Nigel Pearson: I'm not as daft as some people think I am - Telegraph Interview

Don't think NP is arrogant but defends his players and his corner. Whats wrong with that? Met him about half a dozen times always nice and seems grounded up for a laugh. The media spice up things to sell papers

I do wish some of the fans, especially the Pearson haters, could see what he's like in "real life" rather than the stuff he does in front of a camera. He's a complex character for sure, sometimes very hard to fathom, and I wish he'd show his human side in interviews more often.

That'll be Knockaert. It stings to read that, still can't believe how this season has turned out for him. Doesn't look like he'll be involved on Sunday, a real shame. His relationship with the fans warrants a chance for us all to say goodbye.

Thanks Mr Random Silly. Still enjoying your voice on the radio. Keep it up.

Not. Cambiasso. Please. Not. Cambiasso.

Too much of a man to start crying. The guy's a rock and a model professional. I highly doubt he'd let such emotions come into play here.

More a case of "Au revoir, Knocky!"

Shame for Knocky really.

His passion and energy can never be doubted. Whether he had enough ability at this level remains to be seen, but having been offered a deal he must have been somewhere in Pearson's plans. Obvious he had family issues earlier in the year, which might have influenced his decision to move closer to home. Good luck kid, shared a few ups and downs with us in the 3 years he was here.

Knocky

It's the right thing to do because he's not going to play here because he doesn't suit how we play but it's upsetting to see him go.

When we had years of absolutely horseshit (copyright kitchandro) players on the wings it was refreshing to have Knocky because he was a little box of tricks, he was foreign and exciting, Steve Walsh had picked up a gem from Guingamp, there was a buzz. He broke the Pearson player mould, he was a maverick, if Cantona was a bottle of coke, Knocky was a can. The goals against Huddersfield, the free kick that secured promotion, that penalty (bloody frenchmen), the other watford game and of course allez les blues, allez les blues.

But for me, at least, it wasn't what he did on the pitch technically it was how he did it, he exuded confidence but it was his work rate, he really tried, he cared, he cared about the fans, it was like what we all dreamed of doing.

One quote that sums him up, (I'm paraphrasing here) was from a Guingamp fan,

Anthony is good, but he's stupid, really stupid.

And thats we love him.

Hard not to feel for him, he's a likeable guy.

I was at the awards on Monday and when we asked him if he was staying he shrugged his shoulders and said I don't know. He then had about a 20 minute conversation with Nigel which looked very deep and thoughtful, so I sensed this may be the last I saw of him.

It's a difficult one because while I love his passion and general character I also have total faith in Pearson and there must be a reason he has frozen him out this year other than he's just a stubborn bloke.

If we kept everyone that was likeable we would still have Hume up front and Chris weale in goal. No problem with being sentimental but it's no way to run a premier league football club.

Do you know much of the man in "real life", just out of interest? I hear all types of adjectives used to describe Pearson, behind the scenes. If all these descriptions are true, then why exactly is he so keen to hide this from the media and subsequently the public? Is it possible that he sees it as a sign of weakness? Surely he would be making his life much easier by being the likeable Pearson who players and selected journalists alike seem to like so much?

Sorry for all the questions. As you say, hard to fathom.

He can be a bit odd at times but aside from a couple of small, fairly irrelevant things I've always got on fine with him. Trying to deconstruct his persona isn't easy. There are probably some days when he's best avoided but that's the same for all of us. I think he's found the media glare especially bright this season but he says he's learned a lot from it. There aren't many in the media who don't like him.

Just hope we get a chance to show our appreciation to him.

Knocky is the only person who reduces me to tears. Tears of happiness against forest, tears of sadness against Watford and now this :(

I assume nige will be too professional to play him just so we can all cry together but surely he'll be there for the end of season lap of honour?

A 10 minute cameo will do. Tackles Joey Barton on the halfway line, couple of step overs to beat Dunne, jinx pasts caulker to leave him on his arris, then chips it over an onrushing Robert green.

Knocky could just have signed the contract.

Probably had been peeling onions before going into the office.
