Is the 'owner' too egotistic for his position?

You don't usually find billionaire owners of football clubs who aren't a little egotistical. Kinda goes with with territory. Be grateful that ours content themselves with a pic on the front cover of the programme.

We need a Michael Jackson statue.

Vichai is usually on the cover of the match day programme for the first day of the season anyway. Why would anyone really care?

Also heard that the 50p rise was linked to the inclusion of a poster every game nowadays (Okazaki yesterday). Profiteering if true but at least the poster somewhat justifies the price rise.

Didn't mind paying an extra 50p when you get a poster. Got it signed by most of the players too!

No problem with Mr Chairman on the front. He owns the club and has backed up with plenty of monies, you can't complain, surely.

AS long as he is splashing his cash he has the right to take the cover of the programme once in a blue moon, Its not going to effect our results so who really cares

Offendatron doesn't like something shock horror and yes they've done it before, all of a sudden something trivial like this matters - clearly one doesn't get down much not to have noticed before

No, he isn't the most egotistical owner. This has happened previously and it is on an internal document, if you like.

On the list of things to worry/ be offended by as regards owners, this is very low.

As he owns the club and is putting so much into it, I couldn't care if there were posters of him in the Gent's bogs...I really don't think he'd get involved with such a low level issue as to what pictures/stories/etc. are put into the programme. If you don't like the price, don't buy it, and as you get to see the front before you pay, if you don't like the picture, don't buy the programme.

Ehh? What kind of a story is this? I couldnt give a flying f*** who is on the front cover of the program. It could be the Chairman every week for all i care. Talk about someone having time to kill. What a waste of space

It's not a huge deal but I'd rather the owners weren't plastered over a programme or taking part in end of season laps of honour. They've done a good job so far (although by no means perfect) but there's a lot of unnecessary hero worship of them. I won't be grateful to anybody for not managing the club badly; that's the minimum requirement.

The metro needs to FOAD !!

we have a multi award winning match day programme and the metro says it's boring and crap because it has our generous chairman on the front cover who gives a fool what's on the front so long it's nothing to do with LCFC ??

What's up metro nothing else to write about other than have another sly dig at us ! lol

Maybe the metro is the poor relative of the sun ultimate crap !! lol

Nobody is saying we should all hero worship the owners, just not search for things to condemn them about for no reason at all.

I know. But I have come across people who are more enthusiastic about the owners than I think is necessary or deserved. I think they're a good bunch, but I also think it's their job to be a good bunch.

I personally don't mind him featuring on the front cover with say the manager or the captain. LCFC is not his club, just the other day one of the thais said that they are custodians of the club. I'm an old romantic, I still think the club belongs to the fans, the fans collectively contribute 30,000 X £400 X 20 in ticket sales, tens of thousands via merchandise, whatever the fees city get via Sky and other media outlets = £250 million per year, have I got that about right?

Could someone tell me, apart from that money, what have the owners put in? Bear in mind, £250M is one Premiership year.

Nowhere near - the money from fans is a tiny, tiny amount of a clubs operating budget in the premiership, since we're not paying the sky money to the club.

Gate receipts per season around 13million. Sky money 70 million. The fans are not the main contributors. Add in the commercial side and you are close to 86 mill per season. We should have made a tidy profit last season and should be in the black again this campaign.

The owners invested more than a hundred million to get us to where we are. Let's see if they take dividends or continue to invest.

I suppose you could look at it and say it's evidence of the owners taking a higher profile, though I don't see too much of a problem in that in itself. Perhaps he did ask to be the cover picture and, if that's egotistical in your opinion, then okay. But it's more likely to be a case of him reminding disenchanted fans that he's still on their side, after a difficult summer, than a 'check out how powerful I am' moment.

To be honest, if Ranieri builds on his excellent start then controversial sackings and programme covers will hardly matter.
