Vardy

I can't see him or Mahrez going in January.  Firstly, they are assets owned by the club as they are under contract.  If we aren't selling, they aren't moving.  Secondly, they are riding a crest of a wave here, they are adored by the fans, playing the football of their lives with a real opportunity to achieve success here.  Thirdly, their value will not exactly drop off a cliff between January and July.  If they want a summer move then that could be different, I doubt they/we would get significantly less money by waiting until summer.

I do expect lots of chat in the media though, fueled by rumours from the traditional big teams in an underhand way of trying to unsettle them here.  I guess it comes with the territory and something we'll have to be mindful of over the next few weeks.

Should offer massive new bonus incentive contracts for mahrez and vardy especially.

Win the league 5m each bosh.

100m

Guaranteed just for being in the league.

Prize money for finishing top

2015

1st 25m

20th 1.4

Plus look how lucrative this is for the king power brand, Leicester in all the papers constantly all over the world.

I suspect that sort of advertising is priceless.

I fear he will leave. We will do very well to hold on to him in my opinion.

Not in January. He will want to go to the Euros and if he goes to one of the big boys and doesn't get a game he may miss out.

Heard a rumour that vardy has been having injections to nurse him through this xmas period. The bloke that does the injections works at lri and he reckons they and city have agreed january is the best month of fixtures for him to have a slight op and will be out for january.if true he aint going nowhere

That sounds sensible. It's about time we see how we cope without him - Ulloa, Okazaki and Kramaric (?) to the rescue.

But before he takes his well-deserved time off in January, please hit the 20-goal mark, will ya? :D

If that's the case I can't see Krammy going out on loan anywhere, unless we buy another striker in January

Maybe this is the right time to buy a marquee striker to partner Vardy and replace him if he's out.

Breel Embolo?

You're pretty keen on Embolo.

If that is the case then yeah its a good time to sort it out. Would love it if someone like Kramaric came in and starting scoring just to shut people up saying we are a 2 man team!

Chelsea Transfer News: Jamie Vardy Targeted Amid Roman Abramovich Rumours By Christopher SimpsonFeatured Columnist Dec 24, 2015

Leicester City's Jamie Vardy is "likely to be" interim Chelseamanager Guus Hiddink's "No. 1 priority," with owner RomanAbramovich reportedly "ready to bankroll a big move" in January.

According to the Mirror's John CrossAbramovich is prepared to spend serious money in the winter transfer window and has given Hiddink his backing to identify targets who can salvage the Blues' season, with the in-form Foxes man highlighted as a probable target for the Dutchman.

Hiddink himself admitted he was open to doing business in January if necessary.

Per Cross, he said:

Let's go into the next few games and then we'll see.

We didn't stipulate, but we know also that it's always open.

But first I like to embed a bit now in the first days and games, and then we'll see what happens. It depends on the results.

Vardy has been in simply breathtaking form this season with 15 goals and five assists to his name.

As Squawka Football demonstrates, the Englishman has not only developed a potent partnership with team-mate Riyad Mahrez, he has also been exceptionally consistent in his contributions to the team:

As a result of Vardy's form, along with Mahrez, Leicester find themselves in the position that was last season occupied by the Stamford Bridge club—top of the Premier League table.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are languishing in 15th place, three points above the drop and 20 behind the Foxes.

In their 17 league games, the Blues have netted just 21 times as the likes of Diego Costa and Eden Hazard have failed to spark or match their prolific runs in front of goal from last year.

More firepower is clearly needed and, with that in mind, a player inVardy's form fits the bill.

The 28-year-old is not only a clinical finisher but his incredible pace, tenacity and raw desire make him a brilliant player to have onside and a nightmare for the opposition to deal with.

Indeed, though he is far less technically adept and despite his form not nearly being at the same level of ability, he is somewhat reminiscent of Barcelona forward Luis Suarez.

Like Suarez, Vardy's willingness to run at and terrorise defenders also yields further results in terms of winning penalties, per OptaJoe, though the Englishman has largely avoided the Uruguayan's reputation for going down too easily:

In spite of his incredible run, he's not the marquee forward many Blues fans will be hoping for, and as he turns 29 in January he's not a long-term solution either.

Vardy wouldn't be brought in as that, though, as he would largely be used to keep Chelsea ticking over until they can sign a top-class striker in the summer.

Nevertheless, Vardy will be exceptionally difficult to prise away from the King Power Stadium in January.

According to the Leicester Mercury, Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri is adamant their top stars will be staying put at least until the end of the season.

Further, there's little reason to want to leave high-flying Leicester at the momentespecially for a club struggling in the manner Chelsea have been and the atmosphere of negativity surrounding Jose Mourinho's sacking.

Vardy could well get cherry-picked by a bigger team at some point, but it's not likely to be January and not likely to be Chelsea

.....and that's why he should stick with us.

If Vardy can't see that he's a stop gap option for Chelsea and a small piece in Roman Abramovich's real life fantasy football team then I'll be very disappointed. I'd back him to see the reality and I'm sure he knows his bond with this club is something special and not worth uprooting for the likes of Chelsea, Abramovich and Hiddink.

I don't know if people will stop calling this team a 2 man team. We couldn't really ask for better than Kante, Fuchs, Drinkwater or Morgan in current form. We're at least a 5 or 6 man team. How does that compare to our competition?

At least a 5/6 man team? Hahahahaha wow, coming from one of our own fans as well. You have had a mare here pal.

Playing devil's advocate, I thought that was clear, but obviously not.

Edit: I think we might have different definitions of "2 man team". If our best players were Okazaki, Schmeichel, Ulloa and Simpson, I don't think we'd be anywhere near where we are now. Do you really think we would be?

I was asking myself what the number of men team someone claiming we were would be when I wouldn't be able to argue any more. That's the number I got to.

Vardy & Mahrez are going nowhere in January.

Summer is the worry, but lets worry when we get there. A lot can happen in that time.

Won't be an issue pal. I mean we'll be qualified for the Champions League by then ;)

The arrogance of the 'top teams' and the media is really pissing me off at the moment. So many articles linking our players to the top clubs, saw one earlier claiming Liverpool should 'just go and buy' N'Golo Kante as if it could easily happen if they wanted it to.

It suddenly feels really important for a smaller club to break the top 4 as soon as possible, just to give the rest of the country a little bit of belief. If a team sitting at the top of the Prem, with the amount of fans we've got and the facilities we've got, can still lose their best players in January, football is gone.

I'm not worried if it's Chelsea. Why the hell would he want to go to a side who aren't going to be in the Champions League next season? It would make no sense whatsoever.
