I'm surprised by the number of people taking the 'holier than thou' approach on here. I can understand people worrying about how Thai owners, or media might react to it, but a lot of people on here appear to be taking genuine offence themselves. 

 

I can accept that nobody particularly wishes to see young men misspending (possibly) lots of money on work jollies, or having sex with (possibly) prostitutes, or (possibly having) group sex, and I understand that a lot of people on here can't identify with their behaviour. As for the racist language, it's perfectly possible that this is being taken out of context; behind closed doors lots of liberal-minded people jokingly use language which, out of context, would be racially offensive.

 

And there lies the real problem. I have no problem with people misspending their money on work jollies, or having group sex. I'm not even particularly judgemental where it comes to people having sex with prostitutes, regardless of its legality. And I think it's theoretically possible for all of those racial insults recorded to be used in a way which isn't racist. The problem is that this has been recorded, and that they not only allowed that to happen, they appear to be responsible for and unanimously embracing the fact that that's happening.

 

I wouldn't like to speculate on what has gone on in all of your bedrooms and hotel rooms over the years, the things you've got up to, the things you've said while you got up to them. But those things don't tend to come out into the open, except for last week when there seemed to bodily fluids all over this place, mainly directed towards Esteban Cambiasso. So I'm annoyed that this thing is come to light, rather than the fact that it happened. And yes, it does look horrible - it seems racist, sexist, irresponsible and all of those are bad things. And yes, it could be very damaging. For instance, what happens if either Nigel digs his heels in regarding his son, or the board digs its heels in in terms of wanting public recriminations?

 

But I think it's very hard to be offended by what has actually happened. When people were voicing their views on Ched Evans lots of people were saying that they'd got a woman drunk and ushered her back home, and in the course of this debate people have owned up to paying for sex, or engaging in bizarre sexual practices. Maybe they should be ashamed for that, maybe not. But I don't think most of us are morally puritanical enough to be personally offended at what these guys have done. Except for the bit where they recorded it, of course.

 

Surely, given the potential effect of what these "men" did, given the relationship of Thai owners and their contacts and sponsors , they should have a greater awareness of the fallout from this than your average overpaid dick that thinks he can get away with anything because he has wealth?

It's this mentality that is the problem, this is not boys will be boys, this is showing no respect towards women and being completely racist which is a disgrace in itself but this this is to the same race as of our owners who pay there wages

Are you for real? Consenting adults can do what they like and from what I can tell, prostitutes or not, consent doesn't seem to be an issue in this case. For some people, male and female, rimming or being rimmed is an essential part of foreplay and maybe their only root to sexual ecstasy. I personally don't like it and I don't really have the stomach to watch another bloke's arse getting a tonguing, but it doesn't matter what we find sexually appealing or not. Consenting adults can do these things and your outrage/disgust is completely irrelevant.

 

One of my favourite quotes on this comes from the dissenting words of Lord Mustill speaking in a UK case (R v Brown[1994]) which I really recommend reading (enough degrading behaviour to make you even more outraged):

The most high profile case being that of John Terry who was found guilty by the FA but not the police. I'd imagine that some of the complainers might be guilty of double standards if the players in question were first team regulars and not academy products who aren't idolised on the terraces.

 

I can't even pretend to be outraged by the sex acts however unsavory some may find them but you cannot condone any form of racism. Whoever made that remark should have their contract terminated but it remains to be seen whether the club will deem that the behaviour of the other two amounts to gross misconduct and therefore worthy of dismissal. I guess that will be down to the lawyers. It would be best for all concerned if they were all moved on though.

They invited the team to Thailand for publicity, so to further their brand at home and build support for the team. These little pervs have done the worst possible thing given the circumstances. I really hope they sack them a soon as possible and considering Nige was sacked for making the club look bad, it doesn't look good for these nobodies. You've got to feel for Nige though. He must be feeling really let down. I just hope it doesn't spiral out of control and Nige end up leaving as well.

I really do feel for Big Nige at the moment. It's tough for him on a professional and personal level but he's a strong enough character to come through it.
