Fox92 Posted 17 November 2015 Posted 17 November 2015 Love this mentally of the Irish, we're just here to get pissed up and we don't care about the football side to it. Why you're a nation of losers. Even Roy Keane said it, least England go into it to win it. We don't go there to have fun, Ireland go out in the groups and they get clapped of the plane. Probably because they're not even expected to qualify? England have always had far better quality than a team like Ireland. We should be going with the attitude to win it because we have great players on their day. Just a shame they don't actually perform.
Alf Bentley Posted 17 November 2015 Posted 17 November 2015 Love this mentally of the Irish, we're just here to get pissed up and we don't care about the football side to it. Why you're a nation of losers. Even Roy Keane said it, least England go into it to win it. We don't go there to have fun, Ireland go out in the groups and they get clapped of the plane. You're confusing players and fans here. I'm sure the players of every country try to get as far as they can - unless morale is truly shite for some reason. It's just that Ireland have even less chance of winning a Euros or World Cup than England. If Ireland perform creditably in the group stage but get eliminated, or go out in the 2nd round, they'll get clapped off the plane because they've performed at the upper end of expectations. I was out in Australia for World Cup 90 so don't recall, but I presume that England got a good reception after performing well but losing in the Semis - upper end of expectations, even if they didn't win the thing. As for the fans, why wouldn't you get pissed and/or enjoy yourself? Having a fun jaunt to a foreign country and enjoying being a part of the party is up there with the outcome on the pitch. If LCFC qualify for the Champions League and get drawn to play Barcelona in the Nou Camp, will you only enjoy it if we win? Surely the best attitude is to enjoy it regardless, but see it as a fantastic bonus if you get an unexpected win (as Ireland did v. Germany recently)? What are you going to do, fly out to Barcelona, sit there miserable if we lose and then boo the players off the plane because they lost? Roy Keane's attitude to life doesn't seem to bring him much happiness.
Head Honcho Posted 17 November 2015 Posted 17 November 2015 Scotland eh? Brilliant. When a country of 25% the population of Glasgow qualifies you'd think the SFA would resign as they are no longer fit for purpose.
Super_horns Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 Bound to get Italy - Sweden or Poland and one of the other home nations (if you count ROI as one..)
ScouseFox Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 we're due an easy group, especially now platini aint there to fix it against us the dick head
AKCJ Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 we're due an easy group, especially now platini aint there to fix it against us the dick head dont u mean pratini
shen Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 It will be an exciting draw of England, Russia, Slovenia and Slovakia. We'll lose two and get a hard earned 0-0 against Slovenia. Hodgson contract extension until 2030. That would require Ukraine to be disqualified...

RonnieTodger Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 There's no reason we can't go far in this, but if we do it'll be from scraping through. There's no amazing international team anymore, but obviously there are much better ones than us. Even the toughest possible draw say EnglandItalySwedenTurkey You'd still expect us to get 3rd at our worst and squeeze through as one of the 4/6 3rd place teams.
AKCJ Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 Absolute shambles if Rickie Lambert, Ryan Mason and Andros Townsend go to the Euros.
ScouseFox Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 Absolute shambles if Rickie Lambert, Ryan Mason and Andros Townsend go to the Euros. tbf that list has 39 players supposedly going to the euros in the england squad
Nalis Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 The confirmed pots for anyone who is interested: • Pot 1: Spain (holders), Germany, England, Portugal, Belgium • Pot 2: Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Ukraine • Pot 3: Czech Republic, Sweden, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary • Pot 4: Turkey, Republic of Ireland, Iceland, Wales, Albania, Northern Ireland For Northern Ireland, we are probably looking for the combination of inspiring yet winnable games. Worst possible scenario for Northern Ireland would be drawing Belgium, Austria and Slovakia and losing all 3 matches. Looking at the pots I can't see many combinations which would cause a group stage exit for England.
kingcarr21 Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 Worst case scenario for England England Italy Sweden Northern Ireland Best case England Austria Hungary Wales
Fox92 Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 Absolute shambles if Rickie Lambert, Ryan Mason and Andros Townsend go to the Euros. Mason might but the other two won't (or at least shouldn't).
GaelicFox Posted 18 November 2015 Author Posted 18 November 2015 Looking at the pots there is going to be 2 or 3 really tough groups !
Dan Posted 19 November 2015 Posted 19 November 2015 Damn right, on your last sentence........ unless that is, we get in some sort of "Group of Death"....Germany/Italy/portugal or even Ireland. I've looked at the seeding and I think the closest thing we can get to a 'group of death' is Italy, Poland and Turkey. On the flip side we can also get Switzerland, Hungary and Albania, of which there would be no excuses for not taking nine points.
Ric Flair Posted 19 November 2015 Posted 19 November 2015 Italy and Sweden are a bogey team of ours but every other team in pots 2,3 & 4 we have half decent records against i'm sure and should get enough points to get through to the knockout stages.
