I can't see a thread about his attendance at the game yesterday. Obviously he'd be looking at Southampton players but I wonder if he's tempted with any of ours?

I'm not sure Vardy scores enough goals for him to warrant an England cap as it's rare to see a forward called up that hasn't scored 20 a season (may be Heskey was the last) but even Heskey scored more than Vardy. I don't think effort alone is enough at international level. If he scores more goals next season then I would say it would be a no brainer

James could have been of interest but obviously that's  a dead end now. I'd choose  Drinkwater or James over Delph, one of the most over rated players ever IMO.

I wonder if the dark horse is Albrighton? Possibly one of the best crossers of the ball in the country and he's been in fine form. Imagine the pride if any of our starlets could muster a cap!

My post from another thread

Woy was in the crowd today? Maybe to cast an eye over Vardy as well as the other England lot?

I'm not suggesting he'd get anywhere near the Euro squad but we've only got a couple of pub teams in slovenia and san marino in the quals after Ireland away.

the two former are no more than conference standard. Vards would run riot

Vardy pressuring the San Marino deffence would be cruel. There's probably a Human Rights law that would stop it from happening.

Well this is it. It would strike me as a bit of a pointless exercise getting him in a Qualifier squad when you know he'd get nowhere near the Euro squad. People think you need to be good to play for England. Not against San Marino.

Albrighton isn't a bad shout.

There are no players in our squad that Roy needs to look at. sad, but true. Potentially DD if he manages to push on and MJ if he can come back but that's it. Vardy would find a lot of yellow cards with his style and European referrees, even if his technical ability was high enough for international level - which it isn't. no idea why we want our players being dragged off to play international football with the associated risks of injury.

Disagree. The only way I can fall in love with England again would be to see our player playing.

It's quite possible he was there to watch our style of play. It wouldn't be ridiculous for him to want to view how a team is pulling off the 5-3-2 & winning games

But if he was there for players clyne, Bertrand & maybe albrighton as a side note.

Slightly harsh that! Considering he is getting assists for fun at the minute and has scored a couple of goals recently as well as terrorising defenders into lunging in so they get sent off.

I agree that he doesn't score enough goals but to suggest his only quality is effort is rubbish.

Vardy would probably be very suited to International football. For a long time at major tournaments, for what ever reason we have seemed to play with no urgency. Never really got out of first gear. I can't even think of anyone off the top of my head as a comparison. I really hope he gets a chance as he deserves it. It's a shame he didn't get to play at a higher level earlier but then again maybe that's why he is how he is.

Drinkwater?! Seriously?!

I know we're doing well as a team and some individuals are standing out but he's far from an England cap.

Hodgson was looking at Clyne & Bertrand.

As much as we'd love it to be our players, he wasn't there for us.

Yep, had his sights on at least two Southampton players for sure.

Can't see him needing to nominate Vardy at all, as long as the usual suspects are still out there. But who knows - maybe he's at least good enough for a friendly?

He'd have learnt that Schlupp & Albrighton made them look average yesterday. Everytime Jeff took on Clyne it was catch me if you can and everytime Bertrand got a bit closer to Albrighton he whipped in an even better cross from a tighter angle.

Whilst he might look at Vardy, Rooney, Welbeck, Sturridge, Sterling, Berahino and even little Theo would probably still come ahead of him in Woy's thinking. Not my opinion, just how it is at international level.

This thing about Schlupp looking defensive suspect I believe is a myth.

Granted, every so often, he'll do something a little daft.

But over recent weeks, he's given opposition players on that right side, nothing to work with.

He made Nathan Dyer look very average.

He made Clyne look no better.

It's clear he's a wing back. Finally, he's being played correctly.

Albrighton's form would catch anyone's attention! Also, his work rate has been top notch. Played more like a right back at times yesterday though.

Totally agree.  He's been one of the reasons we have been in such good form.

Be decent if roy just came out and was like yeah I wasn't watching anyone just thought it'd be a good game really.
