RedSoxUK Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Not sure 2 CBs are our best lineup but how can anyone complain for today. Albrighton was out of this world. Mahrez was a magician, Okazaki and Vardy were terrors, Drinky was better than Cambi in any game last year, Kasper kept us in at the beginning, Also liked the look of Fuchs when he came in and the intelligence of Kanté even the guy whose name I can't explain came in and bolstered the defence in height nicely. Hmm, opinions, I'm not having that, Drinkwater played well, close to his form in the season we got promoted and made some key key passes today, very forward thinking from him which I love to say about DD because he seemed to play a little negative last season, but he did make mistakes. He wasn't tight enough to the Sunderland midfielder's fat too often - allowed the space for their 1st goal or 2nd iirc, and let Johnson get by way too easy today, Sunderland's first chances were down to Drinky not sticking with/ being tight to Johnson. But yeah, in attack Drinkwater was very very solid, good game and hope he keeps his place next week.
fazzyfox Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Our rivals Chelsea are kicking off, have become a Swansea fan for 90 minutes in de valleys boyo etc
FireFox Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Ranieri interview on the BBC mentioning Kasabian... What did he say!? I'm wearing my Kasabian tee today, haha, it's been good luck whenever I wear it on match days.
Ross-Kemp Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Great game. Vardy & Okazaki up front were immense, they were everywhere. Mahrez & Albrighton were unplayable. I questioned the decision to go 442 with these pair on the wings (I prefer Mahrez in the middle), but I was wrong. 2nd half we took the foot off the gas a little and showed signs of fatigue / tiredness (which I ain't surprised about given how much we ran and ran in the first half). Morgan was a rock for the first half, he won everything, really impressed today. Let's be honest though, the score flattered Sunderland, Vardy's 2 x 1-1, Mahrez hitting the post, King missing the sitter, it's no exaggeration to say we could easily have had 8/9. Good start, let's keep it up.
shen Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 We were scintillating between the 15th and 60th minute. Okazaki and Vardy defending from the front made it look easy for their teammates to win the ball back and set up counters. We're still very suspect in defense with 4 at the back, where two players are more renowned for their attacking skills and one is still to convince that he is good enough in a central pairing in the Prem. That, along with our profligate finishing in the second half nearly cost us dearly. Where is the reliable finisher King? We know Vardy and Mahrez usually spurn a handful of chances for each goal they score and based on this performance, Okazaki is no better. In games where we will produce few chances, we need some better finishers. But, here I am picking out the few flaws on display today when we created chance upon chance upon chance with some fantastic pressing and great skill. I am very much looking forward to the rest of the season!
22BLUE Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Shinji was incredible today, gutted he didn't bag. Definitely deserved it. I thought we played a 3-5-2 until 3-0?
Lucsar Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Great game guys. This Okazaki guy its a great player.
RedSoxUK Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Shinji was incredible today, gutted he didn't bag. Definitely deserved it. I thought we played a 3-5-2 until 3-0? His footwork is world class.

Phube Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 This is what happened when you play Albrighton from the start!
Footnote75 Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 What did he say!? I'm wearing my Kasabian tee today, haha, it's been good luck whenever I wear it on match days. He mentioned one of their songs (I can't remember which, I didn't quite hear properly) in the context of it being important to the club and they asked whether he was a fan. He said he wasn't really but he knew them and thought their music was 'good rock'
22BLUE Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Get Austin in.. Think we'll raise our bid next week! I honestly don't think we need him. Front two playing like that, he will just end up an expensive bench warmer.
iancognito Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Okazaki was amazing today, him & Vardy put in a great shift. Still a bit concerned about conceding two against a relatively average team but it's a minor thing on a fantastic opening day win.
Haydos Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Overall, a very satisfactory start to the new season. Claudio will have observed the weaknesses in defence that were exposed today, and will work on them, with perhaps one more quality signing coming in. Up front we looked really good, but must not throw away opportunities, as we appeared to, today, being sharper and more alert. The new players seem to have slotted in well, and Claudio must be well satisfied. On a personal note, I am confident that that we now have the right manager, who will build us up to a higher level, and instil even greater confidence, and skill levels within the squad. The future is looking promising. You're confident after one game that we have the right manager to take us to the next level? Yet being proved wrong regarding Pearson countless times over the last few years did nothing for you? You're a strange one.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 I honestly don't think we need him. Front two playing like that, he will just end up an expensive bench warmer. I agree, I can't see with the way we play how he would fit in... Kram and Ulloa are good enough
Haydos Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Kingy has been part of many great team performances, surely he is now accepted as being good enough after all the doubts. Anyone who said that is an idiot. Has and always has had great ability. Left in limbo a bit in terms of his role on the field which looked like it rocked his confidence but writing him off was stupid. Glad he's started to get back to the level many know he's capable of.
Matt Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Very good, very good indeed. Shame we conceaded two but that's being picky, it was a great start. Mahrez, wow
SecretPro Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Shinji is a ****ing world beater. Passing game first half was the finest I've witnessed at Leicester. Bit Shakey defensively and Kasper ballsed it up a bit. Overall very very happy.
Jakemoore Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Absolutely superb from every single player today. Couldn't ask for much more. I guess if we were to be totally critical we conceded two avoidable goals but I guess the players took their foot off the guess and were trying to adjust to the pace of the premier league after a pre season playing lower League opposition. All in all a great day! Up the foxes!!!!
22BLUE Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 I agree, I can't see with the way we play how he would fit in... Kram and Ulloa are good enough Exactly, money wasted getting him in. Can't imagine his wages would be cheap either. Never know what will happen further down the line though. All round pretty happy with that. Can't pick out a player who didn't play his part. Maybe Kasper was a bit shakey.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Okazaki was great, caused loads of problems. Didn't really notice King and Drinkwater in the middle, which to me says they did a steady job. Mahrez looked like he was having a great time, which as a fan is what I always enjoy seeing. So positive, bordering on gung-ho at times and thought when Sunderland did score it looked a bit easy for them and they had what looked like some really good chances early doors. And there I was predicting a cagey 0-0. Still wouldn't want to predict how rest of season will pan out, but what a confidence booster. Got sprayed with lager by Sunderland mini bus occupants on way home. Result still stands lads, sorry
SecretPro Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Won my Acca is well today. Possibly the best day ever.
leicesterlad1989 Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 Thought Mahrez was unplayable first half and it looked like Okazaki and Vardy had played togethet for years at time. They proved that playing two similar styles of strikers can work. We created so many chances and could quite easily have been 5 nil up at half time. Only disappointment was the fact we conceded two goals. Bit of hesitation was to blame for the 2nd. Cant ask for much more tho opening game. Dusted off the cobwebs and continued where we left off last season. Overall very pleased.
Molly Posted 8 August 2015 Posted 8 August 2015 I must admit I was a little worried when Kingy missed that open goal.
