Ipswich (A) 1 - 1 - Boxing Day - Post-Match Thread
Devonfox1884 replied to lnkstern's topic in Leicester City Forum
We limited a very good Ipswich side to one good chance from a corner and a 20-yard effort that Mads tipped wide easily before their fluke of an equaliser - that’s a big positive. However, we didn’t create too much other our goal ourselves really, and you have to give Ipswich credit for that, too. If it wasn’t for the big decisions that went against us, I wouldn’t be so frustrated that Ipswich took a point because they probably deserved it. But they should have been 2-0 down and down to 10 men so it’s hard to accept the end result. That’s football. Let’s take 6 points from Cardiff and Huddersfield and look back on this as a very successful Christmas period. -
An ok player at this level but would be a waste of money if we were to go up in my opinion. Not really sure what his best position is, which should be a red flag in itself.

Same XI as last night, with the exceptions of Choudhury for Pereira and JJ back in for Coady.

Not sure what benefit we reap from saving KDH 10 minutes of game time to be honest. Strange sub that - could just about understand the other two. -
With only a few months left on his contact I’d imagine about £5m. Which isn’t ideal, but we could potentially reinvest in a player that’ll be here for a longer-term so would make sense, especially with the re-emergence of Patson.
-
I know! Just want him to be able to develop elsewhere as he’s clearly got the talent there, but it isn’t developing playing 5 mins a game with us.
-
He shows flashes doesn’t he, that’s what makes him all the more frustrating. Hope either next season or January (if we can get a replacement) he gets a loan where he can start every week for his development.
-
Hermansen Choudhury Souttar Coady JJ Winks Yunus KDH Fatawu Cannon Mavididi Rotation is going to be needed with the schedule we have. Hopefully that team can get the job done early and give JJ, KDH, Abdul, Winks and Stephy an early rest.

He’s very Nugent isn’t he, which is by no means a bad thing. Needs a start, Rotherham could be a good opportunity.

Birmingham City (A) 2-3 Leicester - Post-Match Thread

In fairness with VAR we probably score another at the start of the second half when KDH went through and would have likely squared to Fatawu for a tap-in - it was never offside. Swings and roundabouts I guess! -
I hope he can be back for Rotherham in the league. That game, Cardiff/Huddersfield and Millwall in the cup can hopefully get him back up to speed.

Good few of us coming up from Devon for this one which rarely happens due to ticket availability, massively looking forward to it! -
Indeed, and when they’re doing well it will show in their attendances due to their catchment area for supporters - they have Cornwall and most of Devon (unless you want the torture of watching Torquay/Exeter). They are a big club with a big fanbase down here.

Due to where I live, I watch Argyle a decent amount. It’s absolutely imperative that we do not allow Morgan Whittaker inside onto his left foot - he’s arguably their best player but is nowhere near as effective when shown outside. In transition Argyle can be very good, with Luke Cundle, on loan from Wolves, their main man in the midfield. They’re certainly at their most dangerous when on the counter, with Ryan Hardie, just back from injury, a very good finisher. Bali Mumba is a player I like, he can play in either full-back role, is strong and decent technically. He tends to play right-back when Argyle captain, Joe Edwards, doesn’t play. When Edwards does play, Mumba usually moves to left-back. I don’t think Edwards will play against us - his lack of pace would be massively exploited with the wingers we have. In reality, despite the respect and soft spot I have for Argyle, they are ultimately a team we should be dispatching with ease. They’re not good away from home and have a couple of regular starters in Edwards and Jordan Houghton who I’d argue aren’t good enough for this league at all. They’re a largely limited side who I think will come to have a go, and that’ll play into our hands I feel.
-
Well I wasn’t going to get to Millwall away in the league as it’s midweek, and at least this way I can still hopefully tick the ground off. Not the best draw but I’ll take it.
-
I think we’re going to win this. 2-1 (KDH and Mavididi).
-
I disagreed with those saying that the game on Saturday was boring… But that WAS boring. Hideous football, no urgency and a chore to watch. First time I’m going to raise a question mark over the ‘Enzo way’. Hopefully just a big off day, but we’ve had a few of those recently. West Brom is massive now.

Selfishly hope so mate. -
Let’s win this game before worrying about West Brom. I’d potentially make a couple of changes for freshness but nothing too outrageous: Mads Faes Coady JJ Ricardo Winks Fatawu Praet KDH Mavididi Vardy

Hopefully this makes members as that’s a decent allocation. Though Wednesday was a similar amount and they went very quickly. -
I reckon there’s a good chance he gets a pen if he goes down when challenged for that chance he hit the post from.

We had them on the ropes before that beauty of a free-kick. Much less disappointed by yesterday than Leeds. International break gives us time to hopefully get Wilf and Yunus back, and Cannon some more time training. We have a relatively nice run of games coming up and I think we’ll soon hit our stride again. We were always likely to face a small blip at some stage.

The future is Fatawu and Alves on the wings, I hope he gets a chance soon. -

Well that’s me making a lovely 12 hour round trip -
I hope the players don’t have the same mentality as some in this thread. There’s every chance we could go on a poor run and be caught. I don’t think it will happen, but to write off the possibility at this stage is at best naive.
