Claudio Ranieri?

Everyone wants a long term appointment that works. In our current situation we'd be better off with a quick fix that keeps us up regardless of how long they stay, then work longer term to identify a long-term successor or establish a setup whereby the manager isn't in charge of everything from top to bottom.

I concur

This is about the 4th time betting has been suspended, I wouldn't read anything into it.

The most worrying thing (if it is Ranieri) is that we didn't sound him out before he had to make it known he was interested. Makes you wonder what the bloody hell is going on.

If I were the type to just waste a few thousand just to troll people, I'd make a big bet on an outsider to screw with the odds some more and make more of a mockey of how the media is only relying on betting odds to make news stories.

Which is credit to what a tight ship LCFC is these days.

I think when there is so little other information it's not that surprising that the media constantly runs stories about the changes in odds. And, of course, eventually one of these price plunges is going to identify the next manager.

Will it? Will it really, you mean this saga actually has an ending....

That's a fair point, and unless there's something truly shady going on behind the scenes, I think it's a good thing that our club is playing its card close to its chest.

Maybe, but there's even a chance that it won't. And we've already seen a few big bets blow up in punters' faces, so the press and everybody else that's using betting odds to name our next manager don't have a good batting average.

The only thing we've learned from betting odds this week is that bookies will profit one way or another. Vegas wasn't built on winners.

Be great if it goes on eternally but, yeah, eventually the bookmakers are going to suspend betting on the right bloke.

The best market ever for these high jinks was the Rep Ireland job which Trappatoni eventually got. There were at least ten managers who were favourites during that saga.

Edit - just checked, that market lasted over 100 days!

Saying that i'd want someone abit more proven than Eddie Howe, if he had a successful PL year under his belt he'd probably be near the top of my list, the fact he hasn't and it's abit of the unknown puts me off him abit but the long term fact is big issue for me.

He's done more than enough to show he's proven to me. When he was at Burnley he signed Charlie Austin, Inges and Trippier, then he left Burnley because it was a dump, went back to Bournemouth and won back to back promotions. After a year in the Premier League there's a good chance the big boys will be after him, so this could be our only change to get him.

Is everyone basing this off a randomer saying "welcome Ranieri winkeyface" or am I missing something here?

Because if so that's even more spurious than the betting markets.

Interesting appointment if true. Exciting times ahead. Maybe.
