CosbehFox Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Must admit I don't think I can remember a manager getting on a job off the back of his own quotes. Which suggest the club needs a bit of a shuffle at DoF level.

Hes flexible, certainly at Chelsea he enjoyed playing with width and a more patient style of buildup focusing on ball retention. Although he does favour back 4's so that may be an adaptation.

He's tactically very flexible, more so than the ostrich but he's not some lunatic who changes the formation on a whim.
st albans fox Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 It wasn't meant to be serious. Lighten up chaps!
EnglishOxide Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 I get the impression that if we were to win 3-0, the next week he would make 3 or 4 changes to the starting lineup just for the sake of it.

PAULCFC Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 The guy is no mug, he's managed some of the biggest clubs in Europe. His win percentage for his entire career is near on 46%. He's also one of the most amusing and charming managers about, who compliments and understands the English sense of humour. He will have most fans eating out the palm of his hand by press conference 2. The guys a class act, with it seems something to prove in England. Most of our success stories at Leicester have come from that very scenario. That is exactly how i remember him from his stint at Chelsea.....great post.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 His job at Greece worries me, they seem truly dire losing twice to the Faroes
ScouseFox Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 His job at Greece worries me, they seem truly dire losing twice to the Faroes he was only in charge for one, so hopefully they are simply just shite and there's not much any manager can do about it
Donut Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 His job at Greece worries me, they seem truly dire losing twice to the Faroes Squad that needed real revamp that had all grown old and weak as a unit together, and had impending disaster coming to them soon enough, the way they were squeaking through the world cup was terrible. Rainieri has proven himself to be a very astute club manager across Europe.
thursday_next Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Hes flexible, certainly at Chelsea he enjoyed playing with width and a more patient style of buildup focusing on ball retention We don't really do ball retention. Or we do, up to about 4 passes if we're lucky, but by that time we've either started a counter-attack, put the ball out of play or handed possession back to the opposition. He'd have to bring in some midfielders, which seems a shame given that I like our midfielders and all their sometimes startling ball-losing ways, particularly Schlupp. I think it's part of our charm.
katieakita Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 His job at Greece worries me, they seem truly dire losing twice to the Faroes Think he was only in charge the one game and Greece are no great shakes anymore
Guest Col city fan Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Having sacked Nige, do people REALLY want the tinker man to become our next manager? A few weeks ago, if anyone would have suggested we were sacking Pearson to bring in Ranieri I think we'd have all fainted. I'm not dissing him particularly but he's not the bloke I'd have ever clamoured for as the manager of LCFC. To be honest.

I keep saying it, i'm starting to bore myself but i'm uninspired by a huge percentage of the bookies list tbh. I don't know who I want but I know I don't want many of that list.

No. There's precious few if any managers I would have sacked him to bring in. But, he's gone and of the replacements available, there's no-one better than Ranieri willing to come here; it'd have been a daft suggestion 2 weeks ago, but so would sacking Pearson regardless of who the replacement was.
ARM1968 Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Pearson did well for us that much is true. But he was also a fool in some of the things he said and did. Despite that do you think he will EVER manage Chelsea? Or AC Milan perhaps? Or some of the other big teams Ranieri and others have? I very much doubt it. Some of this Oearson rimming has to stop. Yes he was good. Yes he improved us. But he is not the bloody saviour of football. There are better managers, sad but true. Will we attract one? I'm not sure. Im pretty sure Ranieri's successes, experience and win percentage overall make him a better manager than Nigel.

He's the best of a pretty terrible bunch IMO. I suspect the owners REALLY overestimated the clubs appeal when they sacked Pearson.

The best an English manager can do these days is get a club upto mid-table before being binned off for a fancy sounding foreigner.
