Dog fight...

With Hull's run in (L'pool, Arsenal, and Man Utd still to visit the KC, plus they have an away fixture against Spurs) they're my favourites for the drop, though they will get at least another 3 pts with Burnley visiting them.

Villa won at Spurs. We beat Man U at home. Hull could easily get two wins. So much tosh being talked as col and babs said. We now have injury concerns. It's a long way to the end still.

This is a proper dog fight but at least we have gone into it with our teeth bared, a few weeks ago we looked like we needed putting down. I'm proud of the lads whatever our fate.

I'm sure this board has become more pessimistic since our upturn in form. I suppose it's the fact that there is something to lose now rather than before where it seemed there was nothing to be lost.

The job's not done by a long shot, but I will be massively disappointed if we don't stay up given each teams respective fixtures. It's in our hands now and the players have done nothing to tell me they won't see the job through now. Can see Newcastle being a good game with goals aplenty, hopefully we come out on top as we have done the previous 4 games.

With Chelsea, anything gained from that is a massive bonus. Having witnessed Chelsea's games against QPR and Arsenal, if Drogba is up front we don't have too much too worry about. Wasi will see to it that Hazard has a quiet one.

Considering the what seemed impossible has happened for us, I'm not ruling anyone in or out. We could easily not win another game, or someone like Hull could win a couple on the trot and get out of it.

It concerns me how much the focus seems to have shifted to next season with threads about money to spend, prize money etc etc. There should be no doubt about it, we're still in deep shit.

Hence, we all need to keep our feet on the ground, and not get carried away.

Like others have said, we are firmly in a dog fight. We have momentum and are in form - we have given ourselves a chance, which was beyond any of our wildest dreams a few weeks ago.

Keep the faith!

With QPR and Burnley looking odds on for the drop it's now between us, Sunderland, Hull, Villa and Newcastle for the final relegation place... Could villa be distracted by the FA Cup final?.. Got a feeling Hull will do enough to survive.. Sunderland's run in is scary.. And Newcastle are in freefall... Our game against Sunderland looks to me to be decisive??

Bye bye Sunderland for me

A defeat to Chelsea, Newcastle's best players returning and a poor performance from us, see's us suffer two defeats in a row... Meaning we have to beat Sunderland, who scrape a draw out of us - and we end up going down as an already relegated QPR with the pressure off run riot at the KP

If we can win 4 games in a row any team could.

We might not be able to buy a win for the next 5 games, just like we haven't for lots of '5 games' over the season

I too CC, am a prophet of doom.

Now we have hope it will be taken away in quick order I fear.

I agree.  Look elsewhere and you will see I've been one of the few banging on about it not being over at every opportunity.  I thought this thread was about who in the dogfight is most likely to be the final team in the drop zone and in my opinion that is Hull.  It's not a claim that we're safe and we can stop trying.

We will beat Chelsea on Wednesday and beat the Toon on Saturday!

My Bookie told me it was a "dead cert" and "I should bet heavily on it"!

.........................and Bookies never lie!

So that's 6 points extra and we are as good as safe!

Why is it when you wish for help from another team, you never seem to get it???

Liverpool used to be a great team, but not this season.

Liverpool used to be a great team, but not this season.

Liverpool are awful without Sturridge. Balotelli has been awful, waste of space.

The only positive is Hull are starting to drop deeper and deeper but Liverpool have been poor so far... Oh and Balotelli has been subbed

With confidence from two wins, hull will drag themselves safe. So that leaves sland, villa and the Geordies. Assuming the Geordies manage to find a win from somewhere (they will), we have to better sunderlands results between now and the end of the season to stay up. Villa will find a couple of wins. Simple as that. Looks like our game at the SOL will decide our fate.

Hull are not clear yet. No one below Newcastle are safe yet imo

Course they arent but they have begun to find clean sheets and play a bit better - they will now have some momentum. They will find another three points at least this season and that should be enough.

I big worry of ours is the state of the rest of the league. Championship sorted, Champions League sorted and no one really is bothered about the Europa League other than Southampton.

It means a lot of the teams around us have been and will be playing teams that aren't particularly motivated. We on the other have 5 fixtures all against teams with a lot to play for.

I can see Hull getting 40 points. I can see Newcastle and Villa getting enough. Looks like it's between us and Sunderland.
