biggs Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 If the era is 14 league games.........probably
MC Prussian Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Cue the OP going mental if we go onto a longer winless streak.
Spudulike Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Yeah but, no but, but when did an Irish band ever write a song about us before http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Band-write-song-honour-Leicester-City-s-thrilling/story-27799824-detail/story.html#z3dmRAImQEWKfZji.01
Captain... Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 If an era is 6 months then yes, if not then no, great eras generally don't include half a season rooted to the bottom of the table. We were top after 4 games under Peter Taylor and look how that ended.
Corky Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Not at all, not even close. The last three years have seen us play some sparkling football, though, and shedding the tag of us just being hard working and methodical.
Bamba's Babes Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 It's the healthiest position the club has ever been in.
Frank to be Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 We could be witnessing the start of it, but it definitely hasn't happened yet. Last season was a total disaster bar the miraculous turnaround. We look better prepared for a good season in the premier league now but we'll need two or three or those before we can start talking about great eras. One thing we do have more of now than in our modern history is potential. Under MON there was a sense that we were playing right to the upper limits of our potential. Now, there's a sense that we're just getting started.
hackneyfox Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 No. We played in five Cup Finals during the 60s. 7 Wembley appearances 92 to 2000
Izzy Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Under MON there was a sense that we were playing right to the upper limits of our potential Just think how good MONs teams could have been if they weren't permanently on the piss!! (According to Muzzys book)
Great Boos Up Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Everything seems to be in place to start an era, but we need to keep grounded and support our team through any turbulence without turning fickle
Izzy Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 7 Wembley appearances 92 to 2000 It seemed like a yearly pilgrimage down to the twin towers. How spoilt we were...
VLC86 Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Threads like this make me cringe. We have played 5 matches this season, yes it looks good but let's not forget after 5 matches last season we were talking about Liam Moore for England, easily staying up and that. It could still all go Pete Tonge so let's enjoy winning and playing exiting football but not get carried away by it.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 the 60s seem to be our peak, even if we bottled pretty much every attempt at silverware.
Guest kristianity77 Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Its not the best Era no. The O'neill era is the best one of recent times because of cup wins etc. This team plays the best football of the lot though I think.
Littletoe Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Yeah I agree with a few on here, this could " Potentially " be the start of something to compare to the MON era. But if we are being honest with ourselves, we need to keep grounded and realistic. This forum went nuts after Stoke/Man Utd last season, then guess what? We crumbled...Personally, a massive success this season for me is a mid table finish. If Ranieri can give us the building blocks, like he did at Chelsea, then i think it's very likely we will see great times ahead.
Freesolo Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 Best time to be a fan (in my living years) has to be when we won the Worthington Cup. Still get goosebumps from it. You mean the Coca Cola Cup
dorsetboy Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 no where near yet im afriad the oneill team was one heck of a team in its day top tens cup final europe we had it all the team had character ,flair .power and a togetherness ive still yet to see with this team im not getting carried away for 3 reasons 1. we did well at the start of last season and only just survivied 2. we have not played any of the big boys yet so its hard to judge 3.were only 5 games in
gurru991 Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Way too early to get excited, we need to get to the half way mark of the season to judge how we are doing. There is not a doubt in my mind that our owners want success & that in its self leads me to believe that good things are gonna happen but no "era" yet.
foxfanazer Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 It's the most entertaining by a long way imo but not the most successful yet
foxfanazer Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 You mean the Coca Cola CupNo it was the Worthington Cup in 2000
wokinghamfox Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Come on, three successive top ten finishes, two cup wins and some Europe action in late nineties against what 14th place finish last season? Way too premature. Summed up brilliantly.
st albans fox Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Yes if you are under 20 years old As many of us older members often say, there was football before the premier league ................. Context is everything.
crisp packet Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 Wow . Just no. Short memory's ? We have played 5 games ffs...last season???? Not 5 seasons . 60's and 90's was the most successful (was around for the latter) Healthiest position as a club?? Yes I'd agree with that ... Ground, training ground bank balance squad etc
Mark_w Posted 17 September 2015 Posted 17 September 2015 An era needs to be a few seasons long, for starters. Well I've quite enjoyed the last few seasons.
