EnglishOxide Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon has revealed he would love to play in the Premier League one day. The goalkeeper has spent his whole career in Italy, amassing 559 appearances in Serie A to date and winning six league titles. The 37-year-old has been the undisputed No.1 at Juventus since joining them from Parma in 2001 for over £30m. He is still going strong in Turin but has hinted that he would be keen on a spell in England before hanging up his gloves. ADVERTISING "I would have loved to have played in the Premier League," Buffon told Marca. "I have spent 10 years at Parma, 15 at Juventus and I think I still have around two and a half years left at the top. There still may be an opportunity." What are our chances of capturing this guy? 5 years younger than Schwarzer. Italian connection. And I love Kasper but let's be honest he is a bit of a weak link in a squad that continues to strengthen...
J.Lisemore Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 If we had never of signed Cambiasso, I'd be laughing at this. But signing Buffon could genuinely be a possibility.
indierich06 Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 What would be the point? He comes here and gets the occasional run out in the cup, like Schwarzer? He's too old to start week in, week out in the PL.
NewquayFox Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Top keeper and he would grace any Premier side.... Up the City.....
AKCJ Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 What would be the point? He comes here and gets the occasional run out in the cup, like Schwarzer? He's too old to start week in, week out in the PL. Just the 47 games last season...
filbertstreet Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Our Claudio would have worked with him at Juve, wouldn't half mind getting him in, maybe he could teach Kasper something
Durnerz Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Hes brilliant and most definitely still has it but is there much point for one season at the expense of gaining Premier League experience for Kasper?
Max Power Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 What would be the point? He comes here and gets the occasional run out in the cup, like Schwarzer? He's too old to start week in, week out in the PL.He's ten times better than Schemichel and probably will be still in 2-3 years time. He ain't coming to play in the cup, he ain't coming full stop but you know...
Guest Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Hes brilliant and most definitely still has it but is there much point for one season at the expense of gaining Premier League experience for Kasper? Maybe he'll be better than Kasper for the next 3 years. Possibility of selling Kasper for good money and getting another backup in to train up for when needed. Kasper does some things great but personally he worries me a lot of times too. I think we can do better.

katieakita Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 37, he has been around for what seems ever and anyone who doesn't think he can do a job!! have a word.
Fox92 Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 No point. Even more so when you consider his wages.
Nick Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 I think we should show Kasper a bit of loyalty myself - as he has shown us. If I'm honest there are a few other positions I'd look at first and they stand directly in front of him.

TheUltimateWinner Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Goalkeepers don't lose ability at that age like players do. Would be a big step up on what we have, got such an all round game to him and Kasper will get the stewardship he's needed for a long time. Make it happen.
foxoffderby Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Is there any water on your planet? only half of it

The Railway Man Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 What would be the point? He comes here and gets the occasional run out in the cup, like Schwarzer? He's too old to start week in, week out in the PL. He played nearly 50 times last season in a team that won Serie A and got to the Champions League final. He'll still at his age be courted by far bigger clubs than us but Buffon will still be a better choice than anything we have at 47 let alone 37, the man is one of the greatest to ever walk the planet.

If I'm honest there are a few other positions I'd look at first and they stand directly in front of him. Don't forget Kasper ran his contract out to see what others offers he had on the table. This is football, if better than Kasper becomes avaliable and we have the chance to sign them of course we do it, that's how you advance.
sly1 Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 He won't come here ,too old anyway up the city

Sharpe's Fox Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 We already have a good goalkeeper. Would Buffon come in and improve results? No because his effect on the pitch would be minimal.

Given he's the still in the top 5 goalkeepers in the World I'd say there is a chance he'd possibly improve results. In the same way I'd expect if we signed Messi, Bale, Ronaldo, Suarez or Neymar.
