth in excess of £250,000 he isn't short of money so i'm lead to believe.
LanguedocFox Posted 28 January 2015 Share Posted 28 January 2015 Don't know if any of you saw the drama-doc "Marvellous" on the Beeb last year. It was about Neil Baldwin, who was a guy with special needs, and a lifelong Stoke City fan [insert non-PC joke here] who Lou Macari made his kit-man when he was manager. There's a Guardian story about him here: http://www.theguardian.com/education/2010/mar/09/neil-baldwin-keele-university. It is actually a lovely story, and it made a great TV programme. I got to wondering if someone should have a word with the powers that be about making a drama-doc on Bernie. Not that anyone would believe it.
