Guy Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 In more modern Premier League times then often labelled as the team most likely to get relegated is the one that's bottom of the Premier League at Christmas. Well we bucked that trend last season of course along with West Brom who'd pulled it off a decade before. However (and without my wanting to pre-empt what may happen over this weekend!), then surely this is a first in so far as the team who was bottom the previous Christmas could well be top the following Christmas?? - a truly amazing stat. if so!
theessexfox Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 No way it can have happened before. 2015 has been almost indescribable, to be a Leicester fan.
MooseBreath Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 This year has been outrageous but we haven't had a boring season for about a decade. The last season where nothing much happened was the season before we got relegated to league one.
Webbo Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 C Can only recognize Savage (?). I think that's pre Savage. I reckon that's Gary Parker you're thinking of.
ousefox Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 This year has been outrageous but we haven't had a boring season for about a decade. The last season where nothing much happened was the season before we got relegated to league one. Very true. It's been fun being a Leicester fan for ages. As much as I want us to be successful, it must be quite boring supporting teams like Stoke, West Ham and other teams who never challenge for the top 4 and are never threatened by relegation.
filbertway Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 C Can only recognize Savage (?). I didn't know Diego Costa played for us. Who is his lookalike in this? Think I only recognise Parker, Kalac, Poole and Roberts?
Vlad the Fox Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 David Lowe, Julian watts, Colin hill, Martin George.
FLAN Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 Roberts watts Taylor Parker Poole kalac Joachim Lowe is that Thompson in foreground? Can't be
WesMorganGod Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 If we are top christmas day then I am sure there has never been a team bottom at christmas one season and the next season top. I can't believe it has ever happened in premier league history. would be a first.
ithuriel Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 C Can only recognize Savage (?). Think that is Rolling, Taylor, Parker, Smith, Roberts, Blake, Lowe, Walsh, Poole, Kalac with George looking on.
ithuriel Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 Could be Corica, almost forgot about our half season midfield wonder kid before injury ruined him and Wolves bought him :xmaslaugh:
Mad Dog Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 It's a first in the Premier League, but happened once before in the 80s - Norwich did it.
Guy Posted 20 December 2015 Author Posted 20 December 2015 C Can only recognize Savage (?). Yes, Garry Parker it is, plus Steve Corica next to him - this was the fans Christmas cartoon card from 1995-96 season (McGhee turned O'Neill....)!
Guy Posted 20 December 2015 Author Posted 20 December 2015 Apparently Burnley in the '20s as well I had a quick go on Wikipedia and it says Burnley were second finishers in 1919-20 and won it in 1920-21 so it would be unlikely that they were bottom one Christmas and then top the next in consecutive seasons re their finishing positions! - so that can't be the time to which you were referring, unless you were just being 'rough ball park'?!
Foxile Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Yes, Garry Parker it is, plus Steve Corica next to him - this was the fans Christmas cartoon card from 1995-96 season (McGhee turned O'Neill....)! Isn't the guy tackling Parker a defender names Clarey?
ithuriel Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 If you're thinking of Brian Carey, no, it is not, Scary Carey
Guy Posted 20 December 2015 Author Posted 20 December 2015 Isn't the guy tackling Parker a defender names Clarey? No, Brian Carey is not in sight! Steve Corica, defo.
