Pearson interview

This is my favourite quote so far, from the Guardian comments section.

"Pearson is basically the football equivalent of Walter from The Big Lebowski. 'You're out of your element, Ian.'"

Laugh all you want, how convenient, still doesn't detract from the simple fact that you pick and choose what is said to aid your argument. Hardly a balanced look now is it..

And hardly detracts from the observation that you are clearly peed off that Pearson gave an apology.

As Foxulike said, dry your eyes.

And did you really use the term 'sweetheart'?

Who are you? A cockney villain?

Though also have to congratulate Murphy for having the balls to ask that line of questioning - even if he appears a willy puller for doing it, that's what he's essentially paid to do. Stir it up, and try and get an even bigger reaction for Nigel, one thing's for sure, Nigel won't be opening up to Murphy at all in the future.

I'm not annoyed in the slightest about Pearson apologising. Not too sure where I have defended him for this incident? As for my terminology to coin a phrase "let's have it right" or "you are reaching" hardly in a position to comment are we sweetheart.By all means try again

Why does a journo appear a 'willy puller' for doing his job?

I sense a lot of ill feeling toward Nige after last night's happenings. The knives will be sharpening I think.

Pat Murphy comes across like a condescending ****. What has he ever achieved in the world of football?

Considering he is not in the football profession I think it's fair to say he has achieved nothing.  What a truly ridiculous ****ing argument.  Anyone who uses any such argument has to be missing a chromosome or two.

He appears a willy puller to the people on this forum and the outside world (including the media) because his comments were too provoking in an attempt to be victimised by Pearson himself; just glad Pearson didn't fall for it.

His job is to ask questions, not try and create a bigger shitstorm.

That comes with the territory though doesn't it, if you're set out to try and bait a football manager, you're either going to look a tit, or look like a victim in the wrath of big Nige.

That's BS. Pearson brought this on himself by his actions last night. Pat Murphy, the journalist from last night, the wider media, none of these are to blame. Nigel Pearson is.

Yeah, he did. For that he apologised... And he dealt with Pat Murphy's line of questioning... what's the problem?

Pearson's well within his right to react to a question which he feels didn't need to be asked, and the journalist last night, and Murphy today are well within their rights to ask any question they feel like asking.

It is though, a pre-match conference for Newcastle, and with a question not relating at all directly to the Newcastle game, you kind of feel theres no need for it to happen. It's baiting, sure Pearson was asking for it after last night, but you don't spend seven minutes reiterating a few points trying to get verbally abused.

Correct.

Pearson was in the wrong last night and apologised, quite rightly.

The journalists in today's media conference felt that Pat Murphy's views / line of questioning was pretty poor.

Why was he bringing up the incident with the fan? It's been dealt with, Pearson apologised to those offended who were nearby but wouldn't to the fan in question.

How that whole interview came across, to me, was as 'payback time'

Nigel verbally (and non verbally) gave the journo both barrels last night. So he got it back today.

That's how I saw it.

What's good for the goose... You give it, you take it.

Whether you agree that this should happen or not, is down to individual opinion.

But to me, that's what that looked like today.

Murphy thought Pearson apologised to the fan.

Well done for having words with Murphy too.

Media loves Nige.....makes their jobs easier and entertaining...If all managers were clean cut, how boring the news articles would be..

For Nige, well his self control is on a short leash.......media knows what pushes his buttons and they make money off it selling papers and tv spots. I have no issues with his mannerisms to the media and the reflection on the club is minimal. Might even benefit us as our name gets attention and the mixed reaction sells.

Great to have your insight in scenarios like this, sort of puts all the extreme opinions (one way or the other) in perspective.

One thing I'm utterly confused about is the tonnes of social media comments from people citing Nigel as a bully.

What is wrong with this nation? Bullying? lol

Bullying

Bullying is the use of force, threat, or coercion to abuse, intimidate, or aggressively dominate others. The behavior is often repeated and habitual. One essential prerequisite is the perception, by the bully or by others, of an imbalance of social or physical power. Behaviors used to assert such domination can include verbal harassment or threat, physical assault or coercion, and such acts may be directed repeatedly towards particular targets.

Think he meets the criteria

Both

Some journalists think it's all about them... maybe it's a BBC thing.

Ah fair enough. I feel he should of stopped when the journalist (was it ian baker?) sounded like he was about to defend pearson.
