Wenger is probably the smartest manager in football and he also thinks can will win the league. Jose will say the same in his next press conference. We have a great team playing very well, so of course we can win the league. Football pundits and journalists have tiny brains and it takes them a long time to process information. They have to repeat things other pundits have said until gradually they learn things can change. In a month or two they will all jump on the Leicester bandwagon and in a surprised voice said something like "...you know what I think Leicester might actually do it". We have a better chance to win the league this season than anyone else, so it's not surprising the more knowledgeable people in football are saying it..

Statistically we have a gigantic chance to finish top 4. If other teams keep feeling 'that it's only Leicester', which is a tough mindset to shift, then we might keep surprising people.

Chelsea losing to Bournemouth, Liverpool losing to Newcastle, man City losing to Stoke - that puts things in perspective. Arsenal are now weakened and that will show over Christmas. Tottenham are a danger still.

It is a weird EPL this season so why not an outrageous outcome. All things are currently possible. Let's enjoy the ride. We've had enough downs, time for a few ups.

I've noticed many teams have played quite defensively against us.

Imagine if it was the other way round and had the same mentality as we have currently - would we struggle against such teams?

I honestly think we do have a CHANCE of lifting it, but it's essential our key players stay fit and we keep up this kind of form.

I'm the most excited I've ever been as a Leicester fan for over 20 years and even getting top 6 would be a massive achievement, but I think top 4 is definately within our reach! winning it is unthinkable but possible and after what I have seen this season I am not gonna write us off!

I think we definately need another striker (number 10 or just backup to Vardy) to chip in with more goals, I don't see Okazaki or Ulloa being that player (not clinical enough). Kramaric is a player who I think there is more to come from but he clearly isn't fancied by Ranieri and/or putting the work in training so I'm not sure what's going on there.

After that maybe another centre back, but I think it would be crazy risky to drop the captain Morgan and upset the dressing room even if we found someone better.

You'd need to entice some of their defenders out of their own half. Based on the Manu game, a potential two point plan emerges;  1. Play Ulloa  2. Give away corners

Getting top four would be unreal! Let alone top!

Champions League football for LCFC...who would have thought that at the start?

Posted

In the previous 23 PL seasons, of every team top after 15 games every single one finished 3rd or better, apart from Villa in 1999, who finished 6th...

And the team top after 15 matches has gone on to win the league 47.8% of the time

Fergie is a condescending old has been who got out at man u when he knew the team was crap. Moyes took the blame. He along with wenger are making their excuses ready for when their teams fail to win the league, like "told you Leicester were good". I hate the way he assumes that our players will will leave to join them as that is "natural progress". The little old Leicester syndrome crops up and I resent having to hear it. They may well be right at the end of the day but I would love it if a "little" team won the prem and got the financial backing to continue their success and became a "big" team . If not us then someone other than the usual suspects.

It doesn't matter what anyone says, thinks or believes, what matters is the next game, our remaining results and, doubtless, the results of other clubs although we are the only team in a position to be masters of our own Premiership destiny which is a plus.

People have commented on the potential pitfalls but it can work the other way too. Manchester City losing before we even kicked off at Swansea was encouraging and became a nice, big bonus, by the time we'd taken advantage by winning ourselves.

Then there was the Liverpool game. After their demolition of Southampton in the Cup it was nice to see them get beaten too and, with others in the chasing pack faltering as well, our 3-0 win was suddenly worth that much more than just the three points we could effect.

The point is that while there might be pressure and problems for us to cope with, there's arguably a little more on our competitors because we've already got two more points than anyone else.

People talk about us sustaining injuries but they forget that our players don't seem to acknowledge pain anyway any more than they recognise the fear of failure or negative thoughts of any kind.

Who knows,  it might be that our approach to looking after players is as good as our team's is on the football field. That might be medical. Or it might be that if they do succomb to injury they might never get their place back or the chance to walk across the top of their world ever again! :D

Fergie talks about investment but I've seen no lack of investment at City. What I have seen is the value of a tight squad.

There's competition for places at City but not so much that we're likely to have a lot of well-paid miseries knocking around the club complaining they're not getting a game and that's important.

Then there's the question of burnout. Well, it's already been highlighted that if the latest league table had been compiled from the beginning of last April or thereabouts we'd be even further ahead - I think six points has been mentioned. And we didn't lose in our pre-season friendlies either! :)

What that says to me is that our players absolutely love winning and don't expect to do anything else.

Yes, Vardy's seen by many as a talisman. The human ball of energy that lights the way forward. But then people talk of Riyad Mahrez with all his goals and assists that stand right alongside Vardy's.

Then they mention Drinkwater and with what pride for a bloke who hardly ever scores, hardly ever even hits the target but still sets such a breathtaking example. Suddenly one "star" player becomes three and then someone starts devling a bit deeper and finds that Kante can play a bit too. Not occasionally but week in, week out and so it goes on and on to include so many players who are consistently finishing their shift with player ratings of seven or more and who all have wonderful results records, these last seven or eight months whether at Leicester or elsewhere.

So while we've won nothing significant yet except the right to play in the top flight and one of the most remarkable relegation escapes in Premiership history, and while the need to stay focused on nothing more than the next game seems paramount, I see no reason why  we should lose the next game any more than any of the other games that have led to us being so talked about.

We've been winning or drawing for good football reasons - not because people have been charitable.

And who, through all the analysis, has greater spirit than ours?

Because spirit is something "money can't buy".

Old red nose and his mind games. He's just hoping our players start thinking that.

I see what you are saying, but he didn't seem to be belittling us. He was quoting Peter Schmeichal and saying we are good. He described us as an historically small team and he's right about that, we haven't won much. It didn't seem like he was playing mind games.

Maybe now people can understand when I said we've only done the easy part by getting to the top. The pressure will build and build from here on in to the end of the League.  The players seem to have the passion necessary to win, we just need the luck to go with it.

The Addition of another proven goal scorer in case Vardy get's injured would be nice along with a quality creator someone like Bojan.

A quality Goalkeeper. Then we'd have a real chance of success.

I've seen people on here typing that we are the only team to have our destiny in our own hands, this isn't true. If arsenal or either of the Manchester teams win all their games then they have it in their hands.

How can they win all their games when we will win all of ours?
Posted

Just saying that they could! We are not the only team that can win all our games to win the title, so could the teams I mentioned. If they win all theirs they win the title meaning their destiny is in their hands.

that goes for every team

No one is going to win all the games, even a title winning team would be doing well winning 2/3 of the games.

I don't understand how anyone can say that the so called big clubs don't take us seriously. Man United definitely gave us respect and took us seriously which was evident with there deep defensive line to try to prevent our dangerous counter attacking ability. I guarantee that Mourinho will attempt to have Chelsea park the bus and win 1-0 on Monday, that is respect. Every single team we come up against appear terrified whenever we go forward, we are a viewed as a terrifying team to play against absolutely no question. Its plain to see when we are in possession and going forward against any team. This is the greatest opportunity to win the big prize in the clubs history and if we can't do it this season we never will. The pressure will increase more for other teams then it will us. We aren't expected to win the league, we are massive underdogs and the longer we stay at the top the more pressure we will put our title rivals under.

Am I missing something here? We've all played the same amount of games and we're two points ahead. So surely if we win all of our games (which we won't) then we win the title? So it is in our hands right?

But it's also in Arsenal's hands if they win all their games (beating us). Same with Manchester City, though they could draw once against us and win the other, and then probably win the title on goal difference.

Ah, OK. I getcha.

As the one who started the thread thats actually what I was thinking, mind games to give his beloved Man U a better chance of winning. When he was a manager he always used to try and play games with the teams around him and Leicester is presently above Man U. The 40 point mentality is dangerous though, once attained it could be a case of job done and cruise to a Newcastle style run in to the season end.

Psychology of the team and the opponents will play a major role in how the season progresses and indeed finishes up.
