Where will the Blue Army finish in the 2015/2016 season?

2 really good CM's and we'll finish in mid table mediocrity. If not then terrible struggle and relegation battle royal again. I'll take boring obscurity.

"It's not the despair, it's the hope that kills you" - in terminal decline last decade was shite, but we didn't really have any expectations or hope to hold to start each season. We finished last season excellently and I think we were all looking forward to the start of a new golden age this season. Over the past 3 1/2 weeks though it's seemed like the core has rotted - we've lost one of our best ever managers and a player who was a cut above all those around us, let alone the rest of the squad. With our board having a shocking record at appointing successful managers, and no sign of anyone coming in to fill the massive set of empty boots in the middle, I don't see how anyone cannot be more pessimistic than we were in May.

19th if we don't get a couple of centre mids in sharpish - drinkwater, king, Hammond is not good enough to get us through to January.

A shocking record at appointing successful managers? You just said Pearson was one of our best ever!

Do you really think we won't buy another centre mid?

And he's the exception, the current board cocked up with forcing him out and then appointing Sousa and Sven, not to mention that bringing back Pearson wasn't their first choice. Go beyond it and we hit far, far more duds than good managers.

That's not the question, the question is will we sign any good centre mids within the next fortnight? If we're still pissing about after kante then the obvious answer is no.

Thanks - you've written exactly what I was about to.

It's all to do with expectations. When we were struggling in the Championship and eventually getting relegated, we'd all come to expect that. I wasn't hoping for much more than mid table in the Championship back then.

Whereas now, I've gone from looking forward to attacking the top half of the Premiership, to dreading relegation and getting stuck in the Football League again, over just a couple of weeks.

We must clearly get a couple of quality midfielders in, easier said than done.If we do then at least if CR screws up there is a squad capable of at least survival under a new manager if the owners don't leave it to late.

Who knows CR may be seen as a wily old fox come the end of the season!

It all depends on whether Claudio is given adequate time, especially if we have a crap opening.

It really depends on whether he is up to the job.

Our midfield is pretty poor at the moment and the loss of Cambiasso leaves a big whole to fill. Without any signings we're going to struggle. All depends on who we bring in.

The bookies don't really think much has changed as our odds of going down are pretty much what they were 2 weeks ago.

They could finish anywhere between 11th and 20th and it would hardly come as a surprise. The head says closer to 20th, the heart says closer to 11th. If it's 17th I'll be very happy with Ranieri, though not necessarily so pleased with the board.

That may be so, but I still think we've lost the two most influential people at the club from last season, and I believe it will take something really special to stop us feeling the effects of that. I think we really needed either a talented man-manager to get the best out of the squad we have, or several new players who are a lot better than what we have. I'm pretty sure man-mangement is not Ranieri's strength, and I doubt we're going to get the amount of quality added to the squad that we need to make up for that.

We've got a squad that's a year older, wiser and PL experienced.

We've added 3 quality signings - and maybe more to come.

Cram is also like a new signing and he's raring to go - expect big things from him.

We've got a vastly experienced Manager who's comfortable and used to being in the top half of the table.

We've got owners who will spend in Jan if we don't get off to a good start.

We've sold our ST allocation and will sell out most games with an atmosphere most clubs envy.

We won 7 out of our last 9 games - the players know they can compete at this level.

We shouldn't be scared of anyone. We never lost by more than 2 goals.

We'll finish 8th

Great post but the key thing missed is we have lost Cambiasso who was a huge part of our success. IF we replace him with a half decent player then I will be very optimistic for all the reasons stated

For all the "Doom & Gloom" people out there, there will be additions to this team before the start of the season. We have a very solid looking team that requires additions  at midfield  & maybe one more D. It's going to happen !! We won't challenge for top six but we will avoid the relegation race. Have faith.

12-14th. Top class buys, not much difference 10-14th.

One other thing....Claudio was given the name Tinkerman, I say to you all, lets hope he carries on..

Many of you, and side kick media types have conned yourselves by being suckered into being brain-washed.

Every single top title chasing clubs and their managers, not only in the PL but Europe wide, use their squads, and not just because of injuries, have changed their teams on regular basis.

Maybe Arsenal was the last team that with Adams and co kept the same team over weeks, I am not sure but didnt they go 3/4 of a season only using 13 players.

Just look over the last 5 years of all title winners throughout europe. Some often changing tactics, within the same competition.

Surely its a top manager, that sees the different strengths and uses those skill for the seasons various challanges.

Tinkerman...just BS from then a disgruntled journalist, because his best mate wasnt being picked, and the rest of the media and many fans bought it.!!! I bloody well hope we do tinker, if you dont agree then go out and support ........

No more tactical substitutions, and the same fit players should be chosen every week, through the whole season.

Yes, the top teams do Tinker. That's because they are in Europe and having to juggle that with training, jet lag, league games and cup games.

If Mahrez scores 2 in 2 to start the season and he gets dropped, or thrown in at wing back for the next game, you are telling me you would be happy with that? It breeds inconsistency. Its probably part of the reason Ranieri can't get consistent results in his previous jobs (im happy to be corrected if he has not operated in this manner since Chelsea).

What was great about our championship season is that we knew how Vardy, Nuge, Knocky, Dyer, Drinkwater and James would line up. The opposition knew too but they could do nothing about it week in week out.

The same is true of the end of last season. Schluup, Albrighton, Cambiasso, Vardy, Ulloa, Nuge, James. Settled lineup. Consistent results.

When you've got a settled lineup and tactic that works for you there's no need to go around over complicating it IMO. Of course the opposition end up sussing you out, but that is why you make one, maybe 2 changes a week and only small tweaks tactically.

It's a little early to say until we know who else is coming into the squad. I feel we may sign one or two more along with one or two loans. Why is it taking so long to get an answer from Chelsea to loan their two players.  A simple yes or know by know is not unreasonable. Or are they negotiating terms.
