I really hope Pearson has learnt not to play slow full backs at wing back, after the Simpson and Konchesky horror show how could he not?

Would you rather Konchesky, Schlupp, or Fuchs as starter if we ever have to play a back 4? I agree with playing Schlupp if we're playing with a back 3, but we'll have to play a back 4 at some points, and we'll have Fuchs at left back and de Laet at right back in those cases.

I dont see why people are moaning about his pace when the best wingback we have ever had was Steve Guppy who was not the quickest.

Also the reason Konchesky and Simpson are so horrendous as wingbacks isn't because they're slow, it's because they're terrible at attacking.

From my Schalke supporting mate:

"Sounds likely; Schalke hasn’t prolonged his contract. He is too old and slow for my liking, but if you get him for free, why not. His biggest strength are throw-ins that are like corners."

Sounds like Robbie Neilson.

Signed for Swansea apparently. Although if we are to trust the twitter sources, imma open a twitter and tweet that we've signed Messi, Neymar and Suarez from Barca in exchange for Taylor fletcher

Just not at all believable, what a ridiculous suggestion.

GTF's contract has run out. They just have to offer him 100k a week and they can play him alongside those 3.

Granted, but the Premier League has moved on since the Guppy days and wingers have become so much faster over the past 10+ years. I doubt Guppy in his prime would be able to cope backtracking now.

Has anyone pointed out that Fuchs means fox in German?

EDIT: of course, Vossen has. What other languages do you know, renard?

Not sure if you have heard but Suarez only eats people mate.

Well I'm certain Konch could have played for Austria in his prime and didn't he play European football a fair bit at Fulham and Liverpool? ft.

Austria a good side in this generation. Top of their qualification group as its stands. Schalke a CL regular in his four year spell there. I suspect Fuchs would be more of a defined full back as opposed to the wing back role Schlupp plays and Konchesky can not.

This has all come from one bloke on twitter with about 12 followers.  Now it's in national newspapers. There's no more substance to it is there?

Three more months of this...

Have i missed the release of the retained list?? I just wonder if Konch has been released hence going away with family rather than going out with the rest of the squad?

fixed

People comparing him to Konch though lol - he's still just on the right side of 30, so should have a few more years at the top level in him, pace could be an issue but you'd expect as a champions league player, he's probably got a bit more positional nous than the likes of Danny Simpson.

He scored against Real Madrid? Fingers crossed he is the next Lloyd Dyer

Fingers crossed he isn't and he's actually good enough for the Premier League.
