Best thing about it is watching the videos of the chavs scrapping and feeling good about yourself because while life might be a bit dull sometimes at least you're not elbowing people in the face just to get £20 off a shit TV

Exactly this. The stuff Asda were flogging last year were brands I'd never heard of, and ones that people wouldn't normally go out and buy. Just because they knock a few quid off an already over-inflated price, people lose all sense.

Black Friday. When Americans will elbow each other in the face to get cheap stuff one day after they have been thankful for what they already have.

Aren't a lot of the 'deals' fake? Basically offered up at the normal prices but use the word sale and psychologically get hooked in.

It's got some competition but, for me, it's the very worst thing about our culture.

We don't even get a fvcking holiday the day before this Yank dirge FFS.

A lot of it over here really are sales. But the companies are not stupid.. They'll still make their money...Either the prices are inflated somewhat to begin with or the quality of the product is low...

Should have a 'White Day' as well imo, considering this generation is starting to make/want things equal in this world.

Black Friday is the name given to the shopping day after Thanksgiving. It was originally called Black Friday because so many people went out to shop that it caused traffic accidents and sometimes even violence.

The name was first recorded in 1966 by Earl Apfelbaum, a dealer in rare stamps. In his ad, he said, "'Black Friday' is the name that the Philadelphia Police Department gave to the Friday following Thanksgiving Day.

The Police Department coined the phrase to describe the mayhem surrounding the congestion of pedestrian and auto traffic in the Center City downtown area. (Source: The Chicago Tribune, "Black Friday - Why and When?

Black Friday and Cyber Monday can both kiss my hairy ginger ass. We're such sheep in this country following the yanks and its fvckin embarrassing. Good luck to those of you who get suckered in to buying discontinued, clearance shite and think you're getting a bargain. Price establishment is alive and well and we all fall for it, every time.
