BigMicky Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Where do I start when it comes to top managers like wenger, Ferguson , Mourinho making bad and even terrible signings There won't be the same number over a 4 year period. Go for it though. A better question would be how many poor players did Pearson sign for us?
Bagworthblue Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Yeah possibly, but that wouldn't constitute a formal intervi Nah just a tap up - to be fair, he will interview us as much as we do him
BigMicky Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Yeah there's some turkey's in there, no doubt. The dream would be keeping Walsh here and letting him having influence over signings. John Robertson has been a big miss for MON in the last few years, hopefully Shakey/Walsh could fill the void but all ifs and buts at the moment, obviously! 100% agree, that's the dream ticket for me.
Jacnah Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 People need to start trying to unite over one candidate. Think we got ahead of ourselves with Klopp and delusions of grandeur so now its back to the real world. Some people on here slating o'neill yet calling for Lennon, its a bit embarassing being as Lennon has done **** all, like absolutely **** all yet Oneill is a real club legend and has since had success guiding villa to 3 top 6 finishes. This is about the survival of Leicester city in the prem and pushing on a bit and its obvious O'Neill can achieve that. Frankly I don't give a **** about the legacy and whether it gets ruined or not, that's just about the man and the past. really we need to be thinking of the now and of the club because thats what's important, not whether o'Neill might spoil his legacy or not. and its obvious O'Neill can achieve that No its not...not at all. actually if you look at the evidence there is every indication he will struggle...and this from somebody that had the pleasure of watching his team grow and give us some of the best times in a long long time and, liked many others, wont hear a bad word against him Frankly I don't give a **** about the legacy i do...big time!! if i thought he could do a job for us i would be all over this, but that time is the past we need to be thinking of the now and of the club spot on. 100% agree. that's why we cant go back to the past just my view...maybe your right and im wrong...who knows

Mayofox Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 As an Irishman and Foxes fan I can attest to the fact that he has been terrible as Ireland manager. I lived in Leicester when he was there and that passion on the sideline in his tracksuit has been tacken over by a reserved middle aged man in a strangling suit. He's not how we remember him in those cup finals. The passion is gone. Let's go for someone fresh. How about Gary Monk???? As a Leicester exile, living in Ireland, if you don't want him, we'll have him back. "Go raibh maith agat", as they say down Filbert Way.
Hack Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 It's not that we're better, it's about wanting to take it to the next step. MON is merely to consolidate our position, meaning Pearson's departure was pointless. It clearly wasn't pointless as something happened where to board felt he had to go, so no not pointless. Just because you weren't involved in the decision making does not mean it pointless. Get a grip on your level of importance.
Hack Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 I think some people are confusing negativity v realism. Nobody is doubting Martin O'Neill is a legend here - every Leicester City fan will love him - but you have to consider several things here. There's no point in hiring him just because "he's a legend". Do you really think if he were to be hired that that is why he would be hired, not for his current ability to manage? Yes he comes with a ready made goodwill which is a huge bonus, but he will be judged by all for his skill as a current day manager. Again I ask, if we were to announce Arsene Wenger as our new manager who is 65, what would you say to that?
Leicester_Numan Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 True to an extent but times change. They havn't won anything since 1987 (apart from the Intertoto). Any delusions of grandeur should have vanished within the last 27 years. I must have imagined them winning the league cup under Brian Little then
Hack Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 So we haven't even approached him, he might turn round and say no thanks again Does the paper really know? Really.
The Doctor Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Do you really think if he were to be hired that that is why he would be hired, not for his current ability to manage? Yes he comes with a ready made goodwill which is a huge bonus, but he will be judged by all for his skill as a current day manager. Again I ask, if we were to announce Arsene Wenger as our new manager who is 65, what would you say to that? The two aren't comparable, wenger is one of the top managers and still going at the top level, O'Neill has some big question marks hanging about whether he's adapted to modern football, whether he's still got the passion and whether he's still as good as he used to be without Robertson.
Happy Fox Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/next-leicester-manager-martin-oneill-6045049 Martin O'Neill is wanted by Leicester for a sensational return as manager – but the Foxes face a fight to lure him away from the FAI. Leicester are yet to make an official approach for the Republic of Ireland boss, but the Thai-owned club hope to finalise Nigel Pearson’s successor as soon as possible. And they are keen to speak to O’Neill, 63, about a return to the club where he excelled in charge from 1995-2000, twice winning the League Cup and steering the club to promotion from the Championship via the playoffs. The Irish are confident of keeping O’Neill, despite their fading Euro 2016 qualification hopes. He has rejected previous chances to return to Leicester. Only this time, O’Neill will know it is realistically his last opportunity to manage in the Premier League again – and earn £2million a year.
Hack Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 MON I think is desperate to find another club in order he can leave as manager of Ireland, I just don't think his heart and soul is in that job. He's a much better club manager, for me coming back wouldn't be a backward step. He's a good manager and I think he can build on his previous success, however will he want to come back here!? I believe he was the first choice last time but he turned us down and so instead they went for Nigel. So would they try again this time? If he did turn us down last time, you don't think us being in the championship would've had something to do with it? Martin would have seen himself as a PL manager and wanted a job in the top league. How is that not understandable.

dedlock Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 It was only a matter of time before speculation turned to the 'second coming' Has MON still got it? Who knows? I am sure Top doesn't.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 O'Neill is the 2016 Nige Far superior version in every way ... just as Nige will be
Bagworthblue Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 It was only a matter of time before speculation turned to the 'second coming' Has MON still got it? Who knows? I am sure Top doesn't. good job it's in the hands of Ruddykins then Far superior version in every way ... just as Nige will be this is getting confusing now
Nickfosse Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 There's no way he's been interviewed yet. Would be an illegal approach.Interestingly the independent says that John Rudkin and MON are close friends.Perfectly possible for friends to have a hypothetical conversation.
Deucalion Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 It amazes me the high regard people hold Pearson in, especially when I suspect most of his biggest fans now were probably howling for his head about 6 months ago. Pearson came good in the end. That good run last season does not mean we were nailed on to continue like that this season. For me, all emotion aside, MON is a safer bet than Pearson. He has many years experience and has proven to be able to improve a club he is managing. The irrational sentiment is not with the people who want MON back, but with people over-estimating what Pearson actually proved last season.
RedSoxUK Posted 10 July 2015 Posted 10 July 2015 Interestingly the independent says that John Rudkin and MON are close friends. Perfectly possible for friends to have a hypothetical conversation. Mentioned this earlier. Rudkin was pretty small time and was promoted up a few times under O'Neil as far as i'm aware. Think there's more into the Rudkin/O'Neil link than what's expected. Been at Leicester as a coach/management position since 98, giving him experience with O'Neil, sure he was a youth coach, but that's a connection.

Owners have lost a lot of support sacking Pearson so appointing O'Neill would win that support back.
