Raj Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Like they say...better to be thought a fool than to speak out and prove your a fool...or something like that...Murphy...you d fool!!!
pazzerfox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Wasn't Pat Murphy merely defending one of his colleagues for a complete over reaction from a very straightforward question though? I think some of what Pat Murphy said was true and to be fair, Nigel couldn't have taken him on in a verbal exchange so decided not to say anything. (In my opinion of course). I am a fan of Nigel but he let's himself and the club down massively by taking anything slightly negative as an insult, either to his players or himself.
Foxymcoxy Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Right, this is well worth 7 minutes of any Leicester fan's time. Last night Nigel felt he was "over the top" with his criticisms of the so-called "ostrich" and has since apologised to him. Now, in today's press conference Nige and his press officer were joined by Pat Murphy, an experienced journalist from the midlands. Murphy came with a clear agenda to attack Nigel and, as he put it, "stand up" for journalists because he thinks Nigel has been a bully. Now, I find it incredibly strange that any journalist that has covered Nigel's press conferences can have any arguments against him. They come in their droves week in week out with one objective. Wind him up. Listen as the man lectures him, thinking he's some fountain of knowledge ( ) in media circles. Yes Nigel shouldn't bite and he should probably just bite his tongue and lie to journalists in order to help fill their columns and everyone will be happy. But his attitude of "i'll let you know what you want to know when you start talking to me like an adult" should be seriously praised and it's absolutely no wonder that Nigel has received plenty of praise from the likes of Allardyce for this mentality. I personally found Murphy's "the media generates a lot of money for football so you should treat us with a bit of respect" line absolutely appalling. How about, if football didn't exist then you wouldn't have a job? This constant ding dong between press and Pearson is growing tiresome. If the likes of Murphy want to start taking the high ground with pathetic rants such as the one below, then please start treating our manager like a human being and not one of your Premier League Press robots like Bruce, Dyche and Pardew. Yesterday's questioning from the journalist (ostrich) was poor. Everyone could see it was poor. We'd been bottom of the league for 140 days. Of course we'd been under criticism. It didn't need flagging up and it was clearly just another thinly veiled attempt to get under Nige's skin to watch him explode. I would very much like to hear from aspiring or perhaps an established journalist's take on the matter. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32537484 Yeah this was the most ridiculous part of an entirely ridiculous near-monologue by a conceited willy puller.
Larry_LCFC Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Pat Murphy was right in principle to challenge Nigel. HOWEVER, this should have been done in one point taking a minute at most. Nigel had already said sorry and to labour it on for over five minutes was embarrassing on his part. Just shows how desperate for a story he is.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Don't get this 'everyone thinks we're shit and are laughing at us, nobody likes us anymore ' attitude. Fvcking good, I'm glad they don't, I couldn't care less what any balloon head who supports any other team thinks of my team, be it favourable or otherwise it doesn't get us any points being liked. Nigel is the best man for the job, he does things his way, always has and always will and that's just the way I like it.

I'm not sure if Pat Murphy was just trying to rile him for a reaction, or dole out a bit of vigilante justice, but all he succeeded in doing was make himself look like a muppet aswell.
Kilworthfox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I nearly wet my pants when Pat said "I'm not the one who makes a fool of himself in press conferences" & Nigel said "Oh really" Genius
Aus Fox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I'm this modern world of robots in the media all offering the same answer to every question, I love the fact that Pearson comes out and is honest with the press. A lot won't like it but you can't knock the guy for giving an honest answer to the question. If the media thaelvea did any sort of research they would be able to ask far better questions and will get Pearson to open up honestly. The guy last time was prime example when Pearson asked him how many times he's seen us play, twice was the answer. Twice and he felt he could walk into a press conference and try and knock Pearson down. I hope Pearson carries on calling as he sees it, the game needs more personalities.
Dr The Singh Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Both Pearson and that twat should hang there heads in shame. Pearson is an embarrassment, and needs councilling on anger, pressure mgmt, and press handling skills. The other is just a nob

Narborough_fox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Anyone with BT Sport, they have an exclusive with Pearson on Sports Hub starting soon. NB: Absolutely nothing new in the interview.
Foxhateram Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I am ashamed of some of you. Pearson stuck up for our players after a journo criticised them on Wednesday night. We have been bloody fantastic in the last Month, no one, I repeat no one, should be criticising our players! Pearson just pointed out that reporter has had his head in the sand if he thinks criticism at this point is necessary. The reporter is an ostrich, he clearly hadn't done his homework and watched us play over the last month. On to the Pat Murphy interview, well, what a bloody disgrace that was! If the boot had been on the other foot, Pearson would have been fined. To publicly goad someone as a bully with arrogance and behaviour issues is bang out of order. I would want disciplinary action taken if I was the owners. Glad someone is standing up to the media. I honestly think some of you would be happier if he came out and said yer were shite and we know it.
LedStar Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Pearson is feeling the heat big time, but is doing a great job with the team and if anyone can get us out of the sh1t then Nige can. Fair play to the man. Asked about the Newcastle game on Saturday, Nige replies: "I've kept really quiet but I'll tell you something, he went down in my estimations when he said that. We have not resorted to that. You can tell Carver now, we're still fighting this relegation and he's got to play West Brom, QPR, West Ham and get something. "And I'll tell you, honestly, I will love it if we beat them. Love it."
For_Fox19 Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 The whole saga has surely had more media attention due to the fact it's happened in a week of so little midweek football, very little excitement because the league title is decided, promoted teams from the championship decided, relegated teams from the championship decided, an FA Cup that is so far away it's probably in the middle of the Ashes or Wimbledon!! Yes it's news, but really.......Talksport dedicated all their Breakfast show to the story.

Corky Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Geoff, were you on commission today on TalkSport? Seemed to give hourly updates and chats!
TrentFox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Anyone seen the Pat Murphy interview on BBC ? Really lays into NFP brilliantly. Very entertaining.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Geoff, were you on commission today on TalkSport? Seemed to give hourly updates and chats! Four times today and back on the breakfast show tomorrow at 6.15 as well Anyone seen the Pat Murphy interview on BBC ? Really lays into NFP brilliantly. Very entertaining. It's not his job to lay into a manager or player, he's there to ask questions, not offer a character assassination. Would he have done the same to Mourinho or a "big name" manager? Nah.

iancognito Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 It's not his job to lay into a manager or player, he's there to ask questions, not offer a character assassination. Exactly. But this is Pat Murphy. 5Live gave him a weekly Friday slot of "Pat Interviews Paul Lambert" where Pat pretty much asked the same questions of Lambert week in week out to get a reaction. He never got one and ended up looking silly most weeks. Looks like Pat has a new target because he sure as hell isn't going to give Pulis or Sherwood that sort of crap.
GingerrrFox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 No idea. And don't care. It was entertaining. I do care about that. Excellent fun. Jog on.
fuchsntf Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Couldn't give a fig what Pearson's says to the press, Mourinho and Van Gaal say what they want to who they want and are heralded for it. I find the whole thing hilarious.I know its end of day, but I just feel, common sense should be repeated, and this immature critic on Pearson, should be laid to rest, ffs Wenger, Ferguson, Mourinho and many others have been heralded has press legends for the same thing, even worse.Sunday supplement journalist must realise, their discussions is just easy simple banter, over a game, not world news breaking incidents. Some Foxforum posters should just get a life, this issue has already been taken far too serious by many. Whats happened to the British humour, or just taking comical put downs. Both Pearson and jounalist have put it behind them, so should the rest of the media, piers morgan, and searchers of ' The meaning of life' on this forum., because not one of you are innocent of not coming out, with irrational babbel.
orangecity23 Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 If Piers Morgan (phone hacker/fabricator of false stories claiming British troops abused prisoners) disapproves of something you've done, it's probably a good indicator that you are on the morally decent side of the issue.
