Rich Fox Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 Just hope Walsh stays, don't know what chance is of that ? Think Shaky will go with Pearson
Foxhateram Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 This is the only appointment I will accept, still don't agree with Nigel's sacking but if the messiah came home I could be convinced to forgive and forget.
NewquayFox Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 O Neill will come in and unearth some footballing gems just like Elliot, Izzett, Lennon & Claridge or do we already possess them..... Up the City.......
Burmesefox Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 Be very happy with MON but who would be his training ground coach Preki? Lennon?
AyewJoking Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 bet the clueless thais didnt even know shakespeare and walsh would likely leave when pearson gets another club. unless they paid nigel to stay out of football for 1 year after sacking him.........................
EnglishOxide Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 It's because most people have been expecting Klopp on here so anybody would feel like a letdown compared to him Its because most people believed we were on the verge of something special with Pearson at the helm. Therefore we expected someone special, or at the very least progressive to be appointed. Appointing MON would feel like a step back in time, and if he doesn't improve on 14th, a waste of time.

Why are the Thai's clueless? Of course they knew. Management teams tend to come in a bundle and when you appoint a new manager he normally brings in a new team. The Thais have advice from Whelan and others on the board. they are not in this alone. i suspect, anyway, that the FAI might like the idea of getting MON off the wage bill and having Keane run the show. As LCFC owners I wouldn't really want MON buggering off on international duties.

Yes totally clueless when about 99% on here were screaming for them to sack Pearson they ignored FT. They also ignored FT when we lost to Watford in the play offs and they failed to sell Vardy when people wanted him gone. Pearson was the 2nd longest serving manager in the EPL after Wenger so they have showed a lot more faith than the majority of club owners. We just do not know what really went on, maybe just maybe a little bald maestro Shaky and Walsh snr had a lot more to do with us staying up than the figurehead.
st albans fox Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 I fear our run in last season has distorted a sense of reality amongst many of you. Check out the relegation odds for this season. We are (and were with Nigel) expected to be in and amongst it. The idea that we would just coast to mid table security is surely without foundation? it will again be a very tough campaign.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 Martin O'Neill return to Leicester City would be popular choice among fans, says Matt Elliott Read more: http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Martin-O-Neill-return-Leicester-City-popular/story-26878253-detail/story.html#ixzz3fYVXdJlQ Follow us: @Leicester_Merc on Twitter | leicestermercury on Facebook very popular IMO
Rincewind Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 Right, so (assuming they don't make the Finals) we're only talking a handful more Ireland games. Seems feasible that all parties would agree to that. Would there be PL games on those weeks? He could be get informed about the players and would see the squad in the week leading up to the game.

Pearson has only ever taken us up, its not outrageous for us to think therefore that we would have finished 14th or higher next season. His achievements rightly raised the bar for expectation.

Not really about that for me the main thing that was good about pearson was we played really good football last year even when we were doing bad. Our Pace and directness was a shock for most teams including the top ones. I can't really see us beating Utd 5-3 again no matter who we appoint
dylanlegend Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 That said ill welcome o'nrill more than any other out there
Vlad the Fox Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 If this happens I really hope it is with Shakey and Walsh and the infrastructure that support the footballing side of club remain in place, we've, through Pearson, have built an ethos on the running of the club which all prospective managers should come and fit into which will hopefully help secure the club in the premier for years to come. While Shakespeare and Walsh may move on when Pearson finds another club I don't think it's a foregone conclusion. Despite the regular hysterical and irrational bouts of headless panic that frequents this forum we are a well run premier league club operating nothing like the swirl of fan created bullshit that somehow becomes fact due to the Internet. Shakey and Walsh are on prem contracts challenging themselves against footballs elite, if the owners wish to keep them on they may well decide to stay rather than drop to the championship as I can't see Pearson getting a perm job until the firefighting season begins.
wurmer Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 MON was amazing for us, and still has semi-god status as far as I'm concerned. But, for this club now, with the ambitions of the owners, this feels like a backwards step. We should be looking to build on a young management team, someone to build a dynasty with. Pearson, despite his irritating unprofessional arrogant non-footballing issues, looked like he was the one. Sacking him is beginning to look even more ridiculous now that we are 2 weeks in, and the only 'definitive' we're hearing is that we are going to approach the FAI. They should have had someone lined up before cutting loose. If fear that the ability of the owners doesn't appear to match their ambition, and will end in tears. Ours. I hope I'm wrong
Clever Fox Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 The Republic of Ireland are about 50 Million in Debt due to their new Stadium. I'm sure they would be happy to save a Million or two on his contract over the next 12 Months. Their virtually out of the Euros unless they have a spectacular finish against Germany and Poland.

I believe that most of his salary is being paid by an individual rather than the FAI. I think it would be odd for him to leave before they cannot quality. Doesn't seem to be his style and we cannot wait.

Fortunately, our most direct/aggressive period co incided with the run in when it was likely to offer the best reward.
Mr Fox Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 Yes it would be good for MON to return as manager, compared to the names mentioned earlier in the week. But I wish people would realise that Shakey and Walshey are only keeping the seat warm until MON or whoever comes in as manager. Managers work in teams (trust, habits etc.) and when NP gets another job. Shakey and Walshey will join him.If MON gets the job then Walford,Guppy and Parker will follow.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 If this is the best way to keep the majority of fans on board and retain our style of play then it sounds like the best option. It seems a bit of a shame for there to be such an underwhelming feeling about a genuine club legend returning though. Just goes to show how even one (two?) dodgy spell(s) can transform how a manager is viewed.
superfox1980 Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 I can't understand the negativity towards MON on here. Growing up in the 90's as a city supporter was some of the best times as a fan of our amazing club. I can only think that a lot of the negative comments come from those who missed those days due to their age. This man lives and breaths football, his man management skills are second to none along with his knowledge of the game. He is the best fit out of all the 'candidates' bar Klopp, he is the best choice for a number of reasons. He will galvanize our club following the NP's departure - We all need that to happen! The players will respect him instantly. The squad is a good fit for him. His record with us, Celtic and Villa shows what he's all about. He knows the league. I don't think he's lost his way at all as some suggest, Sunderland wasn't his best time but then who would get enthused about managing them anyway?! Personally if this does happen, I'll be pleased. Come home Martin !!
Finn Claw II Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 I don't think he has a backup team? Robertson has retired so maybe he will have to work with the current setup? MON would be a great transition to Cambiasso as future manager
