Thracian Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 US confirm that the Russian plane was warned 10 times before being shot down Reading Obama's reported comments I can't help but wonder who's side he's on as much as Erdogan!
Tielemans63 Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 The Russians have been trying to provoke this sort of reaction for a while now but other nations have not risen to the bait....until now. I think it'll be a lot clearer what the Russians are all about after this especially in the wake of Putin's fighting talk in his initial response. Never been so grateful to live in boring-as-**** Kettering than I am right now.

Thracian Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 it looks a mighty thin excuse to me and the afters even worse.... But as you say, we'll see when the fog clears.
The God Emperor Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 Took one of the doors off the hinges this morning and am filling the bath with water. Off to Costco to get some more canned food. Anyone know if they sell automatic rifles?

Larry_LCFC Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 Its alright though guys! David Cameron has pledged to have some new military hardware ready for 10 years time. If we can just hold of WW3 until then, we might stand a bloody chance.
Guest Bilo Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 It'd be just our luck if we're top of the table in April only for the rest of the season to be abandoned due to nuclear war.
MPH Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 Ballsy move by Turkey. No nuclear bombs dropped yet... Ballsy indeed. I wonder if they are calculating that Russia have enough on their plate to be dealing with to be too busy for some handbags at 10 paces.. what with Syria, Ukraine and someone playing with the light switches in Crimea... And they are right in some ways... Russia are in danger of stretching themselves too thin and their economy is fragile to say the least with such low oil prices and sanctions. That plane coming down will be the least of their worries... They have so many muslims in some of their regions that they could really do some damage with a few inhouse attacks.... Really thinking ( hoping) that Putin is starting to bite off more than he can chew...

Mike Oxlong Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 According to Newsnight the plane was in Turkish airspace for 17 seconds, the missile striking whilst over Syrian territory. Sanctioned by the PM More about taking a stance against the bombing of the Turkmen than the violation of airspace IMO.
Dr The Singh Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 Can't see peace in the area happen anytime soon
MC Prussian Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 Can't see peace in the area happen anytime soon Well, you could try disarming all parties. I said disarming, not dismembering.

To be fair, if I recall Russia recently took a pretty aggressive stance to alleged attacks on ethnic Russians in Ukraine, so I'm sure they knew very well Turkey could do something similar to protect ethnic Turks in Syria.
BoneDog Posted 29 November 2015 Posted 29 November 2015 F*&k you Erdogan. Those idiots are attacking many of the folks who are killing ISIS (The Kurds, the Syrian army and now Russia). What they're doing to the Kurds is despicable. Turkey also created a corridor for sending terrorists over the border into Syria a long time ago. NATO are just as guilty of training and sending in terrorists too - only the most uninformed fools don't know that by now. Build your bunkers lads cos it is definitely happening.
Thracian Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 With deals like this no wonder there are so many want out of the EU. Thracian Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Anyone doubting Erdogan has his own agenda? http://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20151129/1030948809/turkey-arrest-generals-truck-syria-weapons-terrorists.html Cameron and the West need to get wise about Turkey's leader. The bloke wants his own kind of Islamic caliphate and everything he does is aimed at achieving that. Little wonder even his own people are so divided about him. Ally of the West? He's an ally of himself and his own ambitions.
bovril Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Sputnik News sounds non-partisan just from the name...
Thracian Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Sputnik News sounds non-partisan just from the name... Presumably you didn't bother reading the source which seems clear enough as it's revealed in the first paragraph. Turkey's supplying of their own choice of Islamist mititants was well enough known or suspected, but there's nothing like specific evidence and I've read nothing to convince me that Erdogan's changed direction in any way.
bovril Posted 30 November 2015 Posted 30 November 2015 Presumably you didn't bother reading the source which seems clear enough as it's revealed in the first paragraph. I did and I know the story. Just the name kind of tickled me, and you've been supplying us with some pretty 'out there' sources recently.
