Gerard Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 According to this he has three more years so I can't imagine Caen accepting an offer below Leicester's unless they're legally obliged to for some reason. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ngolo-kante/profil/spieler/225083
Bagworthblue Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 According to this he has three more years so I can't imagine Caen accepting an offer below Leicester's unless they're legally obliged to for some reason. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ngolo-kante/profil/spieler/225083 if this is the case, OM need to stump up enough cash to close in on what we are offering..... unless Caen need the cash now! Are Caen saying they are in no rush to sell? They should be whether they need the cash now or not to force the players hand into going to the highest bidder and rejecting the lower offer!!! Worst case scenario if all falls apart they are left with their star player and have equity rather than cash. If Kante 'get's injured a lot' / or refuses to play etc, his stock decreases and he risks losing out on a move altogether so this isn't a good option for him - hence the balance of power has now shifted away from Kante in favour of Caen .
Dan Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 Marseille are kidding themselves if they're trying to take us on for wages. We could blow them out of the water. Milk their prestige and facilities to him. That might swing him. I still think he'll end up at Marseille though sadly.

Gerard Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 They need to match us on transfer fee first. If they don't Caen will tell Kante that he can stay there for three more years on €10k a week or go to Leicester for €40-50k a week. It's also a statement by both Leicester and Marseille how much they value the player. Kante probably isn't a millionaire yet so money will be a huge factor.
matty98 Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 have i missed something? thought Caen and Marseille had agreed on a fee?
Bagworthblue Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 have i missed something? thought Caen and Marseille had agreed on a fee? seems there is some doubt about this whether true or speculation
nnfox Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 I don't buy into the whole "we could trump their wages offer". It was only 12 months ago, people on here were speculating how we could pay Cambiasso around 30k per week. One season in the Prem and people are quoting 40k per week for a 24 year old from France who hasn't won anything - as good as he might be. I appreciate we might be able to pay a bit more now than last season and wages will go up the longer we hang around in this league but slow and steady will win the day. Our owners are shrewd and savvy businessmen and have an eye for the sustainable long term future. We aren't going to do a QPR and start flinging money around for the sake of it. I firmly believe that our scouting network has a core value in obtaining exceptional value for money and there is no doubt that when scouting Kante who is currently on around 10k per week, there would have been a realistic thinking that we could land him by offering him a 100% pay rise - maybe a bit higher but 40k? Really?
Carl the Llama Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 If it's true that we have no difficulty competing with teams like Marseille for purchasing power then the English game is more broken than I realised. It's like us competing with Man Utd in terms of where Marseille stand in France right now.

It's like us competing with Man Utd in terms of where Marseille stand in France right now. There's just more revenue here, not sure if that makes it broken, but the appeal of the premier league is there for a reason. Any premier league club could afford to out do Marseille on wages based on revenue.

Really? A fair post, but I do think if they wanted someone that badly they would stump up the cash. QPR's problem isn't just the money they spend (which I'd guess is more than £40k a week), but the fact they 'invest' it into players with no real re-sale value. They're the jammiest club on earth if they're about to land 25% of the Sterling money.
purpleronnie Posted 27 June 2015 Posted 27 June 2015 £££££££ €€€€€€€ $$$$$$$ Good point, earn twice as much and live wherever you like in 10 years time. You would hope a players decision would be based on playing in the best league they can not by greed or lifestyle. He would have been paid very well here but I think a lot of players just want the easiest possible career that pays the most. Maybe some can relate to that but this is a sportsman nwho's career will be judged on which level they played at not how much they were paid or how nice their house was.
