Claudio Ranieri?

He's used to managing big players in big games for big clubs at the top end of tables.

Maybe he could take us to the top 8 or dare i say it top 6 - thats where the owners want to go.

His English was fine by the time he left England:

he talks well and intelligently - I think he would be a good fit for us right now. I like the way he talks about building a team over time with youth and experience and his calmness and acceptance that the job is only as long as it is -

I think he would deal brilliantly with the stress of the premier league and also like the fact he has issued a come and get me!

I'd be equally if not happier with Ranieri than O'Neill - probably happier if I'm honest, happier still if we retained shakey and Walsh. He has a great CV and a great win ratio

not been about today so this may have been posted but there are some suggestions that O'Neill would want to bring Keane to the club.only rumours so possibly untrue. Part of me is hoping this may not sit well with Rudkin and his intention is to do all he can to keep shakey and Walsh. Maybe they are lining up Ranieri as an alternative with a view to interviewing both and seeing how keen they are to work on our terms.

who knows but I really hope the club go out on a limb to change as little as poss behind the scenes and keep as much of the existing coaching and recruitment team together.

The only issue is that he won't be the 'long term solution', due to age - like someone said days ago, he'll be here for a final large lump sum.

If we had someone younger like Di Matteo (who has moreorless the same managerial experience level), then I wouldn't opt to have him.

Still can't find or been shown where MON has said he wants the job, let alone that he wants to bring Keane.

He's not going to come out and say it directly is he? That's just not the mon way....

I get, it, but people making statements that he has and he wants to bring Keane, is just Bull.  Why do people say something that hasn't been said.

I'll always remember when Clive Clarke had his heart attack at Forest - Roy said that the event was good news for him as it detracted from media focus on his teams performance and then went on to say in his biography that he was surprised Clive could have a heart attack as he never played like he had a heart at all.

Clive responded post retirement, talking on Keane and his management style saying that as an adult and a professional footballer the half time team talks which involved throwing chairs at dressing room walls and screaming at players wasn't really a style that motivated him.

I'd feel sick if he came to the club in any circumstances other than to be placed in some stocks outside the stadium as a deterrent to children from behaving like he has to other human beings.

I'm warming to Ranieri, it could be because I've always felt sorry for him after the way he was treated at Chelsea before they got rid. The fact that's he signed the likes of Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Petr Cech, nurtured John Terry, and Gianfranco Zola (at Napoli), and there's probably a few more you can add to that list, that impressed me a lot. He also seems like a very intelligent person.

The only thing I don't like and I'm worried about is the 'Tinkering'. Nigel Pearson tried it last year to match the opposition and it resulted in that terrible winless run. It cost Ranieri some success in the CL during his time at Chelsea, so maybe he has learned from that experience, and even though his nickname stands, I'm hoping his style and method has evolved with football itself.

im pretty sure Ranieri and Cambiasso have worked together previously which may be a positive

They did and there is some confusion about how well they got on. His reign (rainieri) at inter was not the best period for the club and this was the time when the fans got on esteban's back. I think it ended up with rainieri substituting him early on in a match and EC crying on the bench. It could be that Esteban does not rate rainieri? it could be that he respects him. Guess if rainieri gets the job and EC doesn't re sign we will know!

Fergie nurtured and created him. That type of player is now defunct,  and there's no need for that type of character in management.

I'd like to think it strange that both of them could work together in the Irish set-up, nevermind here. If MON comes without I'd probably more comfortable of a harmonious dressing room transition and future.

I think that was Esteban having a shocker and got substituted in the second half, and he got some jeering and abuse from the Inter fans, which reduced him to tears. Probably never experienced something like that and I don't think he ever will again, coupled with the fact that Inter is his club, must've been a difficult moment for him to deal with.

I think if EC had a shocker he will know that is why he was subbed and will be more upset with himself than the manager. A lot wiser now than if it happened to a youth player.

The feeling I got wading through the various articles was that they didn't seem to be best buddy's. rainieri played EC too much and then allowed him to be the scapegoat when it was really going badly.

Last season, he missed pre season and Nigel gave him a couple of 'injury breaks', one of which seemed to co incide with the mid season break that he would be used to.
