How much would its cost us to replace Esteban Cambiasso in today's market

Got to be talking 20-25m. He's the best by a country mile I've ever seen in a city shirt in 30 years of me going down

Can you keep your sex life out of it please.

It is a football forum with kids on here  :)

If you wanted a 26 year old Esteban you'd be looking at 30m+ easily.

Look at Adam Lallana and Ander Herrera, both cost over 25m and they're doggo.

He's a year older next season - his stamina is fine but his mobility is only going in one direction. His ability covers a lot on this but at his age, a like for like replacement wouldn't be a fortune. Tbh, few would buy someone who can't maintain a sprint in the PL.

I hope that he stays but we need to get quality in so he doesn't have to play every game. We need to manage him if he is here.

Players like cambiasso come around very rarely hence him having the most titles of any argentinian. Basically talking a world class player so Unabomber is probably about right 30m ish. Sometimes you can get lucky, Spurs got van der vaart for a bargain a few years ago but generally 30m is probably about right

What has helped us is his experience. Well where do you find another like that.

Alonso, xavi? Maybe you can pick a player like that up. But they are few and far between.

And if you're then talking about finding someone on the mid 20s they don't have his experience and they ain't coming to us anyway.

What is different about him from other players is that he has never been one to run about all game. He is more about positioning himself in the right positions so we haven't lost the fitness side of his value. His technical qualities are still there. Him in his prime would be worth 25m. I don't think he is that far away from what he was in his prime. Think he is the cleverest footballer I've seen on the pitch and that experience is invaluable to us.

Not sure we could replace him. He's fairly unique in that he has the experience of winning pretty much everything in football, yet he also puts absolutely everything into playing for us. Not sure we could find another like him.

The chap in your profile picture would be a good place to start

We could cryogenically freeze him between each game. He'd only be 38 days older by the end of next season.

I still can't believe we even have Esteban on the books in the first place.  No chance we'll be able to bring in someone else both similar in ability and with his vast experience, but hopefully we won't need to.  Whatever happens I'm sure Nige & Co will have something up their collective sleeve.

It's his experience and direction on the pitch that would be as hard to replace as his ability.

This. What is astonishing is his character and determination. He didn't need to come and play for us in the first place...

True he's down to earth. Compare him to someone like Balotelli for example. You can see why he has had such a successful career.. He would have every right to be a big time Charlie with what he's achieved but he seems like one of the lads. Balotelli thinks hes some kind of superstar and no club seems to want to keep him. To be honest most top players would see coming to us after we had just been promoted as beneath them, not esteban.

Mancini was an absolute disgrace at Leicester, never looked like he wanted to be here and put almost no effort in, when I saw us linked with Cambi I thought he might be like that, how much has he proved that wrong. You couldn't find a more decent, intelligent and committed player.
