Is Danny Simpson doing enough?

I like that fact he'll run from anywhere to join in for the goal celebration picture!! ;)

Some top quality performances all season long, he gets better every game was shite in his first run in for the team but this season he is a different player. solid defenders, deserves a call up.

Has been very solid and apart from an off side goal yesterday we would have kept another clean sheet. A solid part of a team that is performing so well, his well publicised off field antics seem to have been put behind him. Hopefully now he can appreciate what he has both on and off the pitch.

He's been fantastic since coming in at RB, really solid and composed performances from him. He's part of a back four which is in great form, as is the whole team.

Simpson loves a hug doesn't he. Always the first man to celebrate with whoever scores.

Sometimes with too much passion  but fair play to him, he looks to have got his life back on track both on and off the field and people do make mistakes some worse than others but he deserves credit for turning things around.

There was no excuse for yesterday's back-pass - either his own mistake of passing without looking, his team-mates apparently failing to give him an early-enough call, the voluntary disruption which our last two, totally unnecessary, changes created in the balance of our team and its organisation, or the fact that Simpson even thought about passing backwards in a situation that was never forced but which he chose as a means of playing down time.

Simpson has been immense for us defensively. Significant mistakes are made over a period of time by everyone but there's no denying the improvement in our defending since Simpson's replaced DeLaet for all that the tactical organisation in that area still needs further improvement.

As for Simpson being England material he's good but he wouldn't be my choice as yet, though he might develop. Watching Spurs yesterday gave a glimpse of the way I'd like us to use full-backs.

Davies, on the left, was incredible in the way he supported so many attacks and created real danger. Reminded me so much of the way Manchester United used to use Gary Neville, Evra and others...like supplementary wingers with a considerable goalscoring bonus at times.

Our system would need to be re-adapted to do this. Spurs used a supplementary centre-back in much the way Pearson did in playing three at the back.

In the end though, it's the way forward. We have to increase our fire-power to succeed in Europe. Vardy and Mahrez are better than brilliant but it's a thinly-spread armoury for all that they're so potent.

He's been given a job to do and is doing it well.  I'm glad he's not the type of player to be going forward at every opportunity.

His passback yesterday was horrendous

It was shocking but I think the blame is on Dyer for putting him in that position when he should've cleared it.

I think we are doing alright as we are.  If you want us to play like Spurs we will go back to being caught out at the back.  If they bomb forward then either Kante or Drinkwater would be dropping back to provide cover and Riyad or Albrighton wouldn't be occupying the spaces they are doing the most damage.

I like how we defend as a team and attack as a front force but our defence isn't out of place if the attack breaks down.  Usually teams then build up play slowly passing around which gives us time to get back into position and help the defence out, ready for the next attack.

I get your point but were 5 points ahead of Spurs and top of the league, so I'd rather stick with the Leicester city tactics at the moment thanks

The thing with the Spurs example is that our attacking players have been capable of doing the attacking so why go completely gung ho and conceded more when you might suggest what we do at the minute is 'working'

We now have 2 fullbacks.Simpson moves forward does get some crosses in,

but unlike fuchs he is more comfortable and happy it seems in the 1st 3/4 of the pitch,

and will stand off more often than not.

Whatever, his play in his own zone has been top notch, his defending across the whole of the backline, he usually is in control, a little mishap yesterday, but even the greats have made mistakes.

Of all players hes been the most positive suprise.

He doesnt go to ground easily, he prefers not to slide tackle in or near the penalty area.

Maybe the Ranieri influence. If his performance level stay at this level, there no reason he shouldnt

become a permanent feature for a few seasons.

Me too, I was quoting the post about Spurs fullbacks.  I enjoy our style, it works and winds fans up that love possession

Fair play to Simpson for turning it around on and off the pitch, but his position is one of those that will be under threat in the summer when we start preparing for our European adventure.

Spurs system has 2 defensive midfielders, one,Dier ,a centre back, shielding the back four and allowing cover for wing backs

We have 2 full backs that defend properly and that is why we are so steady st the back, Simpson made 1 mistake yesterday and we got away with it so keep it going please......

Up the City.....
