cc_star Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 Come on, he's a good servant to foxestalk. He's not put 15 years in, so can't be
Corky Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 Hear this so much now it's embarrassing. You really class players on 25 thousand pounds a week such as Konchesky and nugent 'A good servant to the club' If a club came in for them and offered them more wages they would be off in a second. A good servant is someone like Scholes, giggs, gerrard. Players who always turned down other clubs to stay at the club they love. No, they are legends. Good servant means someone who served the club well while they were there. Nugent has, hence he's a good servant, not a legend.
ImBlue Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 He's not put 15 years in, so can't be But he isn't be paid lots of money to be here to be fair..
FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Didnt Konch take a pay cut 2 seasons ago to stay with us when he was being linked with the likes of QPR and Brighton? Id say that thats a pretty decent thing to do

Blanesta Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 I don't think Jimmeh understands what a good servant is, so it's no surprise he gets embarrassed about it.
The whole world smiles Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Well if I was in a job for 4 years... I wouldn't be considered a good servant to the company. You have to be there 15 years for that. Yeah but your career lasts from age 18 to 65 (47 years), a professional footballer's (providing they are not one of the few who get into management or media) lasts approximately from age 18 to 36 (18 years). so there is not a massive difference your 15 years for one company is approximately 32% of your whole career where as David Nugent's 4 years at leicester is approximately 23% of his whole career.

lestajigs Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 Giggs and Scholes keep cropping up a lot. Yeah like they ever had reason to leave, they we're at possibly the biggest club in the world at the time, earning good money and winning things, no wonder they stuck around. Shearer and Gerrard, defo could of gone to bigger clubs won titles, and more money, for me these two have shown very good loyalty
Bayfox Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 Shearer and Gerrard, defo could of gone to bigger clubs won titles, and more money, for me these two have shown very good loyalty But both were playing for the clubs they love. Just because nuge is paid well. Doesn't mean he hasn't been a decent pro, model professional at our club.
mugshot Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 A good servant to the club for me is King - 9 years at the club and saying: “It’s a massive honour to play for this Club every week" “It’s something that we can never take for granted and I know that not just myself, but anyone who plays for this team at the moment is fully grateful to be playing for this Club, especially in the best league in the world.” http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/king-a-massive-honour-to-play-for-this-club-2613287.aspx
HighPeakFox Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 I understand the OP's original premise, even if I disagree with it. There's an easier game - how many players have we had since 2002 that you could say with utter certainty have given their all? I would definitely count Nugent amongst them
Wymsey Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 The 'Birch' surely? Though, when he retires, I can imagine Kingy hanging around talking to fans on matchdays too.
Aylestone Fox Posted 13 August 2015 Posted 13 August 2015 Nuge's last day today,,...good luck Nuggett.

MPH Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 How is it a wind up. Tell me how nugent is a good servant to the club. When he is doing what he is vastly paid to do, on a contract Dennis wise was a bad servant of the club. Caused no end of issues off the field and on it just strutted Around and was clearly here for one last pay cheque. nugent however is fully committed in every game. Tries hard and has never caused an issue. do you not see the difference between a good servant of the club and a bad servant?
Countesthorpe Fox 1884 Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 Gerrard a good servant? Yes he may be a club legend at Liverpool that's why he threw a mardy when Rodgers wouldn't give him a new contract so he's gone to the MLS on even bigger wages because that's what he's paid to do?? King is a club legend imo been here through one of the lowest of the lows in the clubs history and the championship winning season and the great escape never complained just got on with it Nugent was a great servant, 59 goals in 189 games is great for a player who was "Free" let's not forget. Also judging by some of his wife's tweets on Twitter he didn't want to leave either Get in the bin mate
Freesolo Posted 17 August 2015 Posted 17 August 2015 Long gone are the days of players being loyal to their club, the last real Leicester figure who I would consider a servant was Steve Walsh
