Fox92 Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Given he's the still in the top 5 goalkeepers in the World I'd say there is a chance he'd possibly improve results. In the same way I'd expect if we signed Messi, Bale, Ronaldo, Suarez or Neymar. That's not a direct comparison. They are in their prime though and among the best players in the World though.
The Railway Man Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 That's not a direct comparison. They are in their prime though and among the best players in the World though. Ok.. Change them to Iniesta, Zlatan, Terry, Alonso or Pirlo then.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 In fairness, I think we can all agree he's miles better than Kasper. But in the long term, it's probably best not to. Mainly because I couldn't imagine Kasper wanting to be number two and as soon as Buffon would retire we'd have a keeper crisis on our hands and besides apart from a few games this season, Kasper has looked more than capable at this level and doesn't really need replacing.

Dan Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Wouldn't turn that down. I think Schmeichel could learn a lot from him as well. One of the best goalkeepers ever.
Guest Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 If Manu or some other big team wanted Kasper he'd go. Buffon is better, will make our team better and will be better for a while yet. I'd take buffon on a 3 year contract, keep kasper, unless he wanted to go and we got a decent bid in, and allow Schwarzer to go into coaching. I don't think it's as hard as some think to get a Kasper level keeper when you are a prem team.
filbertstreet Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Going for "most international captains in a team"
The Horse's Mouth Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 we've only played a few games this season well you know what I mean , he was so great when he came back. He's just started a little slowly
Sampson Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Get him in! I tend to think Kasper is one of the weakest 1st choice keepers in the PL. He's been poor so far this season and looks like the Championship keeper he looked like for the first half of last season again. He did have a really good spell at the end of last season after he returned from injury, but overall the jury is still out on him at this level I feel. He's a likeable person for sure and we're all grateful for what he did for us in the Championship, but we can definitely improve there and Buffon would definitely be a vast improvement.
Kitchandro Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 37 isn't that old. Schmeichel isn't the complete goalkeeper some make him out to be and Schwarzer is dreadful. Would be a dream come true to have Buffon here.
GeorgeTheFox Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 people saying he's past it he had one of his best seasons in a while last season, and has even be tipped by some as a shock contender for the ballon d'or third place
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 If he came Kasper would leave, then in a year or two we have to go out and get another keeper. Kasper could stay with us and do well for another decade. No ta.

Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 He's 37. Would be 38 when we get him, he will deteriorate at a very fast rate when he does start to deteriorate, and that could quite easily be before the end of this season, never mind next year when we would be looking at getting him. He's a great keeper but we don't want to be signing 38 year olds, certainly not on 3 year contracts like some have said, that's more than saying you don't want a 38 year old.

Xen Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 People saying Buffon would be able to teach Kaspar because he's one of the best goalkeepers ever, as if Kaspar's dad isn't also on that list Would love him here nonetheless, for obvious reasons. Hefty wage though, and he could easily have his pick of the prem clubs (so probably not us) if he wanted to come to England.
AyewJoking Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Who was better, Peter Schmeichel or Buffon? You may say that Kasper has already learned from the greatest.
Stuntman_Mike Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Just me who sees Kasper as a bit of a weak link
MPH Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 I think we should show Kasper a bit of loyalty myself - as he has shown us. If I'm honest there are a few other positions I'd look at first and they stand directly in front of him. Hmm.... I see your point but that sort of mentality will only hold us back as a club from getting better. You see a possibility to improve a position and then you usually go for it, is how it usually happens.
Max Power Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Just me who sees Kasper as a bit of a weak link Wouldn't say weak link but I don't think he's that good tbh
TheStig Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 As if Buffon would come to Leicester As would Cambiasso........
Dan Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Anyone who doesn't think this would be a serious upgrade on Schmeichel is deluded as hell. Schmeichel's a good goalkeeper but his flaws are obvious and he's not a kid anymore. Buffon is probably still in the top five keepers in the world even now. Once again though I wonder if I've written too much on something that just simply isn't happening anyway. I reckon if he comes to England it'll be Man Utd.
MPH Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 As would Cambiasso........ Well, to be fair, Cambiasso was out of contract and Even teams like West Ham wouldnt take him without a trial.....
