Captain... Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 We will potentially have secured our survival before our first FA cup tie, then we should give everything to winning that trophy. We just can't win the league, can we? Of course we can't, but even if we are still competing for the title/top four there is no reason to not go for it in the cup. Win that and then we can start talking about greatest evers...
dedlock Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 As a kid the FA cup was the pinnacle. 1961,1963 1969 all ended in disappointment. So, for me, Wembley and a win would be special. Besides,in today's terms by 3rd round day we should be all but safe,so why not go for it? F.A. cup winners would make this team the best.
Great Boos Up Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 and NOW will someone agree with weller54 and myself ?
LJS Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 Let's see where we finish first. This definitely has the potential to be up there though. Our best eras in terms of league positions were finishing top three in consecutive seasons in the 1920s, top eight four times in the 60s, Bloomfield's (underachieving?) entertainers in the 70s and O'Neill's side in the late 90s. We have an opportunity to do something very special indeed here but we aren't there yet. There's a very good argument that this is our most memorable period though. The brilliant title winning season in 13/14, the greatest escape last season, and now this. Who knows where we go from here.
weller54 Posted 19 December 2015 Author Posted 19 December 2015 and NOW will someone agree with weller54 and myself ? Confirmative!
davieG Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 Best 5 months maybe but then our tilt at and near miss going for the double in the 60s was pretty exciting. Like then let's see where we end up.
ozleicester Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 Im actualy starting to think.... this season is the one great oportunity, Chelsea and Manu, all over the place. Liverpool not what they were, Arsenal are a real threat and of course Man city, but.... if there was to be a season.. this could be it
Great Boos Up Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 and for the fifth f'in time and five months later! NOW will someone agree with @@weller54 and myself ?
LJS Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Let's win it first. But things are weighed very heavily in your favour!
Carl the Llama Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 and for the fifth f'in time and five months later! NOW will someone agree with @@weller54 and myself ? I would definitely say this is the best season in our history now whatever happens. Era though? Let's make it more than a one-off first. Could still crash out of Europe, ruining England's coefficient in the process and get relegated (probably not but yaknow).

stripeyfox Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 I was thinking about this thread the other day so glad it's been bumped again. I think for me, the answer to the OP 's question is now "Yes"
bluesbrothers Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 Could still crash out of Europe, ruining England's coefficient in the process and get relegated (probably not but yaknow). Carl is a Spurs fan, confirmed.

David Hankey Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 Never in the history of our great Club as a Leicester City team achieved as much as this. Yes, we've had halcyon days before but in the Premiership our reign at the top has never been matched by this 2015/16 season..
foxaholic Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 Never in the history of our great Club as a Leicester City team achieved as much as this. Yes, we've had halcyon days before but in the Premiership our reign at the top has never been matched by this 2015/16 season.. What about the Gillies era we were favourites for the double robbed by injuries for the league and above all it was not unexpected we were in the running . When were Man u regarded as underdogs in a cup final as they were against us /. On the financial front Lenny Glover was a world record fee for a winger. When we are regarded as a top cup we will have arrived hopefully soon.
Captain... Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 If an era is 6 months then yes, if not then no, great eras generally don't include half a season rooted to the bottom of the table. We were top after 4 games under Peter Taylor and look how that ended. Updated: If an era is 12 months then yes, if not then no, although the last 3 seasons have been pretty special, does that count as an era? Hang on... Google, how long is an era?: Ok then I change my mind the Cenozoic era has been the best in this club's history, although the first 65,499,868 years of it were pretty dull, but not as dull as the Mesozoic era.
