weller54 Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 We look SO much better prepared to take on the PL than this time last season.... How satisfied are you with the strength of our squad?
DangerFox Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 You have to take into account things like managers etc. aswell and whose players they really are. That said, we are looking better on paper, one more midfielder for me required.,somebody creative
Weller in Tights Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 I think on paper we look good. As said, depends if Ranieri can get it all to gel. I certainly hope so. As always, like with all teams, a good start would help, let's back them on Saturday to beat the Mackems.

Also the players that got us promoted from the Championship have that invaluable experience of last season under their belts.. Think that will make a huge difference!!
SomalianFox15 Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Much better squad now than last year's with a lot more experience. I think another midfielder is needed and possibly a winger but I think we will be able to win at the weekend with what we've already got.
Raw Dykes Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Squad better. First team is weaker Not for the first match of the season, though. EC hadn't signed, and I think we had GTF and Hopper on the bench we were that stretched.
Westerby Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Surely in the case of GTF it was the bench that was stretched!
Stevosevic Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 From memory we lined up with: Kasper RDL Moore Morgan Konchesky Knockaert King Drinkwater/Hammond (early sub) Mahrez Nugent Ulloa 5/6 are now deemed not good enough to start for us on Saturday (RDL, Moore, Konch, Knockaert, Nugent and in some eyes Ulloa) We've definitely improved.
Wymsey Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 I do think goalkeeping (2nd choice) needs sorting, with Schwarzer 40-odd and Hamer set to leave.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Stretchmarks Yeah we had no EC this time last season. Huth is a massive plus, Kram (can imagine he'll be lethal on his day after a pre-season with the squad), Okazaki, Kante, Benny, Fuchs... got a feeling I'm forgetting someone. We're only really down James from this time last year (+ Knocky, but wasn't given much time to prove himself at this level) so I'd say we're definitely stronger Think our defence, goalkeeping and attacking options are great. Just need another midfielder or two, even just as cover if not to improve on what we have, depending on who we can actually get
Tuna Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Do you wanna see something really scary? Our bench from the Everton game last season: 07 Hammond 12 Hamer 15 Schlupp 20 Hopper 22 Taylor-Fletcher 27 Wasilewski 39 Wood
IsItMuzzy Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 Do you wanna see something really scary? Our bench from the Everton game last season: 07 Hammond 12 Hamer 15 Schlupp 20 Hopper 22 Taylor-Fletcher 27 Wasilewski 39 Wood That makes me feel so much more confident for this season
katieakita Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 A lot stronger with much more know how. Mahrez,Vardy & Schlupp found their feet after not that good a start. Experience has been added with Huth and Albrighton has overcome whatever issues he had when he joined. we only just managed to find a formula to keep us up. We didn't have Cambiasso this time last year which people seem to forget as is the fact it is a team game played by 11. The overall squad is much stronger and we have more options, believe Kante will be a big + for us and it is clear we still aim to strengthen the squad. Football has moved on and you no longer play the same 11 week in week out unless your Burnley or really top class so we have far more options open to us to play the team best suited to beat our opponents.
Aus Fox Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Squad better. First team is weaker First team weaker? Huth better than Moore Fuchs better than Konchesky Schluup, Vardy, Morgan etc all with a years prem experience under their belt. We've lost one player, two if you count the James injury. Cambiasso replaced with N'golo remains to be seen how well this turns out. Maybe a midfielder shirt but overal I would take our x1 tomoroow over the one this time last year
cc_star Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Much more satisfied with the squad, the addition of Huth, Fuchs & Okazaki made us stronger & we had to sign a midfielder of course & Kante's stats indicate he'll be at least as good as Cambiasso & hopefully a whole lot better at covering the defence, something we lacked throughout our time at the bottom The only unknown is the manager really, will our continual improvement errm continue or will something be not quite right & the wheels fall off
cc_star Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Do you wanna see something really scary? Our bench from the Everton game last season: 07 Hammond 12 Hamer 15 Schlupp 20 Hopper 22 Taylor-Fletcher 27 Wasilewski 39 Wood Deary me Although having Schwarzer on the bench trumps some of that lot IMO Although, thank god we did have Hamer, Hammond, Schlupp & Was... and of course, for that game at least Wood
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 The squad is better. Not really due to new signings (we've yet to see how they perform) but because the existing lot have a years Prem experience under their belt. That's invaluable IMO.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 The squad appears far more stronger than last year, so I am optimistic. We probably need another midfielder, and sort out the goal keeping situation. If Hamer leaves, we need to replace him asap.
FoxinNotts Posted 1 September 2015 Posted 1 September 2015 A well balanced squad now, as depicted below, putting the players in their positions based on a 4-4-2: --------------------------Schmeichel.------------------------- ---------------------------Schwarzer.-------------------------- ----------------------------Maddison-------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- ----De Laet. Waswilewski. Huth. Fuchs.----- ----Simpson Benalouane. Morgan. Schlupp.---- ----------------------------------------------------------------- ---Albrighton Kanté Inler. Mahrez.---- ------Dyer James Drinkwater Dodoo----- -------------------Hammond King.-------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------Kramarić. Vardy.-------------------- ---------------------Ulloa Okazaki.-------------------
Guest Col city fan Posted 1 September 2015 Posted 1 September 2015 Our squad vis a vis the squad this time last season is vastly superior IMO. However, it ain't all about that. Now it's time to make them all gel, get the strongest team and see what we can really do. And many other squads have strengthened too. Overall, I'm much more optimistic this time round than I was last season.

brookfox Posted 2 September 2015 Posted 2 September 2015 Looks like we've significantly upgraded both the squad and first team, albeit on paper at this stage: Benaloune > Upson Inler > Hammond Okazaki > Nugent > Wood Dyer > Knockaert Kante < Cambiasso (sorry!) Fuchs > Konchesky Huth = Huth So that's an upgrade on several players plus a years Prem experience under the belts for the likes of King, Vardy, Morgan, Mahrez. All up to Ranieri and the coaches now about how well he can forge a formation and team out of them all!

Very happy with the business done. Not a transfer but you could even add Dodoo > Hopper/GTF to that list too. Now we just need to ensure they gel as well as the squad last year and keep the same fighting spirit (#Fearless and all that.) that we have become associated with in recent weeks. That is just as important as adding quality. Ranieri's continuity of the high pressing and pacey style game, recent comebacks against Spurs and Bournemouth and the core of the dressing room being retained and played is a good early sign of this being achieved.
Babylon Posted 2 September 2015 Posted 2 September 2015 The B team could currently give the championship a decent shot!! Team B Schwarzer Simpson Was Benalouanne Fuchs Dodoo King Drinkwater Dyer Ulloa Kramaric Team A Kasper De Laet Wes Huth Schlupp Albrighton Inler Kante Mahrez Vardy Okazaki Subs: Hamer, James, Hammond, Lawrence, Moore
