  1. I think this could be a PSR deal, we sell McAteer for somewhere between £5-10m which is pure profit for us and Newcastle end up with £1-2m amortisation on their books and we then pay £10m £15m for Longstaff which is pure profit for them and we get to amortise at £2-3m per season. Job done. in addition highly likely McAteer ends up with a couple of championship loans before being sold.
  2. Hopefully these blatant floundering of the rules make it so farcical that it aides our defence and we end up with minimal deduction or that our case is dismissed and both Forest and Everton are awarded their points back from last season. These actions whilst not a direct breach are making an utter mockery of the system. I would imagine a very good sports lawyer such as a Nick DiMarco would drive a bus through it.
  3. I think it’s one of those moves just hasn’t worked out for either party, I really hope we are able to do a deal that gets some money back and gets him out the club. We really cannot afford to be carrying players. There has been sufficient opportunity for Soumare to show what he is capable of and I am afraid he is just not the right fit for us as a club or potentially for Premier league football.
  4. Not necessarily true, both Daka and Soumare were signed as excellent prospects and really struggled in the premier league, there is no guarantee any of these 3 will excel at Ipswich and if they do struggle then Ipswich just like us will struggle to shift them on and not take a hit from a PSR perspective. With any transfer, there is always an element of risk.
  5. There is no way we can expect Fatawu and Mavididi to play over 40 games each next season in the premier league and cup competitions and be fresh and effective, we need another quality addition to give us options and rotation opportunities when it needs freshening up. I really don’t think McAteer and Wanya will provide that. I imagine one or even both could end up being loaned out to championship clubs. Although I can see McAteer providing good versatility as he can play midfield, wing back and any of the attacking midfield roles so could provide decent cover.
  6. For this to be dragging on for as long as it has, would suggest that we have offered Wilf, significantly reduced terms and his representatives are frantically trying to drum up interest to secure a better deal elsewhere or by trying to get us to raise our offer. I hope the club stands firm as I feel Wilf is still a long way from his best, if he does move on I would possibly look at someone like Ben Sheaf from Cov as a replacement, who will be reasonably priced and be very affordable from a wages perspective.
  7. Really happy with this signing and our summer transfer business to date. I have been very impressed with how Martyn Glover operates and too date I think we have scouted and recruited very well since he joined the club. We appear to be going back to the model that served us well in the past of signing young hungry players with the sprinkling of good older more experienced players who provide leadership, support and professionalism to the younger group. Its a very long road back but it feels we are very much getting back on track with our recruitment and Glover seems a very good and safe pair of hands, much in the same way as Steve Walsh Snr and Eduardo Macia.
  8. I did have similar thoughts myself, also add in the will he, won’t he situation with Potter and it does make you wonder if the relationship has somewhat fractured. Will be interesting to see what other deals materialise over the summer and if the majority are via one agency.
  9. I really rate him but I think a season smashing it up in the championship could do him and his development a world of good and then be back and ready for the following season when it seems Vardy will have retired
  10. I am far from convinced that Cooper will have complete control over transfers, i am sure he will have an input and influence but I very much doubt he will come into the club and be given a free reign in terms of recruitment.
  11. If we were to buy O’Reilly for £20-25m and give him a 5 year deal you are looking at £4-5m per season in regards to PSR so not a massive outlay if finance is not an issue, but more how we stay compliant with the PSR rules then it could happen. In reality if he is available I am pretty sure he will have more attractive options open to him.
  12. Was later seen in the mosh pit with Top and Cooper going off their nut to Fire 🔥
  13. I would post it a pic but don’t want to get a ban for posting indecent images 😂
  14. I think they might have been referring to the shorts 🤮
  15. All we know is the fee quoted is 15m euros which equates to £12.7m. We don’t know the structure of the deal in terms of how much of that fee is guaranteed and the proportion of it that is linked to performance related add ons. I would be amazed if the structure of the deal is purely an up front fee.
  16. Decent signing and provides much needed cover and rotation options for Mavidid and Fatawu. He is experienced and proven at premier league level, and gives us a very good opportunity to freshen things up in game from the bench. He is our Albrighton replacement but dare I say being younger still offers a genuine goals & assists contribution at this level. All in all a solid and sound if unspectacular piece of business by the club.
  17. The problem is with PSR it’s forcing clubs to raise more revenue through commercial sponsorship and partnerships, unfortunately that means decisions are now being made purely on financial merits rather than cultural fit and alignment. I am far from enamoured with the running of our club, but there is a little bit of damned if we do and damned if we don’t. We need finances to be competitive and compliant but that comes at a cost and these types of deals and unsavoury partnerships will become more and more par for the course not just with us but with most clubs who want to be competitive in the top flight.
  18. I wonder if the club have done thiis with a view to trying to maintain a positive environment for the players and staff at the start of the season, hear me out on this one. ………… A significant points deduction before a ball is kicked and being marooned at the bottom could have a really negative impact to players, management and supporters, effectively kill the season before it starts, if this can be delayed, it offers a far better chance of us getting off on a positive footing, get some early results, points on the board etc, similar to Everton last saason. momentum, positive and negative can take hold of a club pretty easily, so maybe the club feel that if we start on a level playing. field and then get our deduction later in the season, we have more chance of staying up than starting the season with a big disadvantage that sets a tone from the off that we are doomed. To some degree it does make a bit of sense.
  19. I honestly think the more the club are criticised for poor communication, the more they think, right let’s really wind the fanbase up and become even slower at releasing any news especially positive, it’s like they are permanently trolling us.
  20. I think @Ric Flair suggested him previously but I think Steven Alzate would be a shrewd piece of business on a free, can play CDM, CM and AM has premier league experience would bring some very good squad depth and rotation options in a an area where we look light currently. He is currently on Sky Sports News talking about being out of contract.
  21. I bet even then we would still be stuck with Rudkin
  22. Great business if they can secure them both. I was hoping we would be looking at these types of players this season.
  23. He is a very good player and has a touch of shithousery about him, he probably didn’t endear himself to us after bagging that brace and proper giving it the big one, too be fair to him, if any of us scored 2 goals to win a derby match then we would be doing the exact same. Take away the fact he looks like he would be on the smelly list and comes across as a bit of a helmet, he is a bloody good footballer who creates and scores goals, would be a very sound addition on a free and given that in the event we get relegated he is already proven at Championship level.
  24. Always sad to see one of our own leave, but also it does bear testament to the work that is going on in the academy, In Barnes and KDH we have booked circa £70m in profit. moving forward this has to be the model, developing young hungry players either through the academy or like Fatawu and Mads by clever recruitment, nurture them and then look to sell to one of the bigger clubs in England and across Europe for a tidy fee. This means we have to fix the pathway to the 1st team for players such as Alves, Nelson and Braybrooke whilst also getting the timing right with getting the next layer down decent loan moves to fast track development.
  25. Premier League title no 2 incoming then 😂
