Danno Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 The most surprising thing for me about all of this is the fact that Tom Hopper still plays for us, I thought we sold him ages ago.
bovril Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 If Pearson wasn't the one who said the 'slit-eye' comment I doubt he'll be sacked. Probably a fine for him and Smith but Hopper to be sacked. He won't be around next year. Whatever the details of what each individual did, to sack two but keep on the manager's son would be pr disaster.
Fox Ulike Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 Hopefully Pearson stays well out of it, and lets the process take its course. Well, if the club do release the players, Pearson will have to speak out in support of it. This will be a major decision by the club, and they can't have their own manager not speaking out in support of it. He won't be able to hide behind his "that's my business" responses on this one. Nigel Pearson will be asked to publically support the sacking of his own son. I just hope he can separate his roles as Manager and father.
GiantDave Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 OK, so firstly if you are going to dismiss someone they have to be a proven, valid, legal reason i.e gross misconduct, not just because the vast majority of people think your behaviour is unacceptable - which for the record I do. Rightly or wrongly you just can't dismiss people because you want to. Secondly you cannot assume that the women were prostitutes regardless of where they were. Thirdly, are all the people that were making snidey remarks about what will be going on in Thailand, (lady boy jokes etc) when the tour was announced, now all shocked and horrified now it has happened. We all knew they were going on the piss and some would be hanging out the back. These idiots filmed it and sent it home but are you honestly surprised that's what they were doing? If they hadn't said "slit-eye" its a total non story Wrong, the main point is that they went to Thailand and they insulted Thailand bringing the reputation of the owners into disrepute. Face is very important in Asian cultures and this is terrible publicity for the owners and could bring their brand image down in Thailand and around local markets, which is the whole reason for owning the football club in the first place. This has also got into the papers in other local Asian countries which all mention 'Premier league stars' (Terrible lazy journalism) but also brings the reputation of football and even western people in Asia down. It's more than just a lads holiday and banging some prostitutes. This could have a huge impact on the brand image around Asia and the owners will have to be seen to take a strong stance against this in order to save face and reputation. The culture is totally different in Asia and this is why it couldn't have happened in a worse place.
westernpark Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 I feel this is something that will see people's opinions change over time about it. I initially thought this could be brushed under the carpet and was no big deal. But this really is abhorrent and vile. Perhaps the people defending them on here have a vested interest .
Far Post Gerry Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 If Pearson wasn't the one who said the 'slit-eye' comment I doubt he'll be sacked. Probably a fine for him and Smith but Hopper to be sacked. People shouldn't concentrate on that racist remark so much; it obviously wasn't good, but the British are a bit more sensitive about it than other countries. The big issue, in the eyes of the owners, will be the lack of respect. Vichai invites these lads to his country, people that represent him and his team, and they embarrass him in public. Trust me, that doesn't go down well in Thailand. He'll be seething.
thybluefox Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 If any one of them was to be treated more harshly, then I'd fully expect NPs son to get both barrels. As the managers son he should have been acutely aware of how his actions could affect the club. Instead, it appears he's a massive bellend......

Far Post Gerry Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 Hahaha what? So racially abusing people is fine in Thailand? Not quite what I said is it? The respect is the big issue - the racist remark is just one part of it
ramboacdc Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 is it right there should be an apostrophe after "stars" in the title? it's bugging me that i don't think it should.
bovril Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 is it right there should be an apostrophe after "stars" in the title? it's bugging me that i don't think it should. Yes it's correct.
Silverdaz Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 I wouldnt like to Pearson junior when he has to face his mum
SystonFox Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 Annoyed they've all deleted their own Twitter accounts. Bunch of cop outs
Bettsj2 Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 You can and we have. I'd expect the clubs investigation to not assume though, whether they are or aren't doesn't really matter anyway considering some of the content. Not sure why anybody has gone down the road of thinking they may not be prostitutes. I'm not sure its possible to be that charming that you can pick a girl up in a foreign country and break down the language barrier enough to convince them to have a gang bang, lick your ass and have it filmed. Maybe we're wrong. Maybe the three of them are Gatsby incarnates?
Danno Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 Annoyed they've all deleted their own Twitter accounts. Bunch of cop outsIn my experience every footballer has whenever something bad has come up about them.

Babylon Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 In my experience every footballer has whenever something bad has come up about them. I'm not sure it's just footballers, I'm sure we'd do the same had we been filmed legs in the air and... well you know the rest.
daddylonglegs Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 Was I the only one who physically couldn't watch the whole thing without feeling genuinely ill? What on earth are they thinking? This is a classic example of people being given everything to them on a plate so they think they can take advantage of everything. 3 journeymen wannabe professional footballers have just ruined their opportunity at the best life in the world as a pro footballer. It's not even that it's disappointing, it's that it's horrifically frustratingly, disgusting in summary: basics what everyone else said
urban.spaceman Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 Annoyed they've all deleted their own Twitter accounts. Bunch of cop outs I think that was more a measure by the club to prevent any sort of comment for the press to use. Also evidenced by the remarkable social media silence by practically everyone assosciated with the club
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 Hahaha what? So racially abusing people is fine in Thailand? I don't know about Thailand, but there are parts of the world where racism is nowhere near as big a taboo as it is here. Australia (by and large), for example. The absolute disrespect by all three is probably the biggest matter at hand for the owners. The racism is probably the icing on the cake. Can't imagine if only one of them said anything perceived to be racist that they'll be the only one facing serious punishment

I think you are, I am not.
