mozartfox Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 Yes he is. If it was not for his off the field antics, I think he would be receiving a lot more praise and compliments. But unfortunately what he has allegedly done is unacceptable and he has to live with that.
RonnieTodger Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 Made a very important tackle in the first half on Saturday. Goal-saving tackle at Southampton as well when Schmeichel made a balls-up.
Babylon Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 Doing very well, to say he doesn't offer as much going forward as De Laet is a fallacy. De Laet might have galloped up pitch but he did nothing with it anyway.
MPH Posted 23 November 2015 Author Posted 23 November 2015 2 dependable full backs playing well has seemed to make the world of difference to us....
Len Finsbury Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 Yes he is. If it was not for his off the field antics, I think he would be receiving a lot more praise and compliments. But unfortunately what he has allegedly done is unacceptable and he has to live with that. I think his off-field antics is why we're even discussing him to the extent that we are. Things like that can cloud a person's judgement of him as a player.

In a few games now, Simpsons been the guy next to Mahrez, giving small easy 1-2s and stood off supporting Mahez or Albrighton, when a move has developed along the right Flank. Made a few good tackles and pressed along that flank.Plus hes cut inside well a few times Ps..sorry just reread the post , misunderstood your point. Simpson is doing more.
Countryfox Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 Part of a back four that is, imo, getting a little stronger every game. This is partly to do with them playing regularly and increasing their understanding of each other and perhaps also a general belief in the "We are a good team " feeling that permeates all the players at the moment. I also think we have adequate replacements for both fullbacks in DeL and Schlupp but still need a young, ball playing, strong CB at some point in the near future.
Fox92 Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 All four defenders were superb again on Saturday. I agree with the above, getting stronger every game. Even Huth seems to have 'recovered' from his slow(ish) start.
Wymsey Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 Very much more concentrated and aware than De Laet. Glad he's having confidence to go forward, but he isn't a left-back and should remain on the defensiveness as we've already got mass of (clinical) attackers on the pitch ahead of him.
Gerard Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 Doing very well, to say he doesn't offer as much going forward as De Laet is a fallacy. De Laet might have galloped up pitch but he did nothing with it anyway. I agree with this. Simpson doesn't do much offensively but he is Mr Dependable as our right back. When I think of what he did all match on reflection I can rarely remember but you could usually remember an error or two by De Laet. He's a great foil for Mahrez as Simpson likes the defensive side and Mahrez the offensive side but neither are that good at doing the opposite, he give licence to Mahrez to do what he does best.# The stat that we haven't conceded a goal in open play in six games since Fuchs and Simpson became our full backs is remarkable. If we can concede a lot less goals from open play and couple that with our potential to score goals those stats could take us to a place no one dare to mention.
Captain... Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 Credit where it is due he is playing well and hasn't assaulted any women for nearly a year, but I would still like a new RB in January. If we can mirror clone Fuchs, then I would be very happy.

However, I don't mind Simpson and glad he's proving a lot of people wrong
4everfox Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 Danny Simpson is an unsung hero this season in my opinion. I've had my doubts about him but he has been sheer class for us this season and I'm firmly in the "I think Danny Simpson is a quality footballer and important player for us" group, if there is such a group.
GaelicFox Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 Brill He is grasping his 2nd chance with two hands !
FoxesFan94 Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 Yeah he was immense today. I forgive him for his backpass.
FireFox Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 Brill He is grasping his 2nd chance with two hands ! Grasping it around the throat and not letting go! All jokes aside, he's stepped up, and if Claudio rates him, then that is good enough for me.
Charl91 Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 Other than that back pass, he has been ridiculously good recently. I can't remember which game it was (Stoke I think, but possibly Liverpool), where he kept appearing out of nowhere to make defensive header after header, which always looked bound to go straight to their Strikers a few yards from goal.
AyewJoking Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 god times if we are questioning a player who has been brilliant
SecretPro Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 Simpson is ****ing solid. Absolutely solid. Could have ****ed up with the backpass today but just seeing him pissing himself with laughter afterwards made me realise we are MASSIVE and we don't give a **** about MAN CITY.
Chester Dontlie Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 I thought he was great at Etihad, one of his best games, if not the best one I've seen. That back pass, he was just checking if Kasper isn't asleep
americanfox Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 Simpson was on the verge of an England call up when he was at Newcastle had a period of a season or so where he was very good. It was a surprise he left to go to QPR and then since that he's not reached the same level of quality. This season though he's been fairly faultless and it's good we know we've a dependable right back on our books. I'd still be looking to strengthen that position but that doesn't mean he'll be dropped as he's stepping up week after week. It was definitely a vote of confidence from Claudio and the staff that they let RDL go out on loan, since there's no natural RB cover (Amartey technically, I guess).
Tuna Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 We'll forgive the 5 seconds at the end of the game when he morpherd into Konchesky.
foxinsox Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 Simpson is great defensively, and it is not easy being behind Mahrez who is weaker defensively. I don't blame him for being reluctant going forward. Indeed our first 11 are all terrific at present. Great spirit.
