Parafox Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 Just case you're with TalkTalk... British broadband provider TalkTalk has been hacked for the third time, the company announced late Thursday, and customers' data — including credit card details — may have been stolen. In a statement, TalkTalk called the attack "significant and sustained." Up to 4 million customers may be affected, according to the Financial Times. The Metropolitan Cyber Crime Unit is now investigating. TalkTalk shares have plummeted 9% on the news. It's not clear who is behind the hack yet, but a group claiming to be a Russian jihadist cyberterrorist group is claiming responsibility. BuzzFeed has spoken to a TalkTalk customer included in an apparent preliminary dump of customer data, and it appears to be legitimate — although the hacker's stated political affiliation could well be false.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 I've just given all my pin numbers to some bloke called Ivan so he can sort it all out for me. Thank goodness!
Fox92 Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 Someone needs to tell them to install AVG At first sight I thought that said LVG and wondered what's Van Gaal going to improve.
MPH Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 At first sight I thought that said LVG and wondered what's Van Gaal going to improve. He'd shore up their defence and then send them out on the attack!!!
StanSP Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 my nigerian mate that e-mailed me the other day assured me my details were safe. he asked for all my personal details including pin number and card details so he could look at what was stolen from talktalk and nothing was duplicated.
Danizen Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 At first sight I thought that said LVG and wondered what's Van Gaal going to improve.Everything. He's a revolutionary. You just have to wait for the philosophy to kick in and if it doesn't, it's definitely not his fault.
Thracian Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 Not the least bit surprised. It's like putting your trust in a shrapnel-peppered condom.
Unabomber Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 It's like putting your trust in a shrapnel-peppered condom. never again
ithuriel Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 Knew I should have dropped them a month ago when I was considering BT, they really are a shambles and of course the accounts page is down.
ithuriel Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 Just been on the phone to the TalkTalk Asian call centre, got less information out of them than was on the news, just bullshit about how they are working with the cyber crime unit and them not knowing what has actually been hacked. They would not even admit to being hacked for the third time, even though I said it had been on the news with the head of TalkTalk being interviewed. Basically all they are doing is giving out bland reassurances and a years credit checking with Noddle worth a massive £20.
Strokes Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Anyone who stays with TalkTalk after this deserves their identity being stolen. Plusnet are much better.
ithuriel Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Going to check out other providers, was toying with BT but have heard from a couple of peeps they might not be the best.
m4DD0gg Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 I have done work for TalkTalk, their entire IT infrastructure is a total mess.
Filberts Treat Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Moved to BT recently and I've had no problems. Plus free BT sport. No brainer
pSinatra Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 I moved to BT Infinity about a month ago. Easy decision. I've always considered Talktalk useless, but they were cheap. I was sick of getting cold calls all day every day & if I ever had to speak to their customer services it was a total pain in the arse & I usually got nowhere. About 2 days after swapping over I got one of those dodgy calls claiming he was from Talktalk. As soon as I said I was with BT he hung up on me I still get the occasional cold call but only a fraction of what I was getting with Talktalk. It was getting ridiculous
Saxondale Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 We're with these clowns, though we won't be after we move house. The wife has since had an email from them basically saying "it ain't quite as bad as we first thought" but, still, they need to sort this nonsense out. How can one of the UK's largest ISPs' own website be so vulnerable? I think we're going to see a lot more of this sort of thing over the next couple of years.
