Grey Fox Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 I'll always remember when Clive Clarke had his heart attack at Forest - Roy said that the event was good news for him as it detracted from media focus on his teams performance and then went on to say in his biography that he was surprised Clive could have a heart attack as he never played like he had a heart at all. Clive responded post retirement, talking on Keane and his management style saying that as an adult and a professional footballer the half time team talks which involved throwing chairs at dressing room walls and screaming at players wasn't really a style that motivated him. I'd feel sick if he came to the club in any circumstances other than to be placed in some stocks outside the stadium as a deterrent to children from behaving like he has to other human beings. Did he really say that? What an absolute w*nker!
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Understand people want to keep things behind the scenes as unchanged as possible, but... We won't be able to attract a top manager if he can't bring his own people in. Add to that when Pearson gets a new job there's a strong possibility a few will follow him.
Loggy88 Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 I'd rather have O Niell back over Ranieri but at least it looks that Prekki fella won't get it. Think that would of spelt disaster for us.

Agree with this. Disgusting man and someone like him could ruin the team spirit in the dressing room. Was all for MON returning but a choice between MON plus Keane and Ranieri would have to be the later.
inckley fox Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 I'd probably lean towards O'Neill, but on closer analysis there are worse options than Ranieri. I worry a little about the 'best fit' theory of appointing managers - that at certain clubs certain managers tends to do well. In Leicester's case, from Gillies to Pearson, it's been younger 'on the up' managers (though plenty more have gone wrong!) and experience hasn't tended to work out so well (Bassett, Sven). But it would be silly to tar all experienced managers with the same brush, or to say that something different - even if it's similar to the last 'poor appointment' we made - will necessarily not work out. My concern is that he hasn't been in the PL for a long time and that most of his success was in the 90s. But he's very different to Sven - there's a lot more recent success in club management and, of course, he's not a 'name manager' to anything like the same extent. Whereas Sven looked for all the world to be after a last hefty pay cheque, that's not necessarily the case here.
Vlad the Fox Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 I think ranieri would prove to be a great appointment.
Guest LCFC_World Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Got a feeling of an evening announcement later on. The players and staff are going to Austria tomorrow so if no announcement today then you shouldn't expect one for another week!
thursday_next Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 So, in other words, we've approached the only guy in world football that Cambiasso won't sign for. That's a bit bizarre, on the face of it, but I trust the decisions of the owners, whatever they may be.
Suffolk exile Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 But who is more important? ? Cambiasso or (potentially) Ranieri? But you're right - what are the chances? ??

Suffolk exile Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Do you think they get on? Just wondered ...................... Supposedly they had a difference of opinion! Read a few posts back for more.

Carl the Llama Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Why would Ranieri put himself forward for a job knowing it would likely mean losing the best player there? Can't see there being anything in it that can't be/hasn't been resolved by the 2 men.
thursday_next Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Very few of my posts are not absurd. Sorry about that, straight post lovers, but you will have to get used to it....
Shipman Out Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 The guy is no mug, he's managed some of the biggest clubs in Europe. His win percentage for his entire career is near on 46%. He's also one of the most amusing and charming managers about, who compliments and understands the English sense of humour. He will have most fans eating out the palm of his hand by press conference 2. The guys a class act, with it seems something to prove in England. Most of our success stories at Leicester have come from that very scenario.
st albans fox Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Why would Ranieri put himself forward for a job knowing it would likely mean losing the best player there? Can't see there being anything in it that can't be/hasn't been resolved by the 2 men. Because he knows that the team is more important than one individual, especially one who is a free agent. Esteban can probably perform for another year at a high and consistent level. We need to be looking longer term?
Xen Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 But who is more important? ? Cambiasso or (potentially) Ranieri? But you're right - what are the chances? ?? We need a manager. We don't need Cambiasso. For what it's worth, I still think they'll both be here next season. Cambiasso is a part of the club now so - if he signs - he'll be able to influence Ranieri somewhat, particularly with the backing of the other players. Ranieri doesn't strike me as a stubborn manager and I think he'd take on board what the players and backroom staff advise.
FireFox Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Thanks for that. Was my biggest concern regarding Ranieri.

If it means MON and Keane, then they can both fooke right off! If they sacked Nige for being hard to deal with, then they have no chance with that weird bellend! Half times would be entertaining though! The commentary would be something like "Looks like the half time talk with Big Was didn't go too well....Keane's had chair shoved up his arse again"
eblair Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 this would be atrocious, getting a big name for the sake of it... genuinely dreading to watch a team 3 years in the making getting ripped up by the tinkerman
ARM1968 Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 O'Neill without Keane would be a yes from me, otherwise Ranieri would do a good job in my opinion.
My Nads Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 this would be atrocious, getting a big name for the sake of it... genuinely dreading to watch a team 3 years in the making getting ripped up by the tinkerman IF!! We keep all of the back room staff, it might not be as bad as it seems. It looked like we were getting Preki, so compared to that disaster it's might not be too bad. Big names aren't the way to go. It would be nice to have a good solid young manager. I want Eddie Howe, but I think Grayson would be a good appointment too. How Lennon is seen as a better manager than SG is beyond me.
enmac Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 I know it depends on the players available, but generally speaking, what is Ranieri's typical football style? On a scale between Big Sam and Wenger, where would you put him? Sent from my BNTV600 using Tapatalk
