Nigel Pearson's shock sacking appears to have ended Leicester's hopes of signing Caen midfielder N'Golo Kante.

The Foxes removed Pearson on Tuesday evening, apparently for non-football reasons, after he miraculously saved them from relegation in May.

It appears Pearson was working hard for the club, with a view to the upcoming season, by getting the deal to land the 24-year-old powerhouse in place.

However, according to reports in France, the surprise dismissal of Pearson from the King Power hot seat has left the trail cold.

Kante played 75 league matches for Caen over the last two seasons, winning promotion at the end of the 2013-14 campaign and helping to keep them up in the most recent.

Hope this is just speculation bullshit - I imagine the scouting team and Rudkin would seal the deal anyhow.

Hang on, everyone was reporting he wasn't going to join us anyway. That said, they also said that about Kramaric and he did in the end.

Doesn't really matter if we agree a fee. He prefers to move to Marseille, if they up their bid for him, which they will to match ours, he'll move there.

Pretty sure Marseille signed an alternative to him?

Not that I know of, they recently sold Imbula to Porto, that's why they want this guy as a replacement.

Wow, looking at translations of their tweets (Caen that is). Looks like they are reluctant to sell to Marseille due to a lack of respect shown and will accept a bid from us soon, then it is up to N'Golo himself. I've gotta be honest I thought the deal was completely dead, and that was before the sacking if Pearson

Interesting, shows how much faith the club have in our scouting system, perhaps that's why we're going for Hiddink, literally just give him the players and let him get on with it. Would probably feel a bit more at ease knowing they are still following their same format for signings.

Which is like working as an international manager I guess.

So would I. I trust our recruitment process massively. Was Walsh still at Chelsea in 2009?

That's my thinking behind it all. I don't think he wants to sign players, perhaps that's why he enjoyed international football for so long.

The people above assemble his squad and he works on the coaching side of things.

Ditto! The club set up is strong so the last thing we want is to rip that up and start again!
