Is Danny Simpson doing enough?

Simpson loves a hug doesn't he. Always the first man to celebrate with whoever scores.

I've been noticing this for the last few months. Personal problems aside, he seems like a really good team spirit, locker room guy on top of the good performances he's been putting in. I think I can count on one hand the goals scored since he began starting where he wasn't the first or second guy celebrating with the goalscorer.

I get your point but were 5 points ahead of Spurs and top of the league, so I'd rather stick with the Leicester city tactics at the moment thanks

They cant  beat us when we are at full   strength  the proof of the pudding is in the eating

yes

since we dropped de laet and brought in Simpson we have been a lot lot stronger in defence

also (in my eyes) he has been a rock in our last 3 games

I am one for giving ppl second chances and he deserves a medal.  Great season Danny

We have become the team that turns unknowns or rejects into world beaters! .......... and wife beaters

thats a bit harsh

second chance ???

Considering most matches he has little defensive cover from Mahrez he has done well.  Lacks any real attacking intent, overlap FB play but he is getting better in that area.

I'm so glad we don't have over lapping full backs, like Everton for example. We'd still be leaking 2 goals a game like at the start of the season.

At first I missed the goals... But now we are scoring as many... I love it when I see the opposition with both full backs attacking... We just know itll be a matter of time before N'Golo- Mahrez- Vaaaarrrrddddyyyyy

Although he's not great going forward regardless, I think its a tactical thing that he contributes so little going forward. Its the same with Fuchs on the other side - both sit back and maintain the shape which allows the front players to do the damage.

In the summer, I hope we sign an experienced right back not to replace Simpson, but someone in the same ilk as Fuchs. Someone that would improve our squad strength, a great professional and would be willing to help improve Danny's game even more!

doing a solid job

does nothing going forward though but it doesn't really matter

need to get a better RB in the summer though

Like everyone, Simpson hasn't suddenly become a world class player..lol

He's simply benefitted from playing in a team with better players than last season, full of confidence and where the team ethos is second to none. Last season he was pretty crap. This season, completely the opposite.

I have my doubts about Simpson. He's not really Prem quality. What really annoys me (as a defender) that when a winger comes at him he backs off, backs off and invites the winger into the box. He needs to stand his ground making it harder for them to get round Fuchs doesn't do it, but every game he does it. I'm not bothered that he doesn't go forward enough, and yes, he does seem to be exposed with Mahrez. But he does worry me and maybe a weak link in our side.

Saying all this he is in a team that heasnt conceded many recently, but I'm never comfortable when he's one-on-one, unlike Fuchs.

If Swansea are relegated get Kyle Naughton back

Why on earth at this very minute are you thinking about replacing Simpson, especially with Kyle Naughton. Simpson has been so consistent for us and solid, and more importantly part of a back 5 that keeps clean sheets.

As for Naughton, he was the dogs bollocks in that season we had him but clearly not amounted to much in the premiership. If we were looking to replace DS we should be looking at better than Naughton

I'd be surprised if we brought in a replacement for Simpson in the summer I'd imagine it will be a young up and coming rb who has a lot of potential ie pereira from sampdoria, he really has been solid since replacing rdl

Feel for him getting sent off today after a second yellow. He's been superb since he's come into the side at RB.

Our defence has improved with Simpson's inclusion but that's probably blinded us into thinking we're as good as we can be when we're not.

In fact we're missing a whole dimension but I won't labour the point because what we've already achieved has been way beyond even the most optimistic imagination.

If I said our wonderful team can be improved 20-40% fairly quicky and easily, I can only imagine you laughing. But it's what I believe.
