Nobody could've imagined he'd be as good as he is now but I never thought he looked bad anyway. Just didn't have the composure in front of goal he has added to his game

I can honestly say that I always stuck by him. I'll admit that I did have some doubts before he eventually came good but I was sure that he was worth persevering with. NP deserves credit for signing him and for showing the faith in him by giving him the time to develop. I laughed at the fools who said we should sell him to West Brom last season for £5m. How stupid would that look now?

This should be a lesson learned regarding Kramaric & Okazaki as players can need time to settle, especially those coming to the Premier League from abroad.

I still remember the meltdown on here when Vardy and Drinkwater started against boro on the first day of the season. Only for both of them to pop up with the goals.

I remember that as well: even before the kick-off there were posters calling for Pearson's head. I loved it when Vardy and Drinkwater scored: sometimes it is better to keep your thoughts to yourself, which is a lesson some people should learn when City go one or two down.

I agree 100%, and I just hope that Ranieri is as good as Pearson clearly was at putting his hand round a player's shoulder. Kramaric in particular is potentially a fantastic signing for us, and just needs to bed in to the Premier League.

To be fair to those that had doubts, it's well documented that not even he himself believed he was good enough during that season.

He wanted to go out on loan - ready to give up, or at least drop down a level. It was thanks to Pearson and the other back room lads that Vardy's still here (and don't take that as me being a Pearson-lover, it's just fact).

Personally, I had blind belief in him to come good in the Championship – but must admit I didn't see him as a Premier League player. I thought he'd be useful as he was lightning quick and clearly had the knack of trying to get himself in the right place at the right time. Thought Vardy could help us get promoted, but when we signed Wood I thought Wood looked more equipped for the Premier League.

Couldn't agree more!

In the summer of 2012/13, I had a conversation with a member of the backroom staff and the subject of Vardy cropped up. I suggested that a loan move or even a permanent move to a League One club might do Vardy the power of good. I was told in no uncertain terms that Nigel Pearson believed in him unequivocally - so much so that "he thinks he can definitely play at a higher level." I raised my eyebrows at this and was ultimately proved wrong, just as NP was proved hugely right.

Yeah, I probably did want him out. Delighted to be proven wrong twice (doubted him last season before February).

Even have to admit that even at the end of last season I thought he would not make it in this league. Honestly think he had become a fine finisher

As long as we play to his and the teams strength. Wonder how he would now play in a crap team like Liverpool. Would do well at Man City or Man Utd because he would get the service.

He was shocking in the first season. Looked completely out of depth. I don't know what he did during the summer at the end of that season, but the transformation was ridiculous when he came back in August.

He didnt take a holiday, he chose to train with the under 21s all summer, So he could start the season firing on all cylinders. I think that speaks volumes about his attitude and professionalism.

Apart from that i think he just needed to believe in himself and confidence is a wonderful thing.

He always showed great desire and effort, but I'll be the first to admit I was unsure of him after the 2012/13 season. But fair play, to what he has achieved since then and going into England where he looks like he has cemented a place in the squad. I've never seen a player hound defenders like the way he does with so much aggression. It's fantastic to see. He is becoming my favourite ever Leicester player.

I was one of those that backed him to succeed in his first season, I also backed Waghorn to succeed, partly because I will support anyone in the royal blue that gives 100%.

With Vardy a few things were clear, he had exceptional pace, great work rate and attitude, he made a good start then had a season hampered by illness niggly injuries and a crisis of confidence he was certainly unpolished, but his flaws were things that could be taught and improved upon, such as composure and decision making, remember this was a guy who hadn't had much professional training and development.

Waghorn on the other hand had been trained by premier league coaches at Sunderland and by the coaches at Leicester and was still making basic mistakes and had serious flaws in his technique.

I still backed them both though because they played with pride for the club.

Love to re-read those early threads.

People with no understanding shitting on new players with unreasonable expectations.

When he was linked to West Brom for £5 million last season I thought that's a great deal for us.

I have been proved wrong so many times by this stupid football club and its players. I try not to be a drama queen anymore because of it.

Me too, I didn't see the point in turning down that money when we looked nailed on to go down. More than happy to be made to look a prat.

...Since Jamie Vardy's misery season of 2012/13

Come on admit it, Who wanted his head?

I wanted him sold/got rid of as recently as mid last season. Thought 13/14 was a fluke and he wasn't good enough at the highest level. Delighted he proved me wrong.

I can remember being at the game and being very surprised Nugent didn't start. We were very very poor first half.

Nugent changed the game when he came on at half time.

Proud to say that when nearly everyone wanted him gone and the quality of all of Pearson's signings were being questioned, I was saying that Vardy could still turn out to be a very good signing.

I didn't expect this much improvement this quickly though. Even pre-season when I was saying he'll just get better and better, I didn't expect the kind of improvement he's shown this quickly. The man is awesome.

For those who don't know, if he scores against Palace, he'll smash Arthur Rowley's club record of 7 in 7 consecutive top flight games.

I just hope I haven't jinxed him now.

This is what happens if you take someone else's word for it instead of checking things out for yourself which I normally do.

I have since done so and the club records are 9 in 8 consecutive games by Arthur Chandler but that included an FA Cup game. As Vardy hasn't been playing in the League Cup and isn't likely to play against Hull, he won't be reaching that anytime soon.

The record for consecutive league games is 8 in 7 by Chandler in the same run as above and 11 in 7 by Rowley but these records were achieved in division 2 so if Vardy scores against Palace, he'll equal both, slightly better Chandler, but he'll be the only one to have done it in the top division.

It says everything about him. That's such a great attitude ...... and confidence is achieved by believing that you belong somewhere - by training through that summer he clearly also gained that feeling and through hard work improved his confidence for the start of the next season.

To be honest, I didn't think he'd get much game time this season. I thought Kramaric was going to set the league on fire. Pleased to be wrong!

Me too ..... Sad that Kram hasn't though ..... I thought he'd be a top player.
