RobHawk Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 As for England, they need to regroup and beat the Aussies. Pre tournament, all I heard from Enlgand fans was about them winning the tournament! Well to do that you need to beat the best sides so it's not all over yet!

RobHawk Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 No chance of England beating the Aussies.Course they can! It won't be easy but on home soil, they need to step up now!Don't get why ben youngs was taken off. Thought he was playing wellThat was the turning point for me! Bad move by lancy!

Pre tournament, all I heard from Enlgand fans was about them winning the tournament! Well to do that you need to beat the best sides so it's not all over yet! We had good reason to think we were in an incredibly strong position considering recent performances and the fact we are at home. We have completely fallen of a cliff the past couple of months though. Also no chance of us beating Australia who are favourites for the tournament and will be desperate to beat us at Twickenham as always. England won't recover emotionally from this debacle. Also makes our decision to allow Wales to play most of their games at the Millennium Stadium even more bonkers.
Nalis Posted 26 September 2015 Author Posted 26 September 2015 Still think England will win the group with Wales 2nd. How on earth did Wales win that, fair play
Finnegan Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Course they can! It won't be easy but on home soil, they need to step up now! That was the turning point for me! Bad move by lancy! If Australia turn up and perform and England play like they did against Fiji and Wales then I really can't see England winning. I think Australia will win the group unless they bottle it. Hoops, Pocock, Izzy, Foley, Skelts, it's a very, very good team. Actual world class players.
Footballwipe Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 What a shambles from England. Likely going out in the group stage of your home World Cup after all that build up. Such indiscipline today, it was like watching the Tigers.

You weren't in an incredibly strong position, performances hadn't actually been that great (that's not just my verdict - Guscott, Barnes, Moore, Woodward and plenty of other English pundits have had concerns.) 2. Australia were/are nobody's pre-tournament favourites. Even Campo reckoned it was four years too early for Australia and he'd be happy to just see them develop and he's probably the most biased pundit from any nation, anywhere in the world!! 3. Wales are playing England and Australia at Twickenham. Basically, what you smoking? I'm assuming you only follow rugby when England play a big game?

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't put money on England beating the Aussies. But to say it's game over is ludicrous, especially when your at home and you have nothing to lose! Stranger things have happened!
RobHawk Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Nice to see bigger getting the plaudits! He's been a top player for the last few years but hasn't always been in favour, especially when gats refused to drop preistland!
Finnegan Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Oh of course it's not game over. England will get massive bonus points / points difference off Uruguay, that's a game that's just made for Brown and May. Even a losing bonus point against Australia (or two) makes the group still hugely open. It's also perfectly possible that Australia might just simply choke. If there's questions anywhere about them it's character.

He's been a top player for the last few years but hasn't always been in favour, especially when gats refused to drop preistland! Even as a Scarlets fan I was getting furious with the refusal to drop Priestland. Biggar has grown in to a brilliant all round player. I think he gets quite unfairly overlooked when people discuss the best tens in the Northern hemisphere, I don't think Sexton is noticeably better with ball in hand and I think Biggar is probably the best fly in the world defensively.
cambridgefox Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Let's just say we have made things very difficult to qualify.
purpleronnie Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Can't see Aussies choking, they rarely do... unlike us, well done Wales. Just hoping something weird happens and we make it through. )

Not the biggest rugby fan no but we have come just short in the past couple of Six Nations and were building consistently up to this tournament. However we have regressed significantly in the warm-ups and in our two matches so far this tournament. This is a match we should have won tonight, no excuses. However a home tournament brings uniques pressures and we haven't handled them well at all. That's sport unfortunately and will see what changes will be made upon if/when Lancaster is removed after the tournament. Australia are surely favourites after their Rugby Championship victory but either way, both them and New Zealand look a class above.

Finnegan Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 The Rugby Championship was changed from the usual format this year because of the world cup. It was basically a friendly tournament. I watched the 'decider' between NZ and Aus and it watched like a practice match. Basically, neither side wanted to get injured (and the ABs beat them 41 - 13 the week later.) Make no mistake about it, the real form team in the tournament are the All Blacks and it's not just been in international rugby, it's been their teams in Super Rugby as well. The best three teams were from New Zealand, by a distance. The current South African form could have been predicted easily by the dire form of their domestic sides in Super Rugby. I'm a Super Rugby addict, I watched most of the Southern Hemisphere's club rugby this year and most of the Rugby Championship. Trust me when I say the ABs should walk this world cup, nobody is even close. Of course tournament sport never really works like that but Australia aren't really miles ahead of England and Wales. They're better, yes, but it's not unfathomable that they won't get out of the group either. I think they will and I think we just played the play-off to come second but you never know.
Guest Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 What a thoroughly depressing day of sport's results.
Super_horns Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Typical England in a World Cup - could add to the embarrassment of the football and cricket.. Fair play to Wales though. Need a good performance against the Aussiss.
Guest Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Still Fiji beating the Welsh - quite possible and England beating the Aussies will make this week all the better.
Finnegan Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Still Fiji beating the Welsh - quite possible Jesus, don't. Terrifyingly possible.
RobHawk Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Jesus, don't. Terrifyingly possible. That's 100% the way Wales roll. Beat the English then lose to Fiji! Still a lot to do!
Guest MattP Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Great game, Wales brilliant to win from that we'llddone Finners you bastard. I might stay in tomorrow. Rugby Union is a great game isn't it, the older I getthe more I enjoy it.
