Leicester City Vs Sunderland Post Match Thread 4 - 2

I must admit I was a little worried when Kingy missed that open goal.

Agreed. I don't think he played poorly today, but he (and really any player) has got to put that one in. He didn't even get a foot on it.

If you'd said a couple or so years ago that come early August 2015 England would regain the ashes with a game to spare and by getting the Aussies out for 60 and Leicester City would be top of the Prem you would have probably got locked up - wish i'd had a bet though

Outstanding simply unplayable at times ok they were shit bit we looked very good

Though the defence looked a little suspect at times but here's to the three points and on to the next one

Think Okazaki was our best player on the pitch today - man of the match.

Sure, great performances from Mahrez and Albrighton getting the figures and Mahrez did, did look at his utmost.

I'd love to see a video of just Okazaki's game, by far the best performance i've seen from a City player in years, would have been fantastic if he scored.

Got it live on Rumianian TV in Greece. We were unbeatable 1st half bit concerned with the two goals conceded but CR will work on that. Shinji worked his socks off and Mahrez was a 40 million pound performance. Would like to see Waz back in as dont think we would have conceded two with him there.

Surprised CR went 4 at the back

Two in the middle is fine when we have the ball but against better opposition, we will be found wanting defensively.

I suspect Sunderland expected us to line up with a back 3 and that scuppered any plan they had.

Will be interesting to see what he does away next week. Think vardy up on his own with Kante I/o shinji. ?

He may go 3-5-2 away from home ??

Kasper was a bit shit and defence was a little all over the place, but I think the latter has to do with us just settling down too much. Fantastic way to start the season, delighted

Start of season nerves I think, but made some clinical saves in the first half. Made some poo clearances and passes mind you, he has record of that.

Second half his positioning / command of area was back to the quality of 1st half of last season - sub par, shame, but the defenders made some cockups too.

Same formation, same team I imagine. I did think Morgan was a little off the pace today, and made his usual mistakes.

He mentioned one of their songs (I can't remember which, I didn't quite hear properly) in the context of it being important to the club and they asked whether he was a fan. He said he wasn't really but he knew them and thought their music was 'good rock'  :D

(I didn't even hear the goal music through the stream today, often I do.)

Kasper made a class save in the first few minutes. Without him we could've been 2 down in the first 5mins.

fantastic game but remember Sunderland are same team as last year near enough.

Hoping cloudy is as astute as he seems.

When Vardy scored you could literally sense a tidal wave of relief.

So many knives are at the ready to stick into Ranieri for some reason.

Great start.

Yeah and we didnt even score against them last year!

We've improved, they haven't.

You're confident after one game that we have the right manager to take us to the next level?

Yet being proved wrong regarding Pearson countless times over the last few years did nothing for you? You're a strange one.

Not really strange, I just feel far more comfortable after that performance, with people claiming it was our best showing for many a year.

I have always rated Ranieri, who wont make an idiot of himself in public, as did Pearson.

If you choose to think of me as being "strange", then that is fine by me.

Enjoy your season.

Thought the first half was excellent. They looked more comfortable on the ball with the same danger going forward - and were actually effective in the taking of chances.

Second half was a bit of a disappointment. How on earth we scored less than them in the second half I will never know. Poor goals to concede, soft.

Thought Mahrez was outrageously good, if not a little greedy in the second half. Drinkwater & Okazaki had great games too.

From BBC sport site.

The stats you need to know

Since the start of April, Leicester have won more points than any other Premier League side (25).

The Foxes have won six and lost just one of their last seven league games at the King Power Stadium.

Totally flattering scoreline for Sunderland as others have said.

Great team performances and some of the individuals were outstanding.

Drinkwater and Albrighton were very good. Vardy and Okazaki were unplayable and Mahrez looked every inch a £20 million player.

Room for improvement at the back and in terms of taking chances but very encouraging.
