Claudio Ranieri?

Can I ask why people are against Ranieri and Hiddink? I'm not really old enough to remember them in the prem but have heard largely posistive things regarding their managerial careers. Just a question as the reaction seems very strong

We don't want a Sven situation to happen again and also they are just too old! You can't build for the future with old managers, so the process changers to buying players in their prime. We aren't really a big enough club to attract top players in their prime, so we would end up with a team of over the hill players and huge wages we can't get ride of just like QPR.

Signing managers that used to be top drawer 10-20 years a go is like signing Ronaldhino because he used to good.

I don't want a 60+ manager who has done it all but has generally failed for the last 5-10 years. I would question their dedication, drive and ambition to throw themselves into the club and do everything possible to succeed. The game may have overtaken them and they're now dinosaurs in today's game.

Playing football is a meritocracy, management probably isn't. There will be potential world class managers out there at some obscure teams who will never get the chance to manage a half decent club.

I don't want us to sign a washed up has been, lets consign these to history or lets some other mugs pick them up.

We should be researching and targeting what we consider to be the best young talented managers in the game and looking at that sort of profile to recruit.

Spot on, Eddie Howe is the best young manager in the game, it doesn't take much research. If we hired him as our next manager I would be so relieved after all of these horror stories, but our board only seem interested in scaring the crap out of us.

Lennon did the job he was brought in to do, saving Bolton from almost certain relegation, despite a long list of injuries.

Nothing guarantees success, with whoever comes in, in much the same way that Pearson, could not be guaranteed to have kept us up next season. There is no crystal ball that we can look into the future with, so we have to make decisions at to whom would be suitable, if willing to come. Whether that be Lennon, or someone else, we shall just have to wait and see.

Nothing appears to be straight forward here at Leicester.

Exactly what I'm saying, anyone who has a long tenure will have some individually brilliant results and some shockers, neither should really be taken into consideration over the job as a whole.

Although I could argue Burton wasn't our first team. Barnsley away for me was still NP'S worst result.

Result and performance. I honestly felt we'd conned a 23rd placed team after they only beat us 2-0. Bad times.

**** me

Get on the phone, get grovelling & get Pearson back

Klopp is obviously pie in the sky

Hiddink wants to retire

And nobody else mentioned is fit to wipe Pearson's arse as they're a bunch of has-beens and never-will-be's

Cannot believe the owners have ****ed up such a great position that Pearson got us in.

14th, with signings arriving of a standard that could see us establishing ourselves in the top 10

N'Golo Kante looking ever more doubtful, most likely thanks to the sacking a manager without having a realistic target to appoint

You didn't want Pearson when he came back. You were wrong then, good chance you're wrong again now tbf.

I don't think you'd get a Svenlike situation again.

Things have moved on within the club since then. Think Walsh/Rudkin have far more 'clout' with regard to signings than we might imagine. The owners certainly took note of some of the failings of SGE, (Ball,Johnson etc), and I doubt they're naive enough to be sucked into anything similar again.

Remember too that we were a 2nd level team at that time. With the right man in charge we CAN attract better players here, without them being in their 'twilight' years.

The one 'Svenlike' thing that we would benefit from by having Ranieri, or particularly Hiddink at the club would be a greater chance of signing ,or loaning in, decent younger talents that those two will have knowledge about !!

I just don't think hiring an old manager like Ranieri or Hiddink that hasn't done anything of note in the past 5+ years is a good move. It's true we are now in a more desirable position playing in the best league in the world, but I don't think an old manager would really sway anyone's decision to come here. If they go for a younger manager, I'll take back everything I have said about them recently as long as it's not Lennon.

The man gets sacked for a living basically. High profile I guess but a desperate man who hasn't done a good job for a long time.

That was a toss result but the 5-1 against Forest in 09/10 was the worst for me. Earnshaw got a ****ing 'trick didn't he?

Sickening, loved that team though.

Touche.

Touche.

I remember that game. Sat in the Forest end.

We started off with the diamond with Kermo at the tip and he was absolutely ****ing useless. Brought Howard on and had to watch an hour of Wayne Brown twatting it long to him and Morgan beating him every time.

Every time Brown got it the Forest fans around me shouted 'HOOF'.

So bloody embarrassing.

Imagine going from Atlético, Chelsea, Juventus, Monaco, etc. to basically begging Leicester to phone you up

Looks like he's been at some decent clubs. If he was useless at the first couple the rest would not have considered him.

Is this still speculation though? No firm confirmation of who its gonna be. I'll wait for the official announcement.

Years ago he was a very good manager, respected, tactically sound and enjoyed moderate success.

Now's he another on the seniors tour, as someone above said he makes a living getting the sack and somehow getting new jobs off the back of his name.

Maybe so. I;d like a manager thats been at one club for a few years and done reasonably well but there are not many of them about. The game is a manager merry-go-round.

I'm beginning to think it wasn't planned. Peason gave a sack me or back me ultimatum and the owners called his bluff.

He only left Monaco in 2014 after leading them to second in ligue one behind psg didn't he?

Comme entraineur, son histoire romaine s'est mal finie aussi.

maybe more than most he is looking to change this and end on a high outside Italy - I think he is starting to become my favorite realistic option

Completely irrelevant apparently. Because he spent big money on radamel falcao, James Rodriguez, and moutinho.

Honestly I'm at the point where, with the other obvious available targets, I think we should just take a punt on Claudio and hope for the best.  We already have a good squad for him to work with which doesn't need a huge amount added to it, and I'm sure Walsh and Shakey have a nice list of potential additions to look at ready for him, so the bulk of the work will have been done already.

This makes it easier to be optimistic about him.

Out of all the managers we've been linked with I'm least unenthusiastic about this.
