Arriba Los Zorros Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 Don't care if he's playing well, still want to see him out the club
Nick Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 Not keen on his decision making with ball at feet. That said he's holding on to the shirt just about deservedly.
Guest Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 Doing well but not sure he ever stops crosses from his side.
Lichfieldfox. Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 Getting better. Car crash vs West Ham in the cup. Looks more solid now as defender. Awful offensive distribution yesterday Danny 'think I'm Beckham, not' Simpson long balls back to opposition several times
foxoffderby Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 He played OK yesterday, but its going to take a lot to convince me long term. He had a couple of good crosses yesterday, but he plays too many aimless long balls which don't connect or end up as meat and drink for the oppo CB's. Want somebody else in Jan.

Awful offensive distribution yesterday Danny 'think I'm Beckham, not' Simpson long balls back to opposition several times Car crash, hope not, he has a lovely little car. Looks as small as him but much sexier..and faster..and will go past people,
Devonfox1884 Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 He'll do as a back-up for a new RB in Jan, De Laet can leave in that case, good servant, but the championship is his level.
ThaiFox Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 So what's the difference when Fuchs had/has Mahrez? Because Fuchs is an international captain and high quality defender. He rarely gets caught out of position and rarely lets his opponent get decent crosses in (if they can at all). De Laet is just not good enough at this level and is caught out of position. Other teams were targeting De Laet and so many goal were conceded from that wing, or from others being out of position because De Laet had bombed up field. Simpson is having a run in the team and the other three defenders look much more assured knowing they don't have to cover De Laet's poor positioning. Simpson, whatever you think of him as a person, is playing well and currently looks pretty solid.
DangerFox Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 We do need a new RB. We need a cross between Simpson and De Laet. Somebody who is good going forward adding to the attack like De Laet but then somebody who is good at defending like Simpson. Perhaps Fuchs has a twin we don't know of for the RB position?
cityfanlee23 Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 Keep him, Sell De Laet and get a first team replacement at RB. Improved defensively under Simpson, If he can get his Newcastle form back and keep improving as he is now, he will be a quality backup.
bluesbrothers Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 He'll do as a back-up for a new RB in Jan, De Laet can leave in that case, good servant, but the championship is his level. For as long as Patrick Van Aanholt is still starting week-in week-out for Sunderland, I'd say that De Laet is still good enough for a lower-half Prem team.
cityfanlee23 Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 Kyle Naughton has been doing okay at swansea, although they are off form, he's still looked solid when i've seen him this year.
TJB-fox Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 Kyle Naughton has been doing okay at swansea, although they are off form, he's still looked solid when i've seen him this year.Wasn't great away at Norwich on Saturday, but in all honesty Naughton is exactly the sort of signing I'd like in January, someone like him would fit in well I think.
Livid Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 I'm happy for him to start. I'd rather have a RB who is solid defensively and not so great getting forward than the other way round. Mahrez isn't a defensive minded player which left RDL exposed as our weakest link (Now it's just set pieces). Nothing against RDL but the way we set up wasn't helping him.
Lambert09 Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 i'd take Trippier in a heartbeat, problem is Spurs wouldnt sell and we dont want a loan. I have faith that Walsh will get it right.
Finnegan Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 He's better than De Laet but it's still obviously the area that needs strengthening. If we can improve we should. Why wouldn't you?
Dan Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 6 goals conceded in 5 games with him in the team compared to 14 goals in 7 without him. He's definitely more solid than De Laet.
Bamba's Babes Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 6 goals conceded in 5 games with him in the team compared to 14 goals in 7 without him. He's definitely more solid than De Laet. So is jelly!
Stevosevic Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 6 goals conceded in 5 games with him in the team compared to 14 goals in 7 without him. He's definitely more solid than De Laet. 4 of those 6 goals from set pieces and the other two were penalties. Our defence from open play has certainly improved.
CORNFOX68 Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 He is a really good defender, stays in position and rarely misses a tackle, good in the air. His huge weakness is going forward, yesterday not once did he create anything from his forward play and clearly lacks confidence in that area. I think he is a much better option than De Laet though as he does his job of defending very well. agree
CosbehFox Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 He's a better option but it's not saying much. I would be scouring the globe for a replacement
Bryn Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 Could do with a similar style of right back for me but a more physical presence. Still good on the ball but over 6 foot and strong. Got plenty of forward options.
weller54 Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Got to say he's made the right back spot his own now.. Amazing transformation and didn't think he'd ever make the step up that he has!... Wonder if ranieri will look to sign a replacement in January now?
Fox92 Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Another good performance yesterday. Could have quite easily scored, too.
