Harry - LCFC Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Nigel's face really says it all. He was seething inside. I think I'd be quite annoyed if someone continued to criticise me after I'd apologised for what I did too.
MPH Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Interestingly a lot of my mates who support a variety of clubs all think Pearson comes out of it badly looking like a spoilt kid. Not my opinion. For me Pearson comes out of this smelling of roses... Not only did it show that he was hurting after a defeat... even a defeat to the champions elect, he also apologised. Its a win-win for him, surely...
roblcfc84 Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 At the end of day NP is ostrichcising fans and the media with this type of behaviour...
Pen 3 Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 When you take on the job as a football manager a key part - as well as success on the pitch - is to be an ambassador and spokesperson for your club. This season Pearson has sometimes behaved bizarrely, sometimes disgracefully, and he has often become the story and overshadowed what we've achieved in recent seasons (perplexingly what he has helped achieve). The guy is just short of useless in press conferences and win or lose, stay up or go down, and whatever the for and against camps trade as insults, one thing is is for sure, this manager has made us the laughing stock of the Football League this season. If he is to stand any chance of being here in a few weeks he better help us stay up for his own sake - because he's unemployable in the football world!
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Nige is a football manager of a premier league club, If I was in his position I wouldn't take too kindly to being ridiculed and goaded by a sports journalist from the squeky clean BBC.

The second half of that comment and particularly the last sentence is so factually inaccurate it's almost as if you're an ostrich.
Corky Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Unemployable in the football world? Have you seen some of the characters football employs and their past dealings?
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Imagine a world where Harry Redknapp, John Terry, Marlon King, Martin Allen to name but 4 are employable, but big Nige isn't.

KFS Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 You can imagine Pat in his car coming up with all those lines, only to arrive at the KP to be seen off by an abject Nige. Love it

I think you need to wipe your lips, that's a hell of a lot of bullshit just shot out.
Charl91 Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Nigel has come out of this looking like a bit of a tit, is the general consensus (i.e, the consensus of people without blue-tinted specs). I think he came off much better in his second interview, however I don't think it makes up for the original one. I must admit, I did laugh at the Ostrich bit, but he's not done himself any favours.
LanguedocFox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Interestingly a lot of my mates who support a variety of clubs all think Pearson comes out of it badly looking like a spoilt kid. Not my opinion. Find some new mates, then.
TrentFox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I loved this exchange Pat passionately "your apology to the journalist was more heartfelt than to that fan" NP deadpan "I didn't apologise to the fan" That's brilliant.

I think he came off much better in his second interview, however I don't think it makes up for the original one. I must admit, I did laugh at the Ostrich bit, but he's not done himself any favours. Sam Allardyce and John Carver (for two) don't have blue-tinted specs. Fact is that Pearson reacted badly (but not that badly) to Ian Baker, and apologised to him in person and in public. That did him a lot of favours - and Twàt Murphy did him a lot more favours by insulting him at today's press conference.
Larry_LCFC Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 There is no doubt Pearson behaved like a cock and he was bang out of order in my opinion. However, he has come out and admitted he was wrong and apologized publicly which is fair enough. I'm not quite sure what the prat Pat was hoping to achieve in his failed attempt to wind NP up. The bottom line is this saga will be forgotten about come Saturday tea time. I just hope Nigel has learnt a valuable lesson and we can move forward to survival.
Carl the Llama Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Thought Pat redeemed himself a bit with his praise for the efforts of Pearson and the players, but he clearly came with that line of questioning rehearsed already and wasn't going to let anything - like an apology rendering most of his points redundant - stop him.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Patronising drivel from Pat Murphy in that interview. Thought Pearson straight batted him away really well to be fair. I think the media are the worst thing about the Premier League, managers and players are expected to pander to them to give them stories that suit their agenda.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Nige sent Wasyl to follow him down dark alleyways after that interview. Well done to Nige for staying calm and collected, jesus what a tosser
Raj Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Think OurGeoff needs to "sort out" Murphy!!...Over to you Geoff!!!!
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Pat likes to sneer at non-BBC folk (and some inside it). I suspect he felt he had to justify being there by asking BIG QUESTIONS and making BIG STATEMENTS. I was there but didn't ask one question. When it came to my turn, everything I was going to ask had already been asked and there was no point going over everything again just to get "my voice" used.
AKCJ Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Right, this is well worth 7 minutes of any Leicester fan's time. Last night Nigel felt he was "over the top" with his criticisms of the so-called "ostrich" and has since apologised to him. Now, in today's press conference Nige and his press officer were joined by Pat Murphy, an experienced journalist from the midlands. Murphy came with a clear agenda to attack Nigel and, as he put it, "stand up" for journalists because he thinks Nigel has been a bully. Now, I find it incredibly strange that any journalist that has covered Nigel's press conferences can have any arguments against him. They come in their droves week in week out with one objective. Wind him up. Listen as the man lectures him, thinking he's some fountain of knowledge ( ) in media circles. Yes Nigel shouldn't bite and he should probably just bite his tongue and lie to journalists in order to help fill their columns and everyone will be happy. But his attitude of "i'll let you know what you want to know when you start talking to me like an adult" should be seriously praised and it's absolutely no wonder that Nigel has received plenty of praise from the likes of Allardyce for this mentality. I personally found Murphy's "the media generates a lot of money for football so you should treat us with a bit of respect" line absolutely appalling. How about, if football didn't exist then you wouldn't have a job? This constant ding dong between press and Pearson is growing tiresome. If the likes of Murphy want to start taking the high ground with pathetic rants such as the one below, then please start treating our manager like a human being and not one of your Premier League Press robots like Bruce, Dyche and Pardew. Yesterday's questioning from the journalist (ostrich) was poor. Everyone could see it was poor. We'd been bottom of the league for 140 days. Of course we'd been under criticism. It didn't need flagging up and it was clearly just another thinly veiled attempt to get under Nige's skin to watch him explode. I would very much like to hear from aspiring or perhaps an established journalist's take on the matter. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32537484
