surrifox Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 Seems unlikely . The £1 mill fee represented a biggish gamble by a championship club on a lower league player - can't see any negotiator conceding a 25 % sell on as well as money up front
Thracian Posted 28 December 2015 Posted 28 December 2015 30 million. But where do you find a replacement. Couple more goals from vardy and we are safe and get double that. Hang around the top 4 and it's 3 or 4 times that. He will only go if he wants to. We have no need to sell at this point. Ighalo's supposed to be available for around £15m but we really need him as well as Vardy rather than instead, and another striker on top because I can't see Vardy lasting the pace as it is.

If thats true then I'd rather bid for him than austin. 15 million is nothing now days. Now if we had both and fired ourselves into the top 4. Happy days.

Is this the same paper talk that is saying that Vardy/Marhez/Kante etc are available? If Vardy is worth £30m then Ighalo is at least £20m+, more in Jan. They wouldn't sell Deeney when they were in the Championship so their star striker is in the Prem is going nowhere, plus he's part of the Pozzo family so the cost will be high.
Babylon Posted 28 December 2015 Posted 28 December 2015 I heard a rumour it was a 25% clause! That would keep Fleetwood running for 2 to 3 seasons! Seems unlikely . The £1 mill fee represented a biggish gamble by a championship club on a lower league player - can't see any negotiator conceding a 25 % sell on as well as money up front It was in an article about the fleetwood chairman, looks like it might actually be the case as the article was an interview with him.
st albans fox Posted 28 December 2015 Posted 28 December 2015 It was in an article about the fleetwood chairman, looks like it might actually be the case as the article was an interview with him. If he does go, then I am delighted that the sell on fee is so high - great for fleetwood. We don't really need the dosh and it enables us to increase the price to the buyer to compensate. The fact is that I don't want him to go. He is the whole ethos of the side.

If you look at those teams who have sold talent for big money (think Spurs and Liverpool in recent years and even us when we cashed in on Heskey) it shows it is difficult to re- invest well.
kyleolly Posted 28 December 2015 Posted 28 December 2015 Surely if he's playing using pain killing injections for his foot and a broken wrist he wouldn't pass a medical somewhere else!
Babylon Posted 28 December 2015 Posted 28 December 2015 Surely if he's playing using pain killing injections for his foot and a broken wrist he wouldn't pass a medical somewhere else! They would be more interested in long perm issues and not short term things like a broken wrist and the odd niggle.

kyleolly Posted 28 December 2015 Posted 28 December 2015 If we could get £40m for him I'd sell he's battered if he plays in the euros, next season he will be exhausted.
Bettsj2 Posted 28 December 2015 Posted 28 December 2015 If we could get £40m for him I'd sell he's battered if he plays in the euros, next season he will be exhausted. To me its all about Vards. If he wants to stay, keep him, if he says he wants a move, absolutely sell. The smart thing would be to get fee plus player especially if the 25% sell on clause is legit. Man City - £30m plus Bony or Navas Chelsea - £35m plus Ivanovic Man Utd - £30m plus Januzaj Etc etc. Bony and £30m wouldnt be a bad deal. He could be very effective for us.
ST20 Posted 28 December 2015 Posted 28 December 2015 Ivanovic has been woeful this season. A couple of their promising young players and £35m would be better.

Couldn't you have picked any worse examples. Navas has no end product. Ivanovic has been dog shit this season. And a player that man Utd have farmed out on loan. And has done about as much as marcheda had done. Bony I would take but the others. Thank **** you aren't Steve Walsh.
Bettsj2 Posted 28 December 2015 Posted 28 December 2015 Ivanovic has been woeful this season. A couple of their promising young players and £35m would be better. They've all been woeful for whatever reason. He is a quality player that would strengthen our backline in height, experience and overall quality. I would only look for cash + player if the player in question can improve the first team. That way even though losing Vardy is a blow, we strengthen immediately without delay and have cash. Taking youth players that may or may not work out isnt worth it given what we'd be selling.

Taking Ivanovic's form this season is a false example of his quality as it would be with Costa, Hazard etc. Januzaj is decent. The fact Man Utd have loaned him means nothing. They've got rid of a handful of players they shouldnt have done. In fact, earlier in the season when he was in their team was about the only period this season when they've looked half decent.

OK juanzaj I haven't seen enough off and his age helps. I'm not sure with ivanovic I think his best days may already be behind, he looks slow, a broken man almost at times.

I'm not sure with ivanovic I think his best days may already be behind, he looks slow, a broken man almost at times. The whole Chelsea squad has this season. Last year he was superb. No way his performances this year are a reflection of his ability. No player can deteriorate that quickly and that drastically.
ST20 Posted 28 December 2015 Posted 28 December 2015 Ivanovic is past it. He gets destroyed now by players with any reasonable pace.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 31 December 2015 Posted 31 December 2015 Strange seeing vardy as a main headline on sky news with the title 'not for sale'
Chelve84 Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Heard a rumour that vardy has been having injections to nurse him through this xmas period.
