Babylon Posted 5 January 2016 Posted 5 January 2016 Apparently De Jong is not a target, according to Rob Tanner that is. I'd be amazed if he's someone we've not looked at, he or someone else won't come unless Inler goes though.
Guest Col city fan Posted 5 January 2016 Posted 5 January 2016 It's a risk, it always is... but if we've identified experience as being essential in that area I think it's a risk worth taking. As you said before, the money is huge so it's really a drop in the ocean. He's younger than Huth and we spent a few bob on him as we knew his experience was essential for us. I don't see it as being any different to that. Yep I agree. I had no idea he was younger than Huth tbf which shows how much (little) I know.
Thracian Posted 5 January 2016 Posted 5 January 2016 Having read some persuasive arguments in here and, considering how well the supposedly reckless Wasyl's played for us since he joined, maybe DeJong's a better bet than I gave credit for. Haha - anyone mentioned in the same breath as Kante surely can't help but be an asset.
Grewks Posted 5 January 2016 Posted 5 January 2016 We still need a defensive midfielder who sits. Kante is more of an all-rounder ramires (albeit a lot better) type, we are short of a matic/de jong type.
Kitchandro Posted 5 January 2016 Posted 5 January 2016 We still need a defensive midfielder who sits. Kante is more of an all-rounder ramires (albeit a lot better) type, we are short of a matic/de jong type. I think those sort of players are vastly overrated and not often necessary.
VLC86 Posted 5 January 2016 Posted 5 January 2016 I think those sort of players are vastly overrated and not often necessary. Well there we go Mr Mourinho, Kitchandro has spoken so you are clearly wrong. Shove your champions league medals ups your arse!
Vardinio'sCat Posted 5 January 2016 Posted 5 January 2016 Well, I'm with Col on this one. Nigel de Wrong. He's more like Inler than Kante, with the crucial difference of having PL experience. I don't really think he would come to sit on the bench anyway, he may as well do that at Milan. I'm not saying he is rubbish, or that he couldn't do a decent job as a DMC, but the Inler situation makes me think that we need a player who is a DMC/MC (like Kante). if Inler goes. 442 needs mobile central midfielders, and to have a DMC who doesn't have the legs to be cover for our current CM's in whatever formation we are playing, seems like a mistake to me. Say Cambiasso had stayed, we wouldn't have been able to play the 442 that has been crucial to our current success, with him on the pitch.
Legend fox Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 I live in Leicester, talk to Leicester fans who watch EVERY game.... and still disagree with most of their views. Don't take it personally, I'm aiming it Mr "I'm always right". I live in a house avery big house in the country
Legend fox Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 N de Jong Yes he brings experience but in my eyes not much else. He is an older not where near as good version of kante. He would be a bench warmer at best.
Nick Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 I think we were interested in the player, the player less interested in us than his club were to sell him. He had an amazing season last year and was even made Captain I read somewhere but the style of play has not suited him. I think we are now looking elsewhere and denying the story so not to unsettle Inler.
(.) (.) Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 Is he a Inler replacement or are we planning on playing a 4-3-3 with Drinkwater, Kante, De Jong, Inler, King and James fighting for three spots.
Callabinho Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 I love how this is still on going despite Tanner's comments.
MC Prussian Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 Is he a Inler replacement or are we planning on playing a 4-3-3 with Drinkwater, Kante, De Jong, Inler, King and James fighting for three spots. Ranieri will hardly compromise his Italian-style 4-4-2, unless absolutely needed (against hard-pressing, attacking and highly dangerous sides such as Manchester City).
Guest Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 The Mercury reporting today he is not a target for Leicester EDIT*** just saw the post above delete me
ramboacdc Posted 6 January 2016 Posted 6 January 2016 Apparently De Jong is not a target, according to Rob Tanner that is. if inler does leave (he wont i think he's being paid crazy money and no one will want to match) then de jong will happen i think.
RobHawk Posted 10 January 2016 Posted 10 January 2016 Linked with Swansea today on the BBC gossip column
MC Prussian Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 In talks with LA Galaxy: http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2016/01/17/transfer-watch-la-galaxy-clear-path-ashley-cole-close-adding-jelle-van-damme-and
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 31 January 2016 Posted 31 January 2016 Close thread. Him & Stevie G in the middle of the park in the MLS should be a force to be reckoned with.
