weller54 Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 Seems this guy, (who's now 20 years old) is going to get very little opportunities to break into the first team, with 5 senior strikers in front of him... He's had a fantastic season in the under 21 's and has played for his Country... How do you see his career developing with us from next season?

He's had a fantastic season in the under 21 's and has played for his Country... How do you see his career developing with us from next season? We're fighting to beat relegation this season and I imagine that'll be the first objective next season as well. It's difficult for a club in our position to offer first team football to a player like him when we have forwards such as Ulloa, Vardy, Nugent and Kram ahead of him and injuries have been fairly kind to us. Should go out on loan next season. If he was a special talent then Nige would have made room for him like he has done with Schlupp, King and Moore.
Fox92 Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 He won't get pushed into a relegation side. If Nige thinks he's good enough, he'll be given a chance. Lets not forget Nige gave him his debut, as well as players such as Moore and Gradel.
LCCFox96 Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 He'll probably go out on loan to the Championship next season. He will need to test himself on that level for at least 6months - 1 year before he can conceivably start playing for us. If he was good enough already, he'd likely have been involved given how bad we have been at certain stages of the season!
Jimothy Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 I don't see what relevance making his debut for his country has on how far he can go at City or whether he should be starting. He's playing for St Kitts and Nevis, not Brazil. Can't see Pearson filling the squad with Gibraltar and Andorra international next season just because they've received international caps. I mean well done to him for getting called up, but international recognition for St Kitts and Nevis is hardly a reason to propel someone into a premier league line up.
Webbo Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 Got to get a long term loan somewhere next season. There are a few youngsters that need to step up next season or leave. Blyth, Hopper, Cain and Harry P. I can see there being a bit of a clear out this summer.
Rob1742 Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 A decent product from our academy, but can't see him making the step up to our current first team. I would expect him to end up at Doncaster or somewhere like that, with us trying to hold onto him to enable us to recoup some of the money we have spent on his development. He has done well, but probably league one or two player.
muzzy1981 Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 They have a fairly straight forward system with youths, if they consistently perform for U21 and they think they are ready they loan them out and if they do really well they have a good chance of eventually breaking into the first team squad. Schlupp and Moore have both done this and more recently Lawrence

I can see there being a bit of a clear out this summer. Not 100% of all their ages but if they are under 21 next year they won't be going anywhere The whole idea of the U21 league was to give players like this time to develop but in a competitive manner . We simply don't have the numbers to fill 16 18 and 21 teams every week Suppose alternatively we sell the players you mention to generate some cash and reinvest in some U18 or U19 players ?

I can see there being a bit of a clear out this summer. Panayiotou, Cain and Hopper will still be u/21 next season so we will keep them. I think the likes of Blyth and Adam Dawson who are already 21, going on 22 and are out of contract will be the youngsters moved on. Anybody over 22 and not currently involved in the first team will find footballing opportunities at the club scarce so will probably need to be moved on for their own development.
FoxCal Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 I was at school with him, and despite not thinking his 'character' was all that (on a personal level, not footballing) he was always decent when I saw him play. However, he never struck me as a world beater and in all honesty thought his brother, Alex, was better. We were both at Aylestone Park too for a very short time before I fell out of love with it (mainly down to the people involved with how things were run) but they were both better than the vast majority of the lads there, and they were all a cut above for our age group, the 'Youth' side in particular. In spite of that, Harry is the only one of them that's ever looked like making it, and a few of them are now at places like Oadby Town and so on (or at least were the last I knew). Honestly, having seen some of what he's done at the academy, he looks to have improved a lot over the last few years so who's to say that he won't continue to do that at a rate of knots? He probably deserves another cameo at some point, but I'm not convinced to any degree that he'll ever be a Premier League player, though I think he could be a half decent player at a lower mid-table Championship side. Somewhere like Sheffield Wednesday (or, ironically, Leeds?). I imagine he'll end up being more of a sporadic, five to ten goals a season striker as opposed to the twenty goal a season man every side craves, but he's the kind of person who has a lot of drive, so I wouldn't bet against him proving me wrong. Either way, personal opinion of him aside, I genuinely wish him all the best, whether it's here or elsewhere!

I think 10% of the people here could play for his country. He needs to go out on loan to League 1.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 Next season, we should loan him out, so that he can gain more experience, at first team level. Championship side would be ideal.
Tuna Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 Never gonna make it. League 2 level at best like Ashley Chambers.
lcfcsnow Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 I think 10% of the people here could play for his country. He needs to go out on loan to League 1. Already happened and he made a grand total of 0 appearances. The reason the u21s are doing well is because we went out and filled out the squad with average standard players at league 2/conference level - Dawson, Pearson, Davis, Scott, Watson, Blyth none of them will make it, we kind of cheated to compete at the higher level. If anything it isn't helping the progress of some of the U18s like Choudhury and Ndukwu who have had limited playing time at that level. Of the current batch of u21s Chilwell is the only hope.
sylofox Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 Young lad plays one game in the championship and people think he should get a go in a Prem dog fight season. Why is he one of our own? The under 21's is a world away from the prem as most under 21's at most prem clubs will find out. If Nige really thought he could do it he would get in the squad at least.
Bettsj2 Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 Never gonna make it. League 2 level at best like Ashley Chambers. This. Cant believe some people are still going on about Tom Hopper.
matty98 Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 why would you completely rule out a player you've probably not even seen? It's so ridiculous, why not just support the lad and hope he makes it with us
Haydos Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 why would you completely rule out a player you've probably not even seen? It's so ridiculous, why not just support the lad and hope he makes it with us Because Nigel Pearson and his team are a better judge of footballing talent than me. And you surprisingly enough.
matty98 Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 Because Nigel Pearson and his team are a better judge of footballing talent than me. And you surprisingly enough. Pearson hasn't ruled him out and said he'll never make it though?
The Horse's Mouth Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 he's got the best goal scoring ratio in the first team atm.
shailen Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 If he does it at professional level then I'd give him a chance. Loan him out and see if he can prove himself.
MPH Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 Give him 6 months at somewhere like Coventry next season. If he does amazing, get him the 2nd half of the season in the champ...,
